What the hell was that episode. I'm so confused right now. Castle being missing for two months threw me off and was definitely surprising.
I really don't understand why nearly everyone started immediately believing the "Castle faked his kidnapping" idea. You've known the man for six years. Really?
I know Castle's disappearance looked bad, but I got severely pissed off when they believed he just left Beckett. I mean seriously? Like they don't know the guy or something. Beckett having doubts annoyed me most of all.
How many times is that woman going to doubt Castle loves her before she finally just accepts it? I'm pretty much angry at all of them. As I mentioned I understand WHY they thought that way, but it was still so insulting.
interesting and a bit confusing continuation/set up ep.... loved seeing Kate's dogged determination in trying to find out what happened and the twist that had everyone doubting Castle that eventually uncovered the new trail to follow in what might be the mythology arc for the season... great start and good to have this back
Seriously, How Can You NOT LOVE This Show! This Season Premiere Was AMAZING! And From The Looks Of The Preview, It Looks Like It'll Shape Up To Be Another AMAZING Season!!! While I'm Kinda Shocked At The Rest Of The Team Having Doubts About Castle (I Mean, SERIOUSLY, Guys?! You've Worked With Him For SEVEN YEARS!!!), The Fantastic Thing Is That Caskett Will Survive Intact! :D <3
This premiere was much much better than S5 and S6 premieres. Hundreds of questions without answers, that's what I love of this episodes and it is an amazing way of starting season 7.
I know right. Yeah sure this guy who has known you for years now, loves you and is excited to marry you just takes off and fakes his kidnapping. And totally believe that based off one video footage you see of him from a cctv camera. I mean what I though these people were his wife to be and his friends. It would be one thing if it was in character for him to run away all the time or plot things but he doesn't really so I was kind of annoyed his fiancée response and his friends. I know the writers are trying to make suspense but they need to knock off the ridiculous will they won't they plot between Castle and Kate. For pete's sakes they were going to get married just marry them already its concerning when the woman who loves him enough to marry him apparently still doesn't trust him.
I think the only ones I really felt the most bad for in the episode was Castle and his mother and his daughter. They were the only ones who seemed to just believe him and be happy he was alive and found.
Wow that episode was amazing. All I am saying is roll on to next week's episode. I am so looking forward to the rest of the season 7. This show just getting better with very new episode. And that I like that there is a lot of questions Unanswered. And I can't wait to see how it plays out.☺
I see now what the producers meant by a new mythology for Castle. We've spent 6 years on Beckett now I guess it's Castle's turn. Might as well give it some time to transition. I'm confident the producers know what they're doing. I gave this a Great instead of a Perfect because of the way some things were handled. Like most, I did not like how some jumped the gun thinking he was leaving Kate and his old life. Definitely not the man we know. Another was Castle himself. Two months and he thinks nothing has happened? I find it very disturbing that he thinks he woke up the day after the wedding and think he was just run off the road. However, the final scene practically made up for the confusion during the episode. Solid episode. Kudos to Stana and her acting along with the rest of the cast. Looking forward to next week and beyond.
Wow, we've waited seven seasons for Castle to have a mythology I'm glad it's revolving around him, it's time Beckett worry about him, but to continue to doubt him after all they've been through, just drives me crazy, they're are a lot of unanswered questions, I'm looking forward to getting answers, I wonder what happened those two months, hope we get answers soon, and for goodness sake let there be a wedding already!!!!
I think Kate was angry at Rick in the hospital for a split second when she walked in the room and he acted like nothing happened. Of course, both of them quickly understood there was so much more to the story when Rick realized he had no memory of the past two months. I was also a bit annoyed with Kate in this episode until this thought occurred to me. First, the viewers didn't really get to see the emotional rollercoaster Kate experienced for the entire two month time frame due to the flash forward. Second, it's not that Kate doesn't trust Rick. It's that Kate doesn't trust she will finally get to be happy with the man she loves. In "For Better or Worse", Kate told Rick that something always seems to get in the way of them being together. However, Beckett needs to remember what Castle told her. It's okay to have obstacles as long as they fight together to overcome them. Kate completely let down her guard and was blissfully happy on her wedding day. Then she got a real punch in the gut through no fault of Castle's. Beckett just needs to regain the equilibrium she lost over the past two months and then I'm sure she will quickly be right by Castle's side as they try to solve this mystery together. Castle understands Beckett and he was right when he told her they will find their way home.
my reaction is the same "what the hell was that?!!!". Yet I feel we have to be patient and see the next epi for some explanation hopefully. This epi by itself definitely was frustrating.
I know, we didn't get all the answers we were hoping for. This episode was like watching a whole different show. I for one think that it would've been badly written if the whole situation would have been resolved in the first episode. They wanted to give us something else, and they did. I can't wait to see what's next, especially an explanation for the last two months in Castles life. And also I really think that Beckett's & Espos reactions were nothing but human. If a person you love disappears for two months and the evidence is ambiguous, nobody can stay loyal all the time. You start asking questions.. Fortunately, Espo was apparently wrong, but I can still understand the way he might have felt..
I have to admit, I'm one of those that did doubt Castle (and I still doubt him a little). I can understand how Beckett, Espo and Ryan felt. The evidence was there, and their cops. That's what cops do, they find the evidence and put all of the pieces together and it did seem to suggest that Castle abandoned Beckett and their wedding. But it's definitely possible that Castle was being framed. Curious to know who's behind the abduction and why did this person go after Castle.
For now, I'll give Castle the benefit of the doubt by continuing to watch this season and to see how this mythology unfolds.
What the hell? What the Hell? WHAT THE HELL? This is the most confusing episode ever. What the hell was that, what the hell is going on. What the hell was everything.
It was not a typical Castle episode. It was very Dark and frustrating. However, that said it has opened up something about Rick's background. Why was Tropical Storm brought up? Other than expressing reasons Rick would not camp in the place he was supposedly was. I think this unpublished book will explain much in the coming season. As a stand alone episode it was not that great. But in the stand point it is the jumping off point it does that very well.
I thought it was an interesting episode with a good series of odd situations.... till I realized at the end that the writers didn't know where they were going with it and were just throwing every cliché amnesia mystery situation they could at it hoping something would stick. At the end of last season I publicly stated I don't know how they can get out of this. For 35 mins or so, I thought "wow, they are pulling off a great caper" & it seemed probable they had an end to this mystery. Instead, we get "someday we'll figure it out" which is code for "we're going to drag this out for 4 to 24 episodes". I'm not interested in that long of a mystery. I don't tune in to Castle expecting a season long case. If they don't solve it in the 1st few minutes of episode two, I might give up on what is usually 1 of my 10 favorite shows on TV.
This episode was just pathetic. Why is it so difficult for Beckett to think Castle was doing what he was doing just because somebody had menaced him to do something really bad, like killing his daughter, or his mom, ...? Beckett's behavior was so awkward. A toddler could have written a better episode.
Are you voting awful because the episode left you confused. It left my mom and me confused too. However, view last night episode as the first chapter of a good murder mystery. If the first chapter doesn't confuse you then it wasn't a good well written book.
I enjoyed Driven on the bases that it done its job, it left me confused and with doubts. Not about Castle loyalty to Beckett. But what was he doing for these 2 months that he was shot and have antibodies for a virus. Don't forget the 10,000 cash drop to Vinnie the Scare.
And in all that time he couldn't find a way to let her know that he was alive. Its easy for us to say we didn't have doubts. I am doubting Castle. I don't doubt he loves Beckett, However, Castle knows something.
I think that If the channel had put together the episode 7x01 and 7x02 everything'd have been more logic in terms of 'understanding' instead of waiting for a week now
I'm voting awful, because of this whole episode. I mean look i like mystery it provides a lot of good for some shows, but here it only may it worse. When you finish a season like that you expect some answers in the first episode of the season, but today not only we didn't got any kind of answers, but we got even more questions. And let's not forget the time jump.
The episode would have been good if we only saw something to encourage us to be hopeful for Beckett and Castle and their story. But me it left looking like their story end relationship is going downhill not uphill.
I see where your coming from. However, the relationship wise, its not going downhill, a few years ago Beckett wouldn't have shown her emotions the way she did last night. She reached for Castle for comfort several years ago she wouldn't have done that.
The end scene told me that they are going to fight for this relationship. She even told Castle she lost her faith, however shes going to get it back.
The last scene also show that they as a team, are going to find their way home. Home is each other.
Don't worry their relationship after this episode is stronger than ever. People always said they never talked. Well this episode had them talking, also put the complaining to rest that Beckett didn't care about Castle as she should.
first time in a very long time i enjoyed the story! thought this was true to Kate's character from s1-4....s5 and S6 seems too hard to believe that she would suddenly turn 180degrees and be so open to him without slowly getting there....dont believe one can change overnight with what she had been through.....and totally love Javi!...he has always been the one to have her back especially in ALWAYS, rick didnt even pick up the call but he still gets the girl! ...perhaps the alternate reality ep will have them together ;)...though i ship caskett deep down i believe Javi seems to deserve her more..imho...;)
I was disappointed that after all this time Beckett still doesn't completely trust and believe in Castle. I thought her flip flopping days were over but no,she hasn't changed and obviously never will.
I was more disappointed in Castle than in Beckett. His reaction after waking up wasn't a normal reaction. He acted like nothing really happened. He just went "OK I lost two months of my life and I don't remember anything, no problem." I have a feeling he does know what happened. All of it was just strange.
What annoyed me was not the thinking he faked his disappearance, but to really think he'd do that to his daughter or his mother. I mean, no, he wouldn't do it to Kate, but beyond that, he would never let his daughter (mom too, but especially Alexis) just hang there in limbo for 2 months. Regardless, he's not the kind of person who would 'break up with Kate' by causing serious emotion trauma to his daughter. That's what was so unFREAKINGbelieveably stupid to me. That Kate would even for a second think he'd do that to Alexis (even if she thought he might to her-Kate), just really irritated me to no end. He wouldn't. shut up. Find some other clue because you have to know he would NEVER do that to Alexis (or you, or mom, but especially Alexis). Didn't like that at all... or that Javier or Ryan would think he'd do that to Alexis either. Just ridiculous.
If he does have amnesia than Its not that strange. He woke up just like you or I,not thinking anything other than what he thought,he was driven off the road and woke up in the hospital.. Once when i was sick I took all my medications at one time.Bad move! I won't bore you with the details but the next morning i had no relocation of what i had done or said and to this day i still have no idea. When my husband told my doctor about it i felt as though he was talking about someone else, not me.
Agreed! He never would do something like that to his daughter or mother, never! And really,Kate has always been like that with Castle, she never completely trusted him.
This mystery is going to continue for quite awhile, and from what i remember we will have more questions than answers in the beginning. But really, you have to know that in the end they will be together so don't get upset or frustrated. There is no way there won't be a wedding for those two.
The writers are still on probation. This episode, like the set up for this story was cliche ridden. Knew he was being framed, knew he was going to wake up with amnesia. Only the characters kept me watching. Was a little surprised at Javi. Two things the characters should be aware of that I would have gone to first if someone was trying to convince me that someone I'd known and trusted with my life for 6 years had staged his own kidnapping. (1) Castle's father is in the CIA and James Bond situations have happened and (2) Scapolamene (sp?) from the zombie case. That's the argument I was have used with the FBI agent if I were Kate.
Glad they at least brought Castle back before the end of the ep. Good episode but they are on probation.
I don't know what meds you took but in my entire life I've never had a moment where I can't remember what I did the previous day. Granted I'm still young.
Moving on to Castle. I still say he does remember what happened. Something about it this entire episode didn't feel right. Or the writers had no clue how to explain what happened at the end of last season's episode. So they made it ambiguous now in order to drag it out so they can come up with something hopefully good later on in the season.
:) I wasn't referring to youth as the reason to why that hasn't happened to me. I'm referring that I'm still young and who knows what will happen in the future. I should've probably explained that one better.
To be honest I've stood away from interviews and spoilers as best I could so I can better enjoy the show. So I pretty much know close to nothing about the things that are going to follow.
that was a great episode. just great. now i need to know what happened and who did it. and i would prefer if castle was from the start behind all this...
I was extremely disappointed and horrified that the writers would make it so easy for Beckett to just lose faith in Castle and begin interrogating him while he's in the hospital! I feel a though I have lost my love for her and she now has to earn it back.
UUGGHH...so how many episodes do we have to watch to find out what happened to Castle???...the Whole Season trying to find out???...and how about the Wedding?...do we have to wait for the Finale AGAIN???...UUGGHH.....
Beckett has lost faith in Castle every season. This is just another instance that you can add to the long list of times she either thought of herself first, didn't believe in him,or lost faith in him. Castle deserves better than that.
Maybe i shouldn't say she lost faith in him every season, but she certainty didn't believe in him every season..
I think it was a poor episode. The acting seemed false, except for that scene with Kate interrogating that fat guy. Kate was crying most of the time, so unlike her. Castle didn't have anything deep to say just shallow things, if you ask me. I have definitely seen much better I think this was one of the poorest episodes from Castle's history.
It seems sort of ridiculous, but the idea I kept getting as I watched the episode, and the idea that stayed with me, is that it's indeed Castle that's behind the whole thing... but he doesn't know what he did. He comes up with conspiracy ideas for everything all the time (and they finally solved the conspiracy behind Beckett's mother's death) and he latched on to the idea of a vast conspiracy far too quickly, saying they have unlimited resources, they can alter memory, can do anything etc., and rejected anything that didn't help the idea, like the fact that it was him who dropped off the money.
I know. It's a really ridiculous idea. I am 99% sure that's not what happened. :D

ReplyDeleteI'm sorry but I'm really disappointed ....that's not a really good episode...
ReplyDeleteAfter all the wait and we got this ....they could've done it way better.

ReplyDeleteSimply NOT the Castle I have grown to love. Next episode I watch will be the wedding episode. Marlowe's decision on when that will be.
ReplyDeletethere should be another option called "what?"

ReplyDeleteGlad they at least brought Castle back before the end of the ep. Good episode but they are on probation.
I don't know what meds you took but in my entire life I've never had a moment where I can't remember what I did the previous day. Granted I'm still young.
ReplyDeleteMoving on to Castle.
ReplyDeleteTo be honest I've stood away from interviews and spoilers as best I could so I can better enjoy the show. So I pretty much know close to nothing about the things that are going to follow.
that was a great episode. just great. now i need to know what happened and who did it. and i would prefer if castle was from the start behind all this...
ReplyDeleteI was extremely disappointed and horrified that the writers would make it so easy for Beckett to just lose faith in Castle and begin interrogating him while he's in the hospital! I feel a though I have lost my love for her and she now has to earn it back.
ReplyDeleteUUGGHH...so how many episodes do we have to watch to find out what happened to Castle???...the Whole Season trying to find out???...and how about the Wedding?...do we have to wait for the Finale AGAIN???...UUGGHH.....
ReplyDeleteBeckett has lost faith in Castle every season. This is just another instance that you can add to the long list of times she either thought of herself first, didn't believe in him,or lost faith in him. Castle deserves better than that.
ReplyDeleteMaybe i shouldn't say she lost faith in him every season, but she certainty didn't believe in him every season..
Loved the episode! Really liked the mystery aspect! Looks to be a great season!
ReplyDeleteI think it was a poor episode. The acting seemed false, except for that scene with Kate interrogating that fat guy. Kate was crying most of the time, so unlike her. Castle didn't have anything deep to say just shallow things, if you ask me. I have definitely seen much better I think this was one of the poorest episodes from Castle's history.
ReplyDeleteAwful, just awful. I huge fan of Castle, but I think was the worse premiere to date, I hope the rest of the season fix this bad impression.
ReplyDeleteIt seems sort of ridiculous, but the idea I kept getting as I watched the episode, and the idea that stayed with me, is that it's indeed Castle that's behind the whole thing... but he doesn't know what he did.
ReplyDeleteI know. It's a really ridiculous idea. I am 99% sure that's not what happened. :D
