Why!!! Why!!! Did they do that?!?!?!? Omg!!! I'm so sad!!! I'm crying!! He was gonna have a baby!! And he made Booth the godfather!! And that ending!! My heart! They're definitely gonna find this SOB now!! I can't believe we just saw that. I'm very shocked! = (
MOTHER FU>>KING BASTARDS, BUTCHER THEM EVERY ONE OF THEM AND BURN THAT BUILDING TO THE GROUND, AND MURDER ALL THEIR FAMILIES DAMN IT GOD WHY HE WAS ONE MY FAVORITE CHARACTER I"M SERIOUSLY DOUBTING SEEING THE SHOW SOBBING WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am sick. What is wrong with the writers?!!!! I could see if they had to do away with the character Daisy but not Sweets! The fans that follow this show deserve better stories. Oh, and the new FBI dweeb is not going to cut it as a replacement for Sweets'character.
I just want to point out one thing (my god i'm sad, still crying) did anyone else enjoy seeing "Holland Manners" with "Angel" again?? Orr the old guy in the wheel chair with "Angel" again?? I kept thinking, wow who else from Angel are they going to get to pop up in this episode??
Right now I am putting a real hating on the Bones show runners. So what if the actor was going to be away for a while to do a film----- he could have been written out for a while. It is pathetic how these powers that be enjoy jerking their fan bases around and are so proud when their loyal fans are crushed and consider that a job well done.
I am sorry. By rights, I shouldn't even be in the comments section given that I gave up on the show at the end of S8 (I loved 'Bones' but by the time S8 ended, something snapped in me and I was completely turned off by the show).
I read tweets about tonight's episode and came to see what the fuss was about. :)
There was no point in killing Sweets. The stakes were already high enough and the motivation already existed for Booth and Bones to get to the bottom of this conspiracy. Whomever is behind the conspiracy already tried to kill Booth and has no qualms about using Bones or Christine as leaverage, nor would have any problems if they were to become collateral damage. The Jeffersonian crew already were standing solidly behind Booth by helping Bones any way they could. The only point in writing Daisy's pregnancy was to make Lance's death affect the viewers more. This viewer says Lance's death stings more than enough. If the point is for Agent Aubrey to fill the void that now exists due to Lance's death, then this show has completely missed the mark.
Devestated. The problem with killing Sweets off like that is that it not only makes future episodes tough to enjoy, but it kind of screws up reruns, too. How can I enjoy my afternoon Bones episodes now with all the adorable Sweets/Booth moments and not think of the fact that the show - all in one episode - gave him everything he'd always wanted and then BEAT HIM TO DEATH! Jesus. What a freakin' awful way to write out John Francis Daley. If they wanted to have him finally get together with Daisy and have a kid, then ship 'em off together to the Maluku Islands again or something. Don't give the abused foster child/Baby Duck the family he's always wanted and then BEAT HIM TO DEATH. Seriously. I just can't believe they killed him like that. I'm going to go marathon Freaks and Geeks to make myself feel better. Thank God Sam Weir lives!
That would have had more of an impact if Twitter hadn't spoiled me but fuck, that hurt and I'm so upset. Poor Daisy. And at least a part of Sweets will live on in the baby (it's actually one of my favorite tropes but never like this).
I was not prepared for season premieres emotionally destroying me this week but they succeeded. Not ready for next week.
To have Lance not only beaten to death, but to see him on the ground in agony with massive internal injuries as he bled out before he died was just too twisted for words. At least when Nigel died it was so sudden that he didn't feel the shot or realized what had happened. Why couldn't that kind of mercy be given to Lance?
Sweet death is really sad as Detective Carter from POI.......both close to take out the people involve and just like that they are murdered......I hope Bones punch the person in the face who care what the consequences is........because killing a FBI employee is serious probably death penalty
This was just mean!!! I was totally not expecting that! At least not until he took the court order or whatever and I was like "oh s***! What are they gonna do to Sweets!?!?"
I better make sure to have lots of tissues next episode...
You know, I just KNEW it. As soon as I saw the name of the second episode, I KNEW they were going to do something terrible to him. After "Pain in the Heart" and "Hole in the Heart," I knew "Lance to the Heart" was going to be a bad sign for my Sweets. But I kept hoping maybe just maybe it was instead going to be about him and Daisy somehow. Or him being injured and off canvas for a while but not dead. But seriously. I'm just rocked. I know it's just a damn show, but I keep thinking of all his sweet naive goofy moments over the past 7 seasons and I don't know how I'll ever watch reruns again knowing how the poor guy winds up. So much for Sweets and his "truly good heart." Wow. This just sucks.
I think the reason Sweets was killed because the people involve in the conspiracy is scared/desperate because of how close booth, bones, and the team are close to the truth.....I thinking these people will think Booth will back down because Sweet death could mean an target for everyone esle
Sweets' death threw me for a loop. I'm still in shock! I can't believe he got killed of. His bromance with Booth made the show all that better. I'm going to miss him.
Yes, that's a good idea. That's probably why the people involved in the conspiracy did it... But I think it might on the contrary motivate Booth even more to catch them so that his family and friends are finally safe
I completely understand the show needing to deal with John Francis Daley's increasingly busy schedule due to his other projects. However, to write off Lance's character in such a violent way seems like a passive agressive way to do it. Why not find a way to write off Lance so there is the option for this character to return, especially since this may be the final season for Bones.
WOW! I'm almost speechless!! I thought the ep was fantastic! I was digging the new guy, he's a little quirky which is cool, Booth looked hot in orange, then whamo! I did NOT see that coming...ok, I did kinda think something might happen when he insisted he would get the file, but I certainly didn't think they'd kill him!! When Bones lost Nigel, it was a pivotal moment for her (them since they got together that night) I wonder how this will affect Booth. As sad as it is to lose one of my favourite characters, I know something good will come of this. Rarely do we see much emotion from Booth. He’s so private with his feelings, I’m really hoping the writers do this opportunity justice.
I think the writers did it because his death would raise the sense of danger surrounding the conspiracy which I do not agree with because it's already been raised by the assault on Booth and Brennan's home and Booth going to jail.
So did I! I was trying to program my dvr and got the date wrong. I saw the title "Lance to the Heart" and my heart sank! Didnt read the ep description but i knew , hoped i would be wrong!
Whoa, I am still a bit in shock over that one! I figured the death of someone would be in the upcoming "heart" episode. That's usually when they shock us with something traumatic, like Vincent's death, or Zack's downfall. So I was totally shocked. Sweets has never been my favorite character, although he kinda grew on me over time, but still--I shed some tears over this one.
I agree. If it's the last season, why kill him off, and why before his kid is born. That doesn't make a lot of sense. But Hart and Stephen's choices are sometimes out there is space!
I haven't watched it yet, but I cannot believe all of these comments. Sweets is (was) the main reason why watch Bones. DId this seriously happen? I'm actually shocked right now. Probably won't be wtaching the rest of the season, because there isn't a good enough reason anymore. Wow...
Because they're making you feel so deeply, I argue that they are brilliant! I wasn't a huge Sweets fan but I didn't mute the TV when he was on screen and I am sad he's no longer a part of the show. I'm also really looking forward to seeing how the rest of the team uses their grief and anger to fuel their hunt for the killer and solve the conspiracy.
Have I been ignoring spoilers better than I thought I was or did they manage to keep the completely under wraps?
I was absolutely shocked.
beyond that Awesome episode. new guy...I'm luke warm on but David Boreanaz's performance was solid.
Now I have to figure out if I should tell my cousin what to expect. She was majorly pissed at me for not warning her about the Dexter finale when Rita was killed.
I almost had to look at the Info pop-up on my DVR to make sure I was watching Bones and not another show with a bada$$ character that starts with a B. Brennan was awesome when she blackmailed the prosecutor! She was so calm, cool and collected but you could see the restrained seethe; fantastic acting Ms. Deschanel!
I think they think their job is to make the show more relevant and garner more attention by bursting twitter with a pointless cruel blow to their fan base. I have a more pragmatic idea of what they think their job is and it involves network suits. But I am not intending to criticize you or your view as I understand what you are saying.
And that is exactly how I took it. Sadly you are correct as well. Network suits ask the writers to create buzz which they feel equates to increased ratings which then equates to increased revenue and everything else that makes the suits happy.
Yeah I really loved when she blackmailed that guy and I thought Booth in jail was great. I found him incredibly sexy. The fighting back, and his beard made him very rugged. But damn I was so glad he got out of there, and their new home was beautiful. It was a fantastic episode overall.
Hahahaha nice so did I. I loved it. When they showed the guy in the chair, I immediately flashed back to the episode where he switched Bodies with Angel. LOL I loved that episode. And Holland, I mean c'mon, it's Holland Manners. Lol And in this episode they were still enemies. Hahahaha that was great.
Bones has enough quirky characters already. If the new agent is supposed to fill the void of no Sweets, the writers are wrong. If they feel a need to replace Sweets, bring back the British psychologist who worked with Booth when Booth shot the ice cream clown head. I think the writers are a little bit sadistic.
Just checked out the poll and people sure have a strange opinion of what makes the episode awful LOL!!! It was so well done and had me on the edge of my seat just like last season's finale, but because they killed off a major character that is all forgotten?!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
How could they do that!?!?! Not Sweets..why…..I can't believe i.
ReplyDeleteLANCE SWEETS CANNOT BE HE CAN"T BE I THOUGHT HE HAD A STORYLINE SOON DAMN IT HE CAN'T BE NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
ReplyDeleteSo Did not see that coming........

ReplyDeleteOh my goodness!!!!! I am crying...... NOT Sweets!!!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe this.... why sweets
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked they actually did it.
ReplyDeleteDevistating!!! Sweets can't believe it!
ReplyDeleteWhy!!! Why!!! Did they do that?!?!?!? Omg!!! I'm so sad!!! I'm crying!! He was gonna have a baby!! And he made Booth the godfather!! And that ending!! My heart! They're definitely gonna find this SOB now!! I can't believe we just saw that. I'm very shocked! = (
ReplyDeleteHE WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A FATHER AND A GREAT ONE AT THAT AAAAAAAAAAARGH WHYYYYYYYY
ReplyDeleteWhy did they kill Sweet's I didn't see that coming at all still in denial
ReplyDeleteI'm really not liking the show right now. Lance was one of my favorite characters.
ReplyDeleteI thought his storyline this season was going to be about him figuring out how kind of parent he will be to his child.
ReplyDeleteMOTHER FU>>KING BASTARDS, BUTCHER THEM EVERY ONE OF THEM AND BURN THAT BUILDING TO THE GROUND, AND MURDER ALL THEIR FAMILIES DAMN IT GOD WHY HE WAS ONE MY FAVORITE CHARACTER I"M SERIOUSLY DOUBTING SEEING THE SHOW SOBBING WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am sick. What is wrong with the writers?!!!! I could see if they had to do away with the character Daisy but not Sweets! The fans that follow this show deserve better stories. Oh, and the new FBI dweeb is not going to cut it as a replacement for Sweets'character.
ReplyDeletewhy make daisy pregnant if lance won't be there to raise his baby DAMN IT I HATE THESE WRITERS
ReplyDeleteGuess this really is the final season
ReplyDeleteI just want to point out one thing (my god i'm sad, still crying) did anyone else enjoy seeing "Holland Manners" with "Angel" again?? Orr the old guy in the wheel chair with "Angel" again?? I kept thinking, wow who else from Angel are they going to get to pop up in this episode??

ReplyDeleteDaisy is pregnant in real life.
ReplyDeleteDid not see that coming.....

Shocked, did not see that coming I have to rewatch this episode but it was good until the end. :(

ReplyDeletewho is behind the conspiracy? I guessing we have to find out next week
ReplyDeleteNo no nooooooooo so sad
ReplyDeleteIt was an awesome premiere. But I can't believe Sweets is gone, I did not see that coming at all! I just can't believe it, I'm still in shock.
ReplyDeleteThat would have had more of an impact if Twitter hadn't spoiled me but fuck, that hurt and I'm so upset. Poor Daisy. And at least a part of Sweets will live on in the baby (it's actually one of my favorite tropes but never like this).

ReplyDeleteGreat premiere all the same though, in my opinion! :D
apart from Sweets, I found the episode rather luckluster

ReplyDeleteAwesome episode, but bad ending. I hope to see this people not only brought to justice but also put on the death penalty.
ReplyDeleteYou do realise it's a TV show and he's not actually dead!
ReplyDelete;-p
Yes, a little deja vu! Picked it up right away!
ReplyDeleteFor more emotional impact. What would be the point in killing off a character if nobody cared?
ReplyDeleteWOW! I'm almost speechless!! I thought the ep was fantastic! I was digging the new guy, he's a little quirky which is cool, Booth looked hot in orange, then whamo! ReplyDeleteI read a while ago that since Horrible Bosses, John Frances Daley wanted to write more. Just didn't figure he'd go out that way.
ReplyDeleteHello, after a fight in jail, visitation would of been cancelled. Poor black inmate, on his own now.
ReplyDeleteSWEETS, NOOOOOOOO
I missed that
ReplyDeleteWas just thinking the same thing, gonna have to record, grab some wine, tissue & enjoy, commercial FREE
ReplyDeleteUsually the end of season when I get depressed not start of season! I'm going to miss sweet . 😢

ReplyDeleteOver The Years You Grow To Love A Character So It's Very Upsetting When They Die.
ReplyDeleteI get being shocked or somewhat upset but getting worked up to this degree over a fictional character is pretty sad (and not in the emotional way).
ReplyDeleteI Am Not Worked Up I Am Just Saying People Have A Right To Be Upset Over A Character Dying.
ReplyDelete
