Production has begun on the new series of Still Open All Hours for BBC One, filming on location in Doncaster and at the studios in Teddington.
The show sees Sir David Jason reprise his role as Granville, running the corner shop with his son Leroy (James Baxter). We follow Granville’s antics as he comes up with new schemes to make money and continues his pursuit of old flame Mavis (Maggie Ollerenshaw) under the beady eye of her sister Madge (Brigit Forsyth)
The series will see the return of original characters Nurse Gladys Emmanuel (Lynda Baron) and Mrs Featherstone, aka The Black Widow (Stephanie Cole). Also returning for the new series from last December’s special is the pessimistic Eric played by Johnny Vegas, Mrs Hussein played by Nina Wadia and Cyril played by Kulvinder Ghir.
Also joining the cast for the series is Tim Healy playing Gastric, a man whose stomach has a mind of its own. As his wife has left him, love sick Gastric turns to Granville who sees himself as his romantic adviser.
Written by Roy Clarke, Still Open All Hours is a BBC In-house Comedy production produced by Alex Walsh-Taylor and the executive producer is Gareth Edwards.
