Justice League: DC reply to Marvel's The Avengers
ReplyDeleteShazam is a kid. The whole concept is that the character can be responsible, dadult and funny ate the same time. I understand why they want more "serious" movies, but I don't think that's gonna work with Shazam.
ReplyDeleteActually the Justice League was first (1960) while the Avengers didn't appear until 1963.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that sounds off is the domain name for Wonder Woman. Shazam and Aquaman sounds like they'll just be called that with the additional 'movie' on the link, but 'the movie' added to Wonder Woman…I don't know, it makes it sound like the film could actually be called Wonder Woman: The Movie, like Superman: The Movie.
ReplyDeleteI think Pablo was obviously referring to cinema, seeing as he said 'Marvel's The Avengers', which is the title of the film(aside from other areas where the film is called Avengers Assemble).
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I don't think it even is DC's reply to Marvel Studios in any way. DC has been trying to create a shared universe experience for many years, dating back to Nic Cage as Superman and Michael Keaton returning as Batman. Then there was Justice League: Mortal. And DC's failed attempt with starting a shared universe with Green Lantern. But, by seeing how well Marvel Studios has been doing, it's put a fire under WB's butt to actually get things movie, but by no means is it an actual "reply" to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

ReplyDeleteI agree but dumb Marvel fans will keep saying DC is ripping off Marvel because they usually know nothing about the comics and are just fans of the movies.

I meant in cinema, I know Justice League was first historically, but the idea of making a movie about it doesn't come up until Marvel released The Avengers, a movie that also caused huge synergy with their franchises and propped up their success levels to the roof. So I think DC wants to have that kind of success as well, because so far they have only found hits on Cristopher Nolan's Batman and Superman, so now they need something so they can lift the rest of their franchises
ReplyDeleteWell to be honest DC did sort of shift into a new terriorty after Marvel boomed. DC is really supposed to be Detective Comics which is why Batman made sense but as years passed well yeah you can see the clear shift
