“There isn’t one in the pipe,” Downey said. “No, there’s no plan for a fourth ‘Iron Man.'”
The actor, in Toronto to promote his new film “The Judge,” signed with Marvel and Disney for two “Avengers” sequels, which hit theaters summer 2015 and 2018, but has been reluctant to commit to any more superhero films.
When asked if he would “let” somebody else play Tony Stark, Downey laughed off the idea.
“I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for Marvel,” he said.
“Don’t give it to anybody else,” his “Judge” costar Robert Duvall advised.

I can't blame them. Their schedule is soooo busy for at least the next four years, and there's even been some lobbying for a Black Widow movie. I think even Marvel needs some breathing room.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the Iron Man movies but I say good they aren't in any talks for another one. To many movie creators are making unnecessary prequels, sequels and so on of movies that don't need them. Now if it was going to be a well done, well written one that they take their time perfecting it I could be cool with it but I hate seeing movies just rushed to order before the current one of the series is even out of the theatres. Often just based solely on the fact that the movie made money so hey why the hell not beat the dead horse of this movie series to death.
ReplyDeleteI feel like there wasn't much of a point to the "All Hail the King" short if there's never going to be an Iron Man movie where Iron Man takes on the "real" Mandarin, but that's the only necessity I see for an Iron Man 4, and that doesn't have to come any time terribly soon, especially if they want to wait until magic and alien-tech-on-Earth becomes more prevalent in the Marvel universe to more easily facilitate the Mandarin's "magic"/alien rings being utilized in the film.
ReplyDeleteHahaha, this isn't new or surprising. We already knew this, (well i did, idk about anyone else). I'm glad they won't make another one. We'll see him in Avengers 2 and 3, and w/e other future Marvel movies they have in the works. But a standalone Iron Man 4, i really think there's no need. The movies were great (Iron Man 2 was lousy). They should leave it like that. Not turn it into POTC. smh.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not new news, they managed to get RDJ to sign up for Avengers 2 and 3 for a hefty paycheck and would have to renegotiate his contract again for any more Iron Man movies. Mostly though its time for the MCU to expand and the success of Guardians shows you don't need a known character to do well. I love RDJ and Tony but I'm happy for him to stick to the Avengers films and allow others to shine.
