Three years after ABC unsuccessfully tried to reboot Charlie's Angels, NBC is trying another approach.
Awkward alum Annabel Oakes has set up In Security, a half-hour comedy at NBC, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
From Sony Pictures Television, In Security centers on four very un-Charlie's Angels female bodyguards/private investigators whose invisibility in society makes their jobs easier — and everything else harder.

The only reason Charlies Angels didn't work was because they decided to go the 'glamour and style' route instead of actually going for action/fun.
ReplyDeleteWhat the? Is the Americanization of In Security, the Canadian half-hour?
ReplyDeleteI thought it was this, too, but it's something else entirely
ReplyDeleteThe problem with the Charlie's Angels reboot wasn't the concept, but the execution. They took themselves way too serious. The reason people did like the movies and didn't like the reboot was simply because the movies were more fun/comedic.
ReplyDeleteIt's good that they're trying again, sort of, but I'm just a little sad the actual Charlies's Angels reboot failed.
Can we read " invisibility in society" as ugly looking women instead of hot models? If so this seems sort of rude. What would be the description on the casting call say "Plain, average looking women, 35 to 45, size 12, brown eyes, brown possibly slightly greying hair"?
ReplyDeleteBut a show about 4 competent women of various ages, ethnicities and sizes who are part of a successful security agency could be interesting.
True the show would have worked if it fun like the 2000 movie. The show was just bland and Minkas acting skills were not great at all.
ReplyDeleteThe writing sucked and so did some of the acting. That's why Charlie's Angels failed as a reboot. If they do it again it should be more like the first movie. The second one wasn't very good.
ReplyDeleteHa! If this is taking the approach I think it is, I'm on board with the idea. Here's hoping the execution delivers...
