NETFLIX ORDERS THIRD SEASON OF “HEMLOCK GROVE”

Final Ten Episodes will Conclude Series on Netflix in 2015

BEVERLY HILLS, CA - SEPTEMBER 2, 2014 - The Netflix Original Series "Hemlock Grove," from Gaumont International Television, a riveting and eerie mystery from executive producer Eli Roth and based on Brian McGreevy’s novel of the same name, has been picked up for a third and final season. Showrunner Charles H. (Chic) Eglee will return for the ten-episode final season which is slated to premiere on Netflix in 2015.

“We are so grateful to the fans of ‘Hemlock Grove’ who have championed the series so intensely over two seasons,” said executive producer Eli Roth. “We are looking forward to taking the last and final season into some dark and unexpected places, and to giving viewers the killer finale you’d come to expect from ‘Hemlock Grove.’”

“We are delighted that our fans have invited us back to explore the fiendish recesses of the human condition for another season. Knowing it will be our last, gives us the opportunity to go out in a mushroom cloud of clever and soul shattering mayhem. See you soon on the twisted streets of Hemlock Grove,” said executive producer Chic Eglee.

“We, along with the fans, are looking forward to visiting Hemlock Grove one last time, and we know that Chic, Eli and the team will provide a riveting and mind bending conclusion to complete the series” said Cindy Holland, Netflix Vice President of Original Programming.

“The fan support of Hemlock Grove has been amazing and we are thrilled Netflix recognizes this and is rewarding the fans with a third and final season. We look forward to delivering a thrilling, suspenseful and bold narrative for this final chapter. Working closely with Netflix has and continues to be an invaluable collaboration for Gaumont International Television,” said Katie O’Connell, CEO, of Gaumont International Television.

The second season launched on Netflix in July 2014 to a tremendous outpouring from fans. In the second season, the town of Hemlock Grove continued to come to grips with the shocking massacre incurred by one of its deadliest creatures. Roman (Bill Skarsgård) and Peter (Landon Liboiron) faced new responsibilities and the realities that come with adulthood. Roman struggled with his relationship with his mother (Famke Janssen) as he wrestled with his unwanted Upir birthright and the disappearance of his sister, Shelley (Madeleine Martin). Peter moved in with Destiny (Kaniehtiio Horn) and was forced to get a job after his mother was sent away. Meanwhile, in search of a new life, newcomer Miranda Cates (Madeline Brewer), embarked on Hemlock Grove with an unknowingly profound effect on Peter and Roman. And Norman (Dougray Scott), still reeling from the loss of his family, faced the harsh truth about those he loved.

The second season starred Famke Janssen (Olivia Godfrey), Bill Skarsgård (Roman Godfrey), Landon Liboiron (Peter Rumancek), Dougray Scott (Dr. Norman Godfrey), Madeleine Martin (Shelley Godfrey), Madeline Brewer (Miranda Cates), Kaniehtiio Horn (Destiny Rumancek), Joel de la Fuente (Dr. Johann Pryce) and Demore Barnes (Michael Chasseur).

The drama series is the first foray into television by internationally acclaimed horror master Eli Roth ("Hostel," "Cabin Fever"). It was developed by Brian McGreevy & Lee Shipman and is executive produced by Roth, Eglee, McGreevy & Shipman, Eric Newman and Michael Connolly. The one-hour gothic thriller is produced by Gaumont International Television for Netflix.

  2. Hungry for more? Not really. If anything this show proved that the name Skarsgard doesen't make you a good actor by default

  3. Though season 2 was bad,i wanted them to wrap everything up properly. So,it's the perfect scenario for me!

  4. Bittersweet! I'm glad they ordered a new season but sad it's the last.
I liked the second season, and love Bill Skarsgard so I can't wait to see more.

  5. Is this show worth watching? I have read mixed reviews about it. I love horror tv shows so I was curious about this. Is it more like Bates Motel or Hannibal or it's another crappy show that pretends to be horror like American Horror Story Coven?

  6. if you considered AHS:Coven to be bad don't bother with this

  7. IMO Alexander is the least talented family member.

  8. Looking at his terrible performance in season 7 that might be the case. But Bill, oh geez. There is so much wrong with his entire performance. That overly 'cool' and expresionless look he gives to make up for his lack of emotional range is...unexcusable

  9. I love horror shows! But I couldn't even finish the pilot of this one. I know pilots are usually shaky but damn. If you do watch it let me know if it picks up?

  10. I don't like AHS: Coven but I actually love Hemlock Grove. It is just weird and surreal and campy, it *knows* it's campy and it's not nearly as terrible as people make it out to be. Leaps better than TWD.

  11. That's pretty awesome, I had a feeling they were going for three seasons anyway, the books were supposed to be a trilogy.

  12. I AM SO EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. it's really good. it has some ...feel to it ? similar to AHS but it doesn't /try/ to be AHS. It's its own type of show. It's campy, creepy at times, shocking at other times, boring sometimes and all around...a show that doesn't take itself...at least too entirely serious?

  14. Thanks for your comment. I think I will give it a try in the future. Right now I'm watching SoA (currently S4) and I was planning to watch another show that's close to being finished.
I don't like TWD because I read the comics first and the show is like a extremely water down version of them.

  15. From what I saw on tumblr I thought it was more straight up horror and I had no idea it was kind of campy but it's good to know.
I don't mind a horror show being campy as long as it isn't supernatural Glee like Coven was.

  19. Yea I Love this Hemlock Grove also. For me I love the weird. And I don't find it one bit confusing, I understand the subtle hints and deeper meanings in the show.

  20. Hannibal is superior to all three, it's a masterpiece to the genre. Bates Motel is average. American Horror Story: Coven was absolutely horrible and not in a good way.

Hemlock Grove, in my opinion lies somewhere between Hannibal and Bates Motel. It's nowhere near a masterpiece, but I think it's better than just average. I suppose 'good' fits best. Some aspects of the show are poorly done while others get it just right. It's really up to taste, it certainly has its flaws.

  21. It's campy for sure. It definitely isn't a Glee. It's actually refreshing in that it's not so much one of those shows revolving around 'teen angst'.

And the relationships are more mature, despite them being teens, it's more in the background as plot devices rather than purely for melodrama as you see in Coven.

  22. Me too. Seems like the only time people can accept something like this is if it's on HBO or something. *eye roll*

  23. In some of the original interviews (which feels like AGES AGO) they kind of hinted it would be around three seasons, I think it only was ever going to be more if it was hugely, hugely popular. From how people talk it seems like the viewership for season two was down significantly... I wonder if that's the case. Nevertheless, it's very encouraging that Netflix's first supernatural/horror series will be concluded with a real ending, and it definitely ups the likelihood of me investing time in Netflix series.

  24. Thank you for sharing your opinion. I think I will give it a try.

  25. I'm happy for the wrap-up season. I enjoyed the show. The first season was awesome, having the book to go off of.

  26. I'm really excited for season 3!
