This plot element and characterization unfortunately strikes me as the weakest one; with the forced tension between Renee Montoya and Barbara Kean being: well, forced.
Unfortunately, and this is a case where comic book canon falls short: her only real purpose in this story is to be the mother of a certain daughter that will share her name and go on to greatness of her own.
If the producers try to trump up some false drama, then they will run the risk of "CW" -izing this show, which should be avoided at all cost!
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
