Family Guy - The Simpsons Guy - Review: "When The Griffins came to Springfield"

Please note: I will not be doing weekly reviews of the show , only occasional ones for specials , crossovers etc.

Peter starts creating an article for a newspaper called for Pete's sake. His "Pete's sake" cartoons are deemed unfunny and sexist by woman, which obviously because it is Peter they are. The woman of Cohog rally outside the Griffins home shouting "You're sexist" at him. This forces the Griffins to leave town in a matter of urgency. So they set off and finally stumble across a little old town called Springfield.

I was first a bit skeptical going into the episode , thinking if they would pull it off. The crossover did both worlds justice and provided us with many gags to take away with us. It does slow down in some places , but there are some nice easter eggs on both sides, to more than make up for it.

I did prefer the Family Guy jokes over The Simpsons ones though probably because I watch Family Guy a lot more and I am used to there type of humor , although both shows pulled off some equally good laughs and there were times when I thought The Simpsons characters told the better joke in some scenes. There was a nice touch at the beginning of the episode when they were talking about how crossovers never work , how they don't feel natural, the expectation was very low from a viewer standpoint , but the show didn't fail to deliver one of the most memorable episodes ever. Each of the Griffins befriended a counterpart from The Simpsons. They each had their own unique jokes , partically Peter and Homer, who were the stand out pair in the episode as you would expect. Lots of crazy things happen , they throw insults back and forth at one another and even have one the best fights Family Guy has offered... which seemed to last forever. They even went into space before ultimately landing flat on their faces back on earth.

Here are a few of my favorite moments from the episode

The car wash scene is indescribable you have to really see it for yourself in order to get the full experience of what happened there. When Peter and Homer put on a show for the drive by customers. It certainly was a show I felt as if I was watching Grown Ups 2 again when the men were rubbing themselves against the windows of the cars and hitting one another with their wet sponges. It was a montage of soapy greatness for the two unsexy characters trying to act flirty and sexy, I was like Fat Tony , I despised it , it was extremely cringe worthy. The Simpsons "car wash" panned out like the Grown ups 2 "car wash scene" , although the image was slightly worse, which will probably stick with me for a while.
Who could forget the epic 10 minute fight scene which seemed to last a whole 9 minutes more than it should have. I liked it when they looked like Green Lantern and they that were fighting in the air , I thought that they did have so many great ideas jammed into one fight sequence which was really entertaining to watch. The different ways to try and kill one another was quite creative, although some may argue the fight scene was a little graphic with the eyeball sockets nearly getting pulled out and when they were almost near death in the canyon. The fight first started at The Simpsons home where it continued on a bus , the power plant , in a spaceship where we even had Roger from American Dad pop in for a visit and it even continued into the canyon. It was a brilliant fight sequence that was very spectacular , and also offered us some jokes throughout it.
I liked the scene when they were all eating at the table and Marge questions Brian's desire to sit at the table , he has to eat in the kitchen like a real dog much to Brian's dismay. He tries to befriend Santa's little helper , which doesn't turn out successful at first. I liked how Brian thought he was superior, even though he still drinks out of the toilet and acts like a normal dog. They started off on a rough patch , but soon became to like one another as the episode progressed which was nice to see.
I am pretty sure that Matt Groening was in the episode at one point sitting behind Joe and Bonnie , I am not sure if Seth Mcfarlene was shown in the episode , I know I didn't see him.If you did see him let me know in the comments. I was keeping my eyes glued to the screen trying to find him. I wonder what he would look like in Family Guy form.

"Hey its not a rip off from duff , it may have been inspired by duff , but I like to think it goes in a different direction"

Summary
The Crossover was one the best crossovers I have seen and was a barrel of laughs. In a few weeks there will be a Simpsons - Futarama Crossover coming so I hope that will be as good as this was or maybe better.

As always , thank you for reading! Let me know in the comments what you thought of the episode!
