The premiere of USA Network’s action adventure event series, DIG, originally slated for this fall, has been shifted to 2015. The move was fully expected given the logistical issues the show faced when the Gaza conflict prevented it from filming in Jerusalem beyond the pilot. The production took time to evaluate the situation and eventually settled on alternative locations, Croatia, where it is currently filming, and Albuquerque, New Mexico, where it will go next. The unexpected production issues put a strain on the series’ schedule, so the network has decided to give it more time to complete the rest of its order. What’s more, I hear that, despite the challenges, USA brass loved the pilot and are high on the series, seriously considering picking up additional episodes beyond the originally ordered six.
Dig‘s move to 2015 won’t leave a hole on USA’s fall schedule– the network already moved up the six-episode final season of White Collar, originally scheduled for 2015, to November.
DIG, from Heroes creator Tim Kring and Gideon Raff, creator of the Israeli series on which Showtime’s Homeland was based, centers on Peter (Jason Isaacs), an FBI agent stationed in Jerusalem who, while investigating a murder of a woman archaeologist, uncovers a conspiracy 2000 years in the making that threatens to change the course of history. Kring and Raff are exec producing with Avi Nir, Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and Gene Stein.
