Castle - Season 7 Premiere - Advance Preview
Sep 29, 2014
BS Castle ReviewsIf you don't remember, season 6 finale left us with Richard Caslte heading to his wedding to Katherine Beckett. On his way over, he sees himself being followed by a black SUV. Not soon after that Beckett gets a call and we then see Castle's car engulfed in flames at the bottom of a ditch.
The premiere starts pretty much exactly after we left off in the season 6 finale. Espo, Ryan, Martha and Alexis are all gathered around the accident site. As seen in the short promo for the new season, Beckett soon discovers that Castle is not in thus car. Thus begins the search for Richard Castle. As Kate begins following the evidence in search of Castle, she does a great job of composing herself. However, when she finds a potential suspect, she tries every means possible to get the information she needs him.
As the case progresses, Captain Gates suggests that Beckett let the FBI assist her in the case, which she grudgingly agrees. When FBI's Agent Connors played by Jon Lindstrom) asks Beckett to make of list of all the people from her and Castle's cases who could be involved in the abduction, naturally, the first people who come up and Senator Bracken and 3XK. Even Castle's father's name come up, but those are shunned aside, as we expected, since we were assured a new mythology for Castle's disappearance.
The episode sees the return of Vincent "The Scar" Cardano, a character first seen in the season 5 episode "Murder, He Wrote". A meeting with him leads to a crucial piece of evidence which takes the case to a completely new direction, a direction which no one (not even the viewers) would expect.
Now let's talk about the new mythology. I frankly found the new mythology a little underwhelming. However, one thing that I have to say that the writers came up with something that no one would have guessed or expected. It surely is mysterious and will definitely leave everyone talking. It may even divide the fandom on what they think actually happened.
Teasers:
- Castle began writing a novel called Tropical Storm and did extensive research on it, but ultimately scrapped it. Why? You'll find in the episode.
- Someone does an act that Castle usually does, which makes Beckett think that Castle is back.
- Alexis's kidnapping does come up again.
- Someone we met in the episode turns out to be not who he says he is.
- Surprisingly, one character close to Beckett who at least I thought would be seen again, is not seen in the episode.
- The ending will make you see Richard Castle in a new light.
Watch the season premiere of Castle on 29th September on ABC.

Good job getting the preview up so quickly
ReplyDeleteOMG! that's awesome. Seriously excited to the premiere.
ReplyDeleteThanks STV Guy
Thanks!
ReplyDelete*Kate. ;)
ReplyDeleteFixed that as soon as I made the post. :)
ReplyDeleteCastle premieres on the 29th not the 30th!
ReplyDeleteThanks, fixed.
ReplyDeleteAlso the Title of the 5th season episode is 'Murder He Wrote.'
ReplyDeleteHaha Thanks! And thanks for sharing those spoilers! =)
ReplyDeleteMy excitement for this season premier just got kicked up a notch. I love how Castle uses actors from daytime. Jon Lindstrom is a very talented guy.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been reading anything on Castle,i want to be surprised for once,ha! But i love the teasers, thanks!!!!
ReplyDeleteDid you get any others season premiers?? Or someone else from SpoilerTV?
ReplyDeleteit sounds very interesting! I think Season 7 will be the last one and the best.
ReplyDeletei m at last happy to see more castle backstory .the title of this show is castle for god sake. finally they r going with it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, STV guy it's hard enough with the wait for the new season you helped a lot with the advanced preview, I'm so excited and it's actually almost here, I'm happy cause so far it seems like it's finally about Richard that's really got me hyped, I like Kate but we do need more Castle yay, Thanks for the preview!!
ReplyDeleteThe premier sounds like it won't be dull. That's great, but many tune in for the humor. That does not sound like it will be around for awhile. I wonder how that will play?
ReplyDeleteKnowing that Castle is missing for 2 months, I'm interested to see how Castle returns and is changed. I hope he see a darker side of him throughout the season - PTSD, etc.
ReplyDeleteAlso, this new mythology needs to be really good 'cause I have high expectations. All these rumours about Castle being mixed up in the mob/organised crime sounds dumb and I hope it's not true.
It's a good question. Castle garnered a lot of audience thanks to the TNT airings, but those are seemingly here for the fun part. In last season the episodes with the lowest ratings (both the L+SD and the L+7 statistics) were the Big Mythology episodes, The Belly of the Beast and Veritas (both were series minimum). This was unthinkable a few seasons ago, those episodes were the most expected and most watched ones.
ReplyDeleteYeah, the premiere is really light on humor, and they way the episode ended I think that it might stay that way for a while.
ReplyDeleteI am wondering how does Kate deal with the massive press?
ReplyDeleteWe don't really see that, but we do see a lot of newspaper headlines about Castle being missing.
ReplyDeletewhat no TV shows like late night comedians?
ReplyDeleteSo excited about this ep from all the reviews it looks like a ep to my hart lol so gonna enjoy this :D
ReplyDeleteWhat is a peace of evidence?
ReplyDeleteIt's a typo.
ReplyDeleteI know, was just being a smartass. :)
ReplyDeleteI know, and I tried to out-smartass you, lol ;)
ReplyDeleteBTW, I don't like where the story's going. I know they're trying to make it not so boring and familiar, but I don't like this whole Castle is hiding so so many things. I know you can't tell us but at least nod if they find Castle by the end of this epi or not. Prob not. Sigh.
ReplyDelete*nods*
ReplyDeleteIs it Becketts dad we don't see? It would make sense for him to be there, but also makes sense if we dont see him.
ReplyDeleteFunny, I´m loving where the story´s going!:) I´m glad to see something different on a show I already love - it keeps my interest. And, from other reviews that I read, looks like it picked their interest too! And we still don´t know if Castle is hiding so many things...But I like to be challenged when I watch a show, I´m not one for just lightness.
ReplyDeleteyes many factors. Nathan did say he wants to go out with a bang. We all know of shows that went too long and just drove it to the ground. Time will tell...
ReplyDeleteWell, I do want to know about his past:)
ReplyDeleteLet's see how the writers handle the transition of placing Castle front and center instead of the punching bags he's become. As for the wedding, it's been dragged out sooo long it longer carries the excitement it should. If and when that happens so be it, ho,hum, let's move on to the new mmythology.
