TVLine has learned exclusively that on the heels of a drama-filled opening salvo of Season 7 episodes, ABC’s Castle will lighten things up with an “alternate reality” escapade that poses the provocative question: What if Rick and Kate had never met?
The specifics of what tees up this season’s reality-twisting sixth episode are under wraps, but series regular Jon Huertas, who plays Detective Javier Esposito, says it his favorite installment of the upcoming run.
Huertas says the hour will imagine “a completely different world” where all of the major characters exist, but in rejiggered ways. “It was a lot of fun, getting into that script and seeing how we might all be a bit different,” he shares. “It’s a really fun episode, and people are really going to enjoy it. It’s one of those episodes where you have to laugh.”

Yes, I love AU episodes! It's one of my favorite tropes. This should be fun.
ReplyDeleteI loved this an A/U episode!
ReplyDeleteThe Castle crew have pulled off some impressive one-off unique episodes in their time so I have full confidence that this will be another. I'm looking forward to this more than the season premiere!
ReplyDeleteWell, she should be dead about eight times over, so that should be a short episode!
ReplyDeleteOh! This is gonna be really exciting ! Can't wait to see it !
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteWell to be fair most of those were when she was going after he mother's killer and she likely never would have gone down that path.
ReplyDeleteThe idea seems very promising & castle really delivers in these kind of special episodes.Looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteAn AU episode offers endless possibilities to break out from the old mold, so it's a good news. The question is, are there enough creativity in the writers' room to live with it?
ReplyDeleteOTOH based on the latest examples, I have reservations when the cast members suggests how extremely funny the episode will be - the end result often showed that while it could have been fun to make, it was not so much fun to watch.
The Fringe effect.
ReplyDeleteNone of the two-parters were about Joanna's case and except the first one those had no connection with Castle either. (As a crime. Sophia's apperance could have happened without Castle as well.)
ReplyDeleteThat would be interesting.
ReplyDeleteSo 7.06 is not the wedding episode after all.
ReplyDeleteSo the sixth episode isn't the real wedding, then, as has been speculated?
ReplyDeleteSeriously where there actualy fans that thought that ep 6 would be a wedding? (those same fans prob thought that 6x23 would have a wedding) im quite suprised that a lot of people mainly the hardcore shippers are against this AU episode, i rather think that the wedding will be either ep 9 or 10 depending on how many episodes we get before the hiatus.

ReplyDeletewedding? (those same fans prob thought that 6x23 would have a wedding) im realy suprised that people thought that i mean there is no real spoilers about the ep the title doesnt realy suggest a wedding and in the middle of 1st part of the season is a odd time to do something this big i think that the wedding will be either ep 9 or 10 depending on how
many episodes we get before the hiatus also
im quite suprised that quite some fans mainly the hardcore shippers are
against this AU episode and are raging on twitter and tumblr right no.
I think it has a great potential to be a fantastic episode and I´m looking forward to it!
ReplyDeleteAnyone else a little terrified about why this episode exists? What brings on the Alternate reality? Do they get into a fight and one says "I wish I never met you?" and it causes all this? I don't like thinking this is all caused by angst. It would tear me apart for an hour.
ReplyDeleteI mean the plot's interesting. It's basically Fanficiton on TV, but still. Scaring me.
So there's like to be a Montgomery cameo, or even short-haired Beckett from S1?
ReplyDeleteThe only alternate reality i want if from Fringe..
ReplyDeleteUnless it happens at the end of the episode like some people at TVLine are theorizing.
ReplyDeleteI always wanted the Castle is the detective, Beckett is the writer AU and for them to maybe stick around with it for more than a simple episode.
ReplyDeleteThis could be good too though. We shall see.
HA! I'm positive it will be a lot more comedy here than Fringe! Though I'm also sure Walter would find a funny line to say about Castle. (6 days before Sleepy Hollow!)
ReplyDeleteI love AU episodes, specially on long runners, they are always fun!
ReplyDeleteI am so effing excited for this!!
ReplyDeleteAgreed. I'm not a fan either. I think most alt. reality episodes are nothing but forgettable, inconsequential filler episodes.
ReplyDeleteShould be nice to see... the romantic in me hopes that we see how much of a fan Beckett is of Castle the author... and even in an A/U, the forces-that-be have them meet, just in a different way... but that's prob. too cheesy I admit...
ReplyDeleteEpisode 6 might as well be the wedding. I mean, I'm not married or anything, but don't couples say something along the lines of "You have changed my life, and I don't know who I might have become if I never met you?" I like this concept. AU's are very interesting and I hope Castle continues to razzle-dazzle their loyal fans.
ReplyDeleteLove AU eps so they better not screw this up.
ReplyDeletethis ep looks very intresting i cant wait to see it
ReplyDeleteWhile I'd agree with you that Blue Butterfly didn't meet hype, the 70's ep. was hilarious.
ReplyDeleteThese guys always come up with really interesting stuff. :)
