Tommy said that early in season one.
ReplyDeleteMan that line :Runs in the family makes me laugh out loud. Because that applies also for making bad decisions, and addictions.
ReplyDeleteGot to be fantastic to be a flawless and idealized character, right? I mean...if I was a completely characterless character I'd probably be glad too.
ReplyDeleteOh wait...I wouldn't have any personality to be glad because I would be a walking blowup doll of a character that never makes poor decisions.
Yep, wasn't it in the pilot? I think it was in the pilot, at the very end with Oliver looking at them from a firescape or rooftop.
ReplyDeleteI waiting peacefully for a teaser for Quentin Lance.......there has been little to nothing about him.......
ReplyDeleteno one is idealizing anybody, but go ahead and jump to that conclusion. None of the characters on this show is perfect or flawless. They all make mistakes and at some point they will be faced with consequences. It was a little joke and i am sure it implied the whole lot of them makes questionable choices. from Sara to Laurel to their parents.
ReplyDeleteIf only,
ReplyDeleteI have yet to see [insert character I like but is mistaken for a complex character way too much while another I also like is bashed constantly] make a wrong call like Laurel did.
I'd say let's have her deal with similar issues like Laurel once and judge then but I know that won't happen.
That did NOT sound like a joke at all...I mean it didn't sound like anything because I read it but it came off like...well....a bash
Let's not fight/argue shall we?
ReplyDeleteTo be fair though, I sort of had the same thought in my head which made me laugh! Damn that genetic predisposition of hers. I blame Quentin :p
Glad that we even got a Laurel tease, let`s not ask for too much bud.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Did I mention Felicity anywhere? Nope.
ReplyDeleteThe only place here I mentioned Felicity was in the open Laurel-bashing contest Sparky started.
And why shouldn't I be bitter? For the first time we get a Laurel tease wich is followed by an official video introducing us to Arrows second season release while adressing the viewer as an Olicity fan,
Know what? Yeah, yeah I`m bitter. It wouldn't be a lose-lose situation if they released fairly balanced spoiler material....but they don't
and why keep asking me why I'm bitter?
ReplyDeleteYou know the answer, you get your spoilers each day while other fans are being alienated
You are literally getting teases about other characters right now! You are getting what you're asking for, slowly but surely! Do I think it's a little late in the game? Yes, but at least you're getting it! So I don't understand why you're wasting your energy on being bitter rather than being happy about the extra teases!
ReplyDeleteYou know what. It seems as though we've reached an impasse. So there really is no point in me responding anymore.
fantastic, don't be confused about the day you'll complain about the lack of Olicity spoilers while I'm asking you about being bitter
ReplyDeleteBy anger does stem more from an Olicity fan bashing the very character on the first spoiler relating to that character, it's like a downwards spiral. You guys expect me to shut up about my dislike but on the other hand expect me to accept you outright bashing instead of criticizinh
Ah!! The Arrow threads, where even a written dialog sneak peek generates heated arguments .
ReplyDelete*makes hasty retreat from Arrow tab of spoilertv*
Just be happy you're getting Laurel and Sara teasers.
ReplyDeleteEh, I really don't care about what the show spoils and what it teases. I'll be excited either way. Try not being bitter sometime, it really is better on the other side. Why let shippers and a show up your BP? there's no point in that.
ReplyDeleteI got a single Laurel/Sara teaser. Not a single Malcolm teaser
ReplyDeleteMeanwhile 100+ (not that many but I'm sure the number gets close) Felicity teasers.
That's the point...I actually like Felcity (although she IS flat) but the way she is depicted in spoilers is making me despise her. She was a quirky tech sidekick. Not a freaking ship monster.
So you like Felicity, but you also despise her?
ReplyDeleteTeach me master, being excited is great, You never got anything negative thrown your way in the spoilers it seems.
ReplyDeleteOh, there is a point, shippers invest their entire time in forcing the writers to bow down to them. So I at least can work against that retarded trend while designing.
It's actually quite a relief, you look at your work and get angry that you'll have to design for 3 more hourse and at least are happy that you get to reply to another post.
Look, I may have gotten too emotional over that situation, I apologize.
But try to look at this from my pov: there has been a Olicity related post every day now (even on sunday), constantly. They don't stop to rub this in my face.
I don't even associate Arrow with action anymore, all I can think is "Oh, yeah that show with Olicity".
It's sad how they promote this show and make season 3 look and I'm dissapointed.
I like Felicity but the way they make her look it appears like I`m going to despise her in probably 10 minutes into the episode
ReplyDeleteAs many of pointed out, it's the best way to spoil without spoiling. Even then these "spoilers" are about as spoiler-y as saying Thea is going to train with Malcolm.
ReplyDeleteEh it's your prerogative. Just stay clear of episode 5 then.
ReplyDeleteInteresting, Laurel's full name hasn't been used since Tommy said it in the premiere episode.
ReplyDeleteKnow what?
ReplyDeleteI give up
Felicity rules, Olicity wins
f****g shippers
Spoiler for Laurel and Sara and certain people are still whining about Felicity and Oliver. I never thought I'd see the day were anti shippers would become more annoying than the actual shippers. But it's happened. Only in the Arrow fandom. lol
ReplyDeleteI hope this isn't a bad omen for Sara.
ReplyDeleteAnyone who invokes her full name at the start of a season end up dead you mean?
ReplyDeleteI'm not a shipper, I merely pointed out that teasing Felicity things and Oliver stuff (though they've also teased Roy, Laurel, Sara, Ted Grant, the new Count and many other season 3 characters and stories) allows them to spoil yet not really give anything away.
ReplyDeleteYes! Tommy said that in the pilot and was dead by the season one finale. Poor Sara, crossing my fingers for her survival. :)
ReplyDeleteI am trying to look at it from your point of view and I still don't get it. :/ Sorry.
ReplyDeleteAnd if you don't associate the show with action anymore, then we most definitely watched a different season 2.
The only thing I can tell you is that shippers will do what they want to do and use their time however they please. If it makes them happy, then more power to them (as long as they're not bashing). It's your opinion that the shippers are ruining the show, it's my opinion that the writers/EPs are going by what feels natural when it comes to storytelling (although I must say, I sometimes question them especially when it came to Slade suddenly loving Shado and then the whole Oliver and Sara romance). I don't think that it's some big shipper conspiracy because I don't believe the shippers have that much power over the EPs.
I also understand that the promos/teases/tweets do not encompass everything that happens on the show which is why these don't bother me as much. Like @Graydon said, Olicity and Felicity is just a way for the show to tease something without having to spoil too much. As long as the show itself (and I don't count the promos/teases) is well written and flows well and is intriguing, then I'll be happy.
Honestly, I ask you this, just by watching season 2, did you think it was the Olicity show then? Don't let the marketing fool you. I'm only asking whether you think the content of the episodes merit you essentially calling the show the olicity show. If you're like me and don't think so, then I don't see the need to be worried.
Honestly, I don't understand why people put so much weight and importance in the marketing schemes these networks have.
I agree, season 2 had charming moments between them but no real romantic interaction,
ReplyDeletewhat makes it so much more confusing for me to see these marketing campaign. It looks like the writers are actively tearing their show down in favour of a ship
That being said I'll actually try to do it like you. Ignore the marketing the best I can. I'm sorry for the heated discussion but I just feel that a big chunk of the fandom isbeing neglected in favour of another
Like I've stated before many times and I'll state it again in caps because I feel like it's necessary (I'm not yelling): THE WRITERS/EPs HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH HOW THE SHOW IS MARKETED. It's all the network's doing. So I don't see how they're tearing down their show in favor of a ship with something they weren't even a part of.
ReplyDeleteLOL it's fine. I'm glad the argument ended amicably. But can I just mention one thing? Bashing shippers? It's not cool. Bashing anyone is not cool. Just don't do it. Because saying the shippers ruined the show is basically saying that I along with the other people who favor Olicity on this board are ruining the show and that's not cool at all.
The shippers have control over the show just as much as Eduardo Saverin has control over Facebook. Which is .03% Lol I just watched The Social Network so don't judge me. The shippers aren't holding a gun to the EPs heads making them write anything. In the end the EPs will do whatever they want. Just judge the show by its episodes and not the promos. Capisce?
Maybe they'll do me a huge solid and kill Laurel this time?
ReplyDeleteLord knows I still haven't forgiven them for killing Tommy, if they kill Sara for Laurel I'm going to be really ticked off.
Black Canary here we come!!!!! So excited for Laurel's story. Now I just need a Wildcat/Laurel pic
ReplyDeleteLooks like this season they are committed into progressing Laurel towards BC. Good. I am looking forward to Lance sister interaction.
ReplyDeleteI consider this as them getting back on track and moving Laurel towards BC. Looks like they have a plan.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I feel WB/EPs simply wants people to fight. They could easily release info and tidbits for the show without enraging a portion of the fandom.
ReplyDeleteI'm just going to repeat what I said elsewhere:
ReplyDelete"TV shows refuse to learn their lesson when it comes to "show, don't tell" the awesomeness of characters - especially women. And then they say that people who use the term "Mary Sue" are sexists. Sigh. You want me to believe Laurel is such an incredible, gold-hearted person? SHOW IT instead of having other characters wax poetic about how heroic she is."
Yeah, that's the scene.
ReplyDeleteI think this dialogue was put there because they are kind of rebooting Laurel this season. They are going back to pilot Laurel in a way. I really wish they had moved forward her journey to BC immediately after Tommy's death instead of alcoholism. *sigh* But if they do it correctly it can still work.
ReplyDeleteFinally some Laurel teases, nice callback to the Pilot, I wonder what Laurel is doing that makes Sara say that...
