As an Arrow fan I feel alienated, I'm seriously considering to stop watching simply for knowing all about this Olicity shit.
ReplyDeleteI'm tired of constantly getting shoved that retarded ship in my face, I'm done with annoying shippers getting bitter at me criticizing the focus that ship gets while they demand to not be called out on anything when bashing another character. I`m done with this freaking fandom probably only consisting of shippers. Good day.

I don't know why you deleted your last message where you basically said you're thinking of quitting watching arrow and you want the show to crash and burn because of its shippers... But my response is to your first response before you deleted it:
ReplyDeleteI will never understand why people would stop watching a show because of a ship that won't even be the spotlight of the season. But hey, if you're feeling marginalized and quit watching the show then that's your prerogative. I'm just saying you're going to miss a hell of a lot more than you've been teased.
And even though Greg Berlanti said that Arrow would never become a show that's focused on romance, people are still worrying? I just don't get it.
And if you truly do wish for Arrow to fail because of some marketing that doesn't even encompass 1/5 of what's to come, then you're definitely not a fan of the show.
Judge a show based on its content, not by its marketing schemes. You're basically judging a book by its cover and that's not fair at all. And calling out shippers like its their fault for being passionate about something on a show is equally unfair.

ReplyDeleteAs for saying that I want it to crash and burn, I do. I truly want it to crash, the writers to see that a bunch of retarded shippers can't make their show and they return to TELL A STORY instead of pandering to a group of either teenage girls or 50 year old moms.
Getting told by a shipper that I'm not a true fan is ironic seeing as shippers are working hard to tear this show into oblivion.
I get that you keep asking about my bitterness but hey, you sure as hell aren't bitter. So why shouldn't others be?
I don't know wether there is actually some part of your mindset that says "Yeah, there actually is a lot of Oicity stuff released, maybe he has a point in saying that they're pandering to me" but if you're the one being pandered to only hypocrisy works by asking why people are pissed.
I am pissed because by the freaking look of it this show is being turned into something I joked about last season: "Gossip Slade", a drama about Felicity and Oliver attempt to work out their complex romantic relationship while evil Slad Wilson is trying to break them up.
I obiously must be wrong with everything I'm saying but you asking me what there is to be bitter about while being FLOODED with information that assures me that something I like is being turned into a crappy soap opera for the benefit of YOUR fanbase feels like poking me with a stick.
This show is one of the three shows I actually watch live, your fandom is managing to ruin it for me before it even premiered.
I don't get HOW this turned out the way it did but this show is promoting itself with cards saying #Olicity, releases images of her new appartement, her new love interest, EVEYTHING is related to her.
We have actually gotten more spoilers about Felicity than the shows main character.
do you really want to tell me that I'm blowing this overexposure out of proportion? Fine, do so. But don't be confused when people get pissy at you talking down to them from your Olicity forged horse.
As much as I enjoyed this show what I'm being teased with is not just worrying me, it makes me sick to see the showrunnrs bend their butts towards the Olicity fandom to get effed

I was watching this, and i didn't even hear the Olicity comment, i wasn't paying attention to that, and I'M an Olicity shipper. I was mostly thinking yesss finally tomorrow. And listening to the actual featurette. I mean god, this chick's smile was too fake to pay attention to. She probably doesn't watch the show at all, just taking material from the buzz that had been released so far. She's not on the f*cking DVD, calm the hell down. and let it go. Anyone who watches season 2 can say there was a lot going on not just some growing relationship between Oliver and Felicity. And if you think otherwise them ,maybe you should spend less time hating them and pay more attention to the storyline as a whole. I swear the more i hear about the hate towards those two the more i feel that the anti's obsess more over about the ship than the actual shippers. Smh.

Be honest: what do we know about episode 1?
Olicity date, italian, felicity gets hurt, the new vertigo appears....that's...all I know about the episode. Do you really need an answer to why I think this ship ruined the show (on paper)

ReplyDeleteI literally feel like the anti-shippers anti-oliciters or whatever they like to call themselves are more obsessed with Olicity/Felicity than the shippers themselves. Even in the promo, I could see people whine about Olicity when they could've been cheering on for Thea/Malcolm at the end there or even talk about how Laurel was beating up that guy in the hospital or whatever... But nope, everything's about Olicity. not that I mind :p

You don't like Olicity fine, you don't like the marketing I don't blame you it's weird, but you can't say we've only got spoilers about Olicity or Felicity, because well that's not true. But honestly this show is not The Vampire Diaries, it'll never be about Olicity like TVD is with Delena.
ReplyDeleteThe reason it is significant is that this girl works for DC Comics which should care more about the fans who buy their comics and not just a segment of those who watch Arrow and possibly buy the comics.
ReplyDeleteSara comes back, Laurel and Sara has an important conversation on the roof which sets forth Laurel's whole journey in season 3. The premiere starts with a fight sequence where Diggle, Roy and Oliver kicks ass. They have a list of crime bosses in starling city which they are taking care one at a time. Lance is now captain and he calls of vigilante task force. Laurel and Oliver has a new partnership where Oliver catches criminals and Laurel puts them away. Oliver will try to keep Diggle away from Arrow business because of his impending fatherhood. Roy is fully a part of team Arrow and he is going to have a relationship with Felicity which is full of banter. Ray Palmer comes and snatches QC out of Oliver's hand.

I get where you are coming from and I am not saying the Arrow marketing is in any way stellar. It is annoying. But to wish the show to fail due to marketing by WB and CW is not right too. I am not defending their marketing strategy. But as I said before the 4 dialogue prompts of Felicity, Felicity's apartment and even this DC all access video is released on twitter. Twitter is majorly filled with Olicity shippers. They are the ones who actually comments most on the tweets regarding Arrow. So twitter promotion is mostly targeted to this group. Where as if you notice TV guide, TV line, EW or greenarrow tv there are spoilers for all the fandom. The high speed chase promo that was released featured all the characters on the show.
ReplyDeleteI really liked when spoiler tv did not post every teeny tiny tweet and only used to post important spoilers. During season 2 also Marc Guggenheim used to tweet Felicity dialogues for shippers in between episodes. But most of those were not posted here and we had promos and sneek peaks to concentrate on. I truly think we shouldn't give much impotance to twitter and tumblr promotion methods. Lastly don't give up on Arrow because of some promotion. Lets give them chance to ruin it for us first.

There's still all the stuff about Malcolm/Thea, all the new villains who are coming on board, Ray's backstory/characterization, this mystery the Guggenheim was talking about that will be answered in 309, Diggle and H.I.V.E, Ra's Al Ghul possibly coming to Starling, Sara flashbacks to the LoA (second episode I think?), the huge Flash/Arrow crossover that will most probably have extremely little to do with Felicity/Olicity, Ted Grant training Laurel and possibly having a romance with her, Oliver's flashbacks to Hong Kong, then there's that weird episode with Cupid...

I was only talking about episode 1. BTW Sara's flashbacks to LoA is not shot yet I believe. MG said they have plans never confirmed it was episode 2. Episode 2 is international mercenary Komodo who Sara is here to catch and who has a connection to Ra's Al Ghul.

It isn't Olicity itself I have a problem with, really, t's the fact that I literally can't watch/read/talk Arrow anywhere on the internet without an avalanche of Olicity this and Olicity that falling on my head. It's become a monster that's swallowing the whole show. There was zero reason to address "Olicity fans" rather than "ARROW fans" in the beginning of that featurette.
ReplyDeleteI realize that promotion often doesn't reflect the actual content of the show. I know Olicity will only be one storyline of many next season and (hopefully) won't get a disproporionate amoung of screen time that makes it overshadow the others. But I just can't put it up with not being able to turn around withot bumping into something Olicity-related. It's like the only way to escape it is to literally quit anything Arrow on the internet except the episodes themselves.
They could ruin it for us you know. Its possible. During the season 2 hiatus after mid season finale I was so excited seeing the wonderful promo they put together showing SS and great action sequences. But latter half of season 2 did not rise up to expectations at all. So a great promo does not mean Arrow season 3 will be awesome. We all have to wait and see.

ReplyDeleteMhmm. i'm getting a headache. The season hasn't even started yet, and it's getting to me, which is saying a lot b/c i'm very patient, and i've been ignoring a lot of it when it comes to my ship. But now my patience is running thin.
ReplyDeleteAll i know is Oct 8th needs to get here a little bit quicker, so the entire fandom can STFU and be happy! I think that's what it really is. I mean it's been 5 months, we're all getting really testy now. TPTB, can put out all the promos, and teasers, and comics they want, but at the end of the day it's the show that counts. And we all need our fix, for w/e character(s) in the show. Some NEW material.
Well unfortunately she didn't care. I stand by what i said, and idt that less than 2 second remark should take over the entire purpose of the video. However, I agree that what she said was completely uneccessary and just downright strange.
