  1. We are making a TV show not writing a comic book - PB.... Amen.

Caity Lotz was told she was not CW material. Why do I find that offensive. Despite that I am glad the EPs took a chance with her. Look at the audience response.

Loved Katrina Law's audition story. She is so much fun.

  2. I take that as a compliment. To me Caity is more of a cable or film actor. She's not restricted to the CW. I think what they are saying is she doesn't play romantic or melodramatic well or whatever is typical with a CW character. She's not like Cassidy or Rickards.

  3. I actually tought Rickards was an odd choice for The CW... I always tought of her as a Big Bang Theory kind of actress(idk if that has any sense...).

If you look at Katie Cassidy, Blake Lively, etc, they are this super model type of girl that are over-dramatic while acting. Rickards, on the other hand, is more of a normal girl, with a pretty good comedy timing, seems more grounded, her beauty is not only physical but she akwardly cute... Like Lotz.

    Hope that makes sense Jajajaja

  5. Can't watch the whole thing! Loved the audition stories!
I think that CW material comment was taken out of context and just a comment but who knows. I think CW material is taken out of context. The model type etc is a cliche, all networks look for "good" looking actors, depending on the show and everything and the character. CW is just overstepping it a bit.

  6. agreed that's the difference ^^. BTW ironic is the fact that the girls that aren't CW's type are the most favorites characters on the show now.

  7. PB CL and KL are just precious gifts bestowed upon us. I love how PB essentially said that they're not writing a comic book, they're writing a show (which thereby vetoes all "but comics!" comments). He shows that he really understands the show and cares about it. I love how level headed he is!

And I'm so glad CW gave her a chance. I want to see CW break out of its mold a bit because it'll only just increase viewership. If they want to change their image what better way than to cast normal looking people?

Also, I always thought of Cassidy as the typical CW lead. She's gorgeous and tall, stick thin, belongs in magazines. However the rest (KL, CL, EBR) don't fall under that category. They're gorgeous but in a less generic way.

  9. Loved the video, so glad the EPs took a chance on CL. I love Sara and think CL does a good job (generally), she struggles with the heavily dramatic aspects and has had a couple of bad line delivers but does really well with the action, the wounded/fragile aspects of the character and I love how she almost takes on a different physical appearance/attitude when she's Canary.

PB is awesome as well but I've thought that for awhile. The more I see of KL at Cons the more I want Nyssa on Arrow. I never liked Mira on Spartacus but I loved KL as Nyssa.

  10. Well, maybe that's why The CW's reputation is horrible. Cassidy, for example, is a more decent actress that it seems: They should let her be more sarcastic and bitchy, more natural.

The CW MUST give you the "bad teenage drama" and stick to it... If Arrow dropped the Oliver/Laurel angst and let them develope outside that(Mainly for Laurel, since the character of Oliver have moved on to Felicity as it's main love interest).

This year they seemed to give up on Oliver/Laurel in a romantic way. Teens love drama and that's why they support such disfuncional couple(Like Chuck and Blair on Gossip Girl. a couple awefully written and incredible toxic, even surreal... but kids dig on that).

One thing whyOlicity is great, is 'cause it was born organically and based on the two actor's chemistry(The Jeff/Annie/Britta triangle on Community is another case, and Harmon was smart to dropped it. He even made the Jeff/Britta thing to come back on the Season 5 Finale just to show how stupid it was).

Another example: The episode in wich Moira's lawyer wanted Thea to break up with Roy. That side story was stupid and came to be just 'cause they needed the teen angst drama.

Arrow needs to stop trying to be a CW show and The CW needs to stop trying to be The CW.

This year it seems Arrow is doing all good choices: Laurel growing outside of Oliver(and it seems that they will keep them as friends, a form that works out great). they are giving Thea something to do, they are finally making Felicity a 3-Dimensional character(backstory and a relationship outside of Oliver, before getting together), Diggle and the fatherhood will be very interesting and, of course, a more happy Oliver... An outstanding villain helps a LOT.

    Exactly.

  13. CW does take the model type to an extreme. Can you imagine Tatiana Maslanay as a leading lady in a CW show. At least with their record till now?

  14. Oh it is definitely a compliment. CL is not the best actor out there but she is great as canary. I disagree she played romance very well with SA and she can do vulnerable brilliantly. I just want to give her a hug whenever she is about to cry. If only the romance between Oliver and Sara were treated with a little bit more and build up respect people would have rallied behind them. I would take CL's vulnerable scenes over KC's melodramatic any day.

Its some of the drama scenes and voice modulation during some dialogues that is wrong with CL. EBR does not look like a typical CW lead actress. She sure is gorgeous but has a girl next door vibe which is not the case with Katie Cassidy, Blake Lively or Nina Dobrev. Those girls can't look ordinary even if they tried. I still need to see her in roles other than Felicity to judge her as an actor. She is wonderful as Felicity though.
