  1. great picture, ward will be back with the team and finally fitzsimmons and skye looks completely beautiful but i really hope she doesn't lose her humor, they've been talikng about her going a little more dark which i'm fine but i don't want her to lose that quality that made her so endearing , hate hunter and mackenzie and i don't want to hate trpplett but i don't want him to replace ward or fitz

  2. jemma has to have feelings for leo right? god i hope so

  3. Judging from this photo, it appears they want us to keep wondering about that. Weeks back there was a concept art photo promoting the new seasons of SHIELD and Agent Carter, which looked like Fitz and Simmons were copied from one of the season one publicity photos right down to the clothes and body language except that instead of him looking at her, they were looking at each other. But if this one is any indication, she may stay undecided for a while. I'm not happy about it either.

BTW, is it just me or is the male/female ratio of this cast starting to skew heavily to one side?

  4. By the deleted scenes from season 1 it seems like Fitz has had feelings for her since the beginning and Simmons has had feelings for him but seems to have ignored them.

  5. FitzSimmons .. SkyeWard

  6. yeah i saw that deleted scene and it surprised me that he had feelings for her long before they joined Director coulson's team

  7. Well hello to the hunks in the back.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Wtf that guy in the back looks like the rock... Anyways, I like it.

  9. No! There are certain rules you must follow! FitzSimmons are supposed to stand near each other in promo photos.

  10. I'm not a fan of how they want to make Skye look like May, but I'm so happy Fitz is there, I don't even care, lol.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Close up it almost looks like Fitz is translucent.

    ReplyDelete
  12. My pet theory is that she was interested in him but he was so oblivious, despite liking her, that she kind of moved on.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I don't think they're trying to make Skye look like her so much as they are trying to make her look like an Agent. And at least they aren't wearing the Standard Issue Body Suits that we see in the movies.

  14. The impression I got from the deleted scenes was that she was interested in him initially, but he was too shy to approach or talk to her, which she mistook for him disliking her, and decided that friendship was as far as they would go.

  15. Was that deleted scene released? I don't have the BluRay yet.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I agree with both of you. She did like him but chose to not follow through because she thought he didn't return the feelings. What a mess miscommunication can cause lol

  17. I'm loving the whole Fitz and Ward both being kind of in the background hidden in the dark or a corner. I think even though they are completely different characters they will go through similar identity issues this season and parallel each other. As much as Ward is an awful person for what he did and hated by the team understandably so I think him and Fitz will both under go interesting personal challenges this season. Fitz is well brain damaged from the sounds of it and will have to redefine himself based off of something other then his brains for his change. Seeing as he's always been the quirky, super smart genius guy his whole life. And ward is lost and alone too in a way, quite literally, in a prison. He has been manipulated a good portion of his life, betrayed the only family and friends he seemed to have last season and now he's lost and in the dark to decide who he is anymore. Whose side is on if anybody side at all? (assuming he could even be accepted again).

    ReplyDelete
  18. You're probably right, is just the impression I get. But I agree on the body suits topic.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Awww, Fitz looks so lonely by himself :( I just want to give him a huge hug.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I wish those scenes hadn't been cut because they really cast the FitzSimmons dynamic in a new light. It's ironic because they're so totally in synch in every other way, but when it comes to anything romantic, it seems like their relationship has been one long series of miscommunications. I'd wager that, "You're more than that, Jemma," was the first time in all the years they'd known each other that one of them was being 100% honest with the other about how they feel.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Someone give Fitz a hug please.

  22. I find it interesting that there's a bit of distance between Gemma and the rest of the team. There's almost the same amount of distance between her and Coulson and her and Ward...maybe a little less between her and Ward. And I might be out of the loop, but any deets on the new guys?

    ReplyDelete
  23. The other guy is a mechanic named Alphonso "Mac" (heh) MacKenzie, played by Henry Simmons. He's another new recruit, and like Trip, only on recurring status. (Cue someone raging about how the show is racist because the white Lance Hunter was promoted to main cast while the characters of color weren't.)

    ReplyDelete
  24. "hate hunter and mackenzie" - you haven't seen one second of screentime with either of these guys yet.

    ReplyDelete
  25. The new guys: the one on the left is Lance Hunter, a mercenary, played by Nick Blood. The one on the right is a mechanic named Alphonso "Mac" MacKenzie, played by Henry Simmons. Both are recruits to the new SHIELD. Hunter has been added to the main cast and he's the type of guy who's in it for the money, not the cause, so Coulson and co. aren't sure if they can trust him. We don't really know anything about Mac yet.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Pretty cool, and everyone looks great. But I'm not sure what the concept of the photo is. If it's just the main cast, Trip and MacKenzie shouldn't be there. If it's the entire new SHIELD, then Isabelle Hartley and possibly others should also be there.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I had to leave another forum because I got tired of explaining that the showrunners are not racist, BJ Britt is a regular on another show, and he would absolutely be a regular on SHIELD if it was possible.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I keep seeing people worry that Skye looks like May 2.0, and I don't see it. I assume she's wearing a SHIELD uniform because she'll be needed on field missions more often this season. Coulson no longer has whole teams as his backup when needed; May, Trip and a possily untrustworthy Hunter is all he's got as far as muscle goes. It makes sense that Skye would be required to get in on the physical action, and it's not like there can only be one female character who does that.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Also, if people want to complain about diversity, Marvel's film division seems like a much more apt target to me. When was the last time the MCU had a female-led film? Oh that's right, never. Every movie has the one requisite hot chick/love interest and maybe one more female. Four of the five male Avengers have gotten their own films (even if you don't count Ang Lee's Hulk which isn't part of the MCU), yet with Black Widow, all we get is Marvel endlessly dancing around the issue. Characters like Maria Hill, Agent 13 or Lady Sif get blink-and-you'll-miss-it cameos in the films. Agents of SHIELD had a gender-equal team at least in S1, and other important female characters.
In terms of race, it's not much better. You have Fury, sure, but none of the main heroes are of color. Again, you get supporting players (and not many of them) - Falcon, Rhodey, etc. At least SHIELD has May, and Trip could well join the regular cast as soon as BJ is available for that.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ugh I keep seeing similar things, I don't think people get how TV works, Trip could well be a regular in all but name this season (as in appear in pretty much every episode but for contract reasons is still a guest star/reoccurring)

I remember people getting pissed at Coulson being the new Director and not Hill but again its down to actor availability and how Cobie has moved back to NY and now SHIELD is a small organisation we need to see the Director all the time, unlike when it was huge and Fury just popped up when needed.

Its like I saw a rumor about Sharon Carter joining the show full time and I'm like has everyone forgotten Emily is a lead on her own show! We may get a guest appearance in the future but she is very busy with Revenge.

I'm sure people will be screaming that the show is sexiest if they don't make Lucy Lawless character a regular but I'm pretty sure I read in real life she spends most of her time in NZ.

    End of rant!

    ReplyDelete
  31. I think Trip and Mac are probably more reoccurring than Isabelle and others are going to be. Or maybe it was 'hey who is on set today let them join in!'

  32. The thing is that even having more or less well written secondary female characters in a Superhero movie is already a step forward from the characters like Mary Jane or Louis Lane (not to mention the terrible attempts to make a female lead Superhero movie - the Catwoman movie is infamous for a reason)...just the fact that Black Widow went through no less than three movies without being reduced to the love interest of a main character is a cause for celebration (which really shows how bad female characters have been treated in this kind of movies).
Naturally Marvel could up the ante by doing a proper Black Widow movie and adding more female characters instead of defaulting to the smurfette principle.

  33. Have you noticed May is looking at Skye in the shot - I think that's meant to symbolise that May will take her under her wing.

    ReplyDelete
  34. I dislike group cast promotional photos that include non regulars, it irks me a lot.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Sadly, I guess you're right. Let's hope things get better with future Marvel projects.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Luke Cage is coming. But for his own limited series, and The Defenders miniseries.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I completely agree, that MCU is not very diverse with main characters. I also agree, they need to do a better job. I suspect part the reason, is comic canon. When they did The Avengers, they tried to stay somewhat close to canon, as far as the characters. Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, and Hulk are the founding members of The Avengers, and the most popular Avengers. So if they didn't start with them, they may not of been as big a hit. Sadly the most popular comic book superheroes, are white males.

But now that they have established the universe, and a following; hopefully they will take advantage of more diverse characters. I believe that Marvel has a vague 30 year plan. I didn't see Fury, Falcon and Black Widow as "supporting" characters in The Winter Soldier, anymore than Thor, Hawkeye, Black Widow, and Bruce Banner/ Hulk were in The Avengers. They were the star, but were major characters.

Personally i've never thought, that Black Widow fit with the Avengers. She should be in spy thrillers. She was perfect for Winter Soldier, and i'd like to see them expand on that. There's a history between those two.

Of all of the female Avengers, Scarlet Witch would be a great choice, for a solo film. Possibly multiple films, if they go with the Wonder Man and Vision storylines. Ms Marvel/ Captain Marvel is another great choice. Her story could carry a trilogy easily. And probably, the most asked for Marvel female character, to be in the films.

Lady Sif is an already character, but she is best as a supporting character. Valkyrie on the other hand, is the female version of Thor. The 5th member of the original Defenders, and last i heard, the leader of the current form of the team. Powerful with her own back story, not completely wrapped up with Thor's story.

  38. Love the cast photo, it made my day (and a very nice birthday present for me).

  39. I assumed May would take over Skye's training after she offered last season in the hotel room, which is where my fear comes from. I like both characters, but I like that they are so diferent, and even though it was fun when Skye impersonated May I don't want her to turn into a younger May.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yay Wards in it. By the wall alone but still there lol.
    Fitz why you so far..

    ReplyDelete
  41. Much thanks for the info!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Off topic, I really do wish EVC would stop by as Agent 13, that would be so cool. She's already a beloved ABC alum after all. As you said, the most we can hope for right now is a one-time guest spot, but maybe if this is the final season of Revenge she can do more next year.

    ReplyDelete
  43. These are all good points. I guess I can't blame them for wanting to make money, and the most secure investment is in the most notorious characters who are white men. The problem is that it creates a vicious circle: without more films that feature women and minorities in main roles, it can't be proven that they CAN carry a film to success, so companies continue not to take the risk.

As you say, now that Marvel's whole universe is a proven success, hopefully we'll see films with the likes of Black Widow, Ms. Marvel and Black Panther as leads.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Oh i forgot about Black Panther. I found this on Wikipedia, it's promising.

"In February 2014 Feige stated that after exploring Black Widow's past in Avengers: Age of Ultron, he would like to see it explored further in a solo film. Marvel has done some development work for the potential film, including a "pretty in depth" treatment by Perlman. "

"Marvel has hired screenwriters for a number of other properties. Andrew W. Marlowe was hired to write a script for Nick Fury in April 2006, and documentary filmmaker Mark Bailey was hired to write a script for Black Panther in January 2011."

"In May 2013, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Marvel had working scripts for Blade and Ms. Marvel."

I knew about Black Panther. I also knew that a new Blade film could be in the works. But i didn't know about Nick Fury nor Ms Marvel.

  45. skye doesn't look like she has an ICER and it scares me, i like jemma's new hairstyle, i don't think skye's family is kree because when i saw Guardians they didn't show anything that showed that they can shift into a human form

    ReplyDelete
  46. I hate that they gave Skye bangs. She looks like a mini May, like she's lost everything that makes Skye, Skye.

    ReplyDelete
  47. It has to be said Skye looks horrible.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I did a close up on the picture and it definately is an icer, you can tell by the five blue lines that all the icers have at the top. :)

    ReplyDelete
  49. Okay, can someone explain this "Skye with bangs = mini-May" equation to me once and for all? Because looking at this picture, it's quite evident that May does NOT have bangs.

    ReplyDelete
  50. A lot of people have been waiting for this. Good to see the ensemble in its entirety. I'm guessing Ward will only make the occasional appearance, at least in the first half of the season.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Agreed. I never liked that haircut even on myself, and I can't wait until the ombre fad is over.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I didn't mean the bangs make Skye look like May I meant; I hate the bangs and Skye looks like May because she's practically dressed like her. When in season 1 would Skye have ever worn that outfit?

But now that you mention it I guess she does sort of look like May with the new hairstyle. If you close one eye and squint the other.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Well, my take on it is that Skye is in a SHIELD uniform because she's going to go on field missions more often this season because of how small the organization is. I made comments about it above so I don't want to repeat myself.
