Skye's daddy issues
How amazing was it to see how badass newly-promoted Agent Skye has gotten? Bennet said she couldn't be happier to see how mature her onscreen counterpart is this season.
"It's really just the bangs," Bennet joked. "It's really weird to see the pilot and then 201 since Skye is just completely different. She's gone from this hippie living in her van going up against S.H.I.E.L.D. and everything it stands for and now she's a full-blown S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, dropping from the ceiling in the beginning of the episode. And I feel like I've grown with Skye."
But season two won't be an easy ride for Skye, since her mysterious biological father (played by Kyle MacLachlan) is about to be introduced.
"I can't tell you anything!" Bennet said with a laugh when we asked about Skye's father. "Kyle's great. I've met him. And that's about it! Honestly, I don't even know anything about it either!"
S.H.I.E.L.D. showrunner Maurissa Tancharoen was able to elaborate a bit more...but only a bit.
"Coulson is essentially Skye's father so it will be interesting to see what happens when her actual father comes into play," Tancharoen teased.

Marvel.com: Last season ended with some pretty big turns in Fitz and Simmons’ relationship. Going into the second year, how has that relationship changed?
Elizabeth Henstridge: I think that stuff has definitely changed between them. It kind of had to, because as soon as he confessed his love--and more importantly, when she didn’t confess it back--then it’s hard to come back from that. In a way, they’ve both got to figure out what they mean to each other, and she needs to figure out her feelings too. I don’t think that she saw that coming, and he’d obviously been building up to it. It was his moment, and then it wasn’t requited. So the dynamic’s going to change, and I think we’re going to see how Simmons identifies herself just as Simmons, not as FitzSimmons, and what kind of trouble that brings.
It’s a rebuilding for her within S.H.I.E.L.D. and what her role is. She put her life on the line before, but they were risking their lives every week for the belief in their team and the belief that they were doing something right and just. Whereas now, they’ve been betrayed so badly by a member of their team that she has to decide if she wants to stay and help rebuild S.H.I.E.L.D. or if she’s kind of done. S.H.I.E.L.D. was a great concept, but in the end it wasn’t possible in this world that we live in now. She has a lot of growing and decisions to make.

Yes, Coulson and May are 100% Skye's parents in every way that matters. And hopefully they'll be there for her when her biological father enters the picture. And please don't let Ward escape prison and became a vigilante. I didn't like that idea all summer when people kept suggesting it and I hate it even more now. That's the last thing he needs.
ReplyDeleteI knew people were jumping the gun when they got upset about the fact real Jemma wasn't in last night's episode. Jemma has to become Simmons and not be FitzSimmons. Putting herself first is a good idea and I think we're going to see that.
I wonder what Kyle's name on the show will be or if he's just nameless with a title?
ReplyDeleteSeeing FitzSimmons not together is going to be bizarre watching it on screen but I'm intrigued to see how they will develop as separate individuals without having the other for support.
ReplyDeleteIs Simmons coming back?
ReplyDeleteMaybe just nameless with a title for the time being?
ReplyDeleteby vigilante do you evil or good vigilante, but yeah i love that they keep saying that coulson is basically skye's father, because in the premiere it certainly didn't feel that way honestly, he essentially used her and i don't like that
ReplyDeleteGood vigilante (like taking out Hydra cells).
