Marvel.com: Going into this new season, it’s obvious Trip stuck around with Coulson and his team. What do you think it was that made it want to be a part of him and a part of rebuilding S.H.I.E.L.D. under Coulson?
BJ Britt: Trip’s a really good guy, but Trip likes to make sure everything is in order and he likes to make sure that everything is going smoothly. Last season, when they found out Garrett was Hydra, a lot of people thought that Trip maybe could have been Hydra as well. The fact that he’s sticking around and he’s proven himself to be a worthy advocate for S.H.I.E.L.D., the people and the fans are loving that aspect of him. He’s going make sure that stuff doesn’t go wrong. He’s one of the good guys. Trip has that charm as well, which is one of those things that I liked that the writers brought to his character. He has a sense of humor and a charm about him. Something that’s likeable about him, you know? You can see that in certain scenes where he flashes that smile, but if something goes wrong, hey, all right, I can kick your butt and go.
Marvel.com: Last season we saw a little bit of flirtation between Trip and Simmons. As a fan, would you want to see those two characters get together at some point?
BJ Britt: As a fan, I would love to see that happen. Elizabeth is a sweetheart, everybody in the show is just so awesome. But the thing is [the writers] never let you know what’s going to happen until you show up for the read through for the next episode. So you’re like, “Are they going to elaborate on this?” It’s so funny between the characters, especially with the fanbase, because some people are like, “TripSimmons, we love that!” And then other people are like, “Hell no! FitzSimmons. We want FitzSimmons! Forget Trip! I love Trip but it’s FitzSimmons, not TripSimmons.” It’s going to be interesting how it plays out in the second season. It’ll definitely be interesting.
