Four-time Oscar nominee Ed Harris has landed a pivotal role in the premium cable network's adaptation of the sci-fi hit, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Inspired by Michael Crichton's 1973 feature film, the drama is billed as a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin.
Harris (The Hours, Pollock, The Truman Show, Apollo 13) will star as The Man in Black, described as the distillation of pure villainy into one man.

I wasn't expecting him but the more i think about him in this roll the more excited i'm getting. He'll make one great villian!

ReplyDeleteI would also have, wouldn't been for that fact that Jonathan Nolan (Person of Interest) is behind this. Look what the guy did with Person of Interest after season 1. It`s the best sci-fi show right now, and it`s made for primetime CBS for god sake. It`s really a fascinating show and thought provoking. It`s perfect work for him, with HBO that has such a few limits. I really like the original movie, and look forward to seeing if the show gets picked up what he and the others can do with a modern Westworld with a awsome cast they have gathered so far.
ReplyDeleteYa it looks like they split Yul Brenner's role in half....It looks like Harlen Bell (Rodrigo Santoro) will be the initially bad android cowboy and The Man in Black (Ed Harris) will be a guy who "abuses" the androids, but I also suspect, given some of the other character descriptions (like the creator of the androids and the female blonde outlaw armistice character), that there may be more than on reason and more than one person/android behind a series of disturbing events...It almost seems like it will be built on catalysts....

ReplyDeleteOh no, don't stop speculating! More often than not your right,i can see them eventually going into the real world,especially since its a series. Have they announced how many episodes they will have?
ReplyDeleteNothing solid yet. I feel good thought and think they'll pick it up once the Pilot's made. With this cast and their actual pilot commitment, I can't imagine them just scrapping it! HBO's shows mostly have 10-12 episodes per season with a few exceptions so it probably will be around that. :)
