People think no Gibbs,no show but that is just silly. It goes to DiNozzo he is more than qualified for the position considering he was offered that position once and the position in Spain. Now its a different ball of wax if the all decide to end the series, but it wouldn't end just because Gibbs decides to leave .
It's worked with a female working over Gibbs in the past and could again... just with a more hands on role. But I don't think that the show would survive w/o Gibbs... I know I don't see myself watching it.
Regardless of him being offered the position, DiNozzo leading the team would not keep the fans IMO. Even the results here are split almost 50/50 on the show ending or DiNozzo leading.... if they lost half the audience of the show I don't see it getting renewed.
whenever a 'new; person takes over there will always be a drop in viewers, that's a given. But DiNozzo is qualified to fill his shoes, the same way Gibbs filled Mike Franks shoes.
Over recent years Tony has taken a back seat and lost a lot of his previous heroic qualities. The writers would need to seriously up his profile again returning him to the thoughtful flawed hero, the competent agent of old that I for one originally fell in love with before Gibbs left if the series had any hope of continuing. Bringing in a new agent to take over from Gibbs would be a huge mistake.
Regardless of what fictional storyline they came up with to justify DiNozzo (or anyone else for that matter) taking over from Gibbs I don't think enough people would watch it without Mark Harmon for the network to keep it... if Mark Harmon quit then I reckon the network would drop the show like a hot potato *UNLESS* they brought in someone else way more popular than Michael Weatherly.
Tony, if any of the current characters. He's probably a large part of why the show is so successful. It's always good to have one of those characters keeping things interesting.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
No Gibbs = no NCIS
ReplyDeleteI agree, without Gibbs the show is over.
ReplyDeleteBut I also voted for Abigail Borin because I'd like to have a female character as the boss.

ReplyDeleteGibbs shouldn't leave! But if someday he does, either Tony or Fornell should take over.
ReplyDeleteI only voted for one option..Gibbs leaves so do I, show would be over for me.
ReplyDeleteNo Gibbs, the show is over. But if the show goes on, then Tony should be in charge.
ReplyDeleteTony. He's the next in charge and has been there the longest
ReplyDeleteNo Gibbs, no NCIS for me.

ReplyDeleteThe show would definitely be over if Gibbs ever decided to leave NCIS.
ReplyDeleteNCIS without Gibbs is like sacrilege, in my opinion.
Fornell is just as "senior" Special Agent as GIbbs (i.e both equally close to retirement), and besides which, Fornell is FBI.
