ReplyDeleteKate Beckett - Castle
Buffy.
ReplyDeleteOn the list Buffy. Others include Sarah Jane Smith (Doctor Who, SJA), Rebecca Bowman (Banshee), Amy Dyer (In the Flesh), Gemma (Sons of Anarchy), Arya Stark (GoT) & Sofie (Carnivale) of the top of my head.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite female character of all time is Abby Lockhart from ER

Right there with you on the love to hate Cersei, more so in the show than the books though I think. Lena Headey is perfect in the role!
ReplyDeleteBrooke Davis! She is such a strong, loving and always evolving character. I love her.
ReplyDeleteShe's a fierce one isn't she, I hope she becomes Queen of the North in the end. If Martin kills her off I will be sooooo mad!! lol
ReplyDeleteOlivia - fringe
ReplyDeleteSarah from Chuck
ReplyDeleteOlivia Dunham - Fringe ... and Sydney Bristow - Alias. Now that's a duo!
ReplyDeleteMy top 3 on TV right now;
ReplyDeleteAmanda Rollins L&O SVU
Amantha Holden Rectify
Donna Paulsen Suits
From previous shows - Mary Shannon In Plain Sight, Ms Parker Pretender, Abby Lockhart ER, Annie Frost Chase, Charlotte King Private Practice
Nikita and Buffy, but Veronica and Sydney are very very VERY close behind.
ReplyDeleteThat being said, "female characters" is such a broad definition that I could be here for hours naming various favorites... Katherine Pierce, Caroline Forbes, Alex(andra) Udinov, Amanda Collins, Patty Hewes, Ellen Parsons, Melinda May, Juliet Burke, Faith Lehane, Willow Rosenberg, Cordelia Chase, Emily Thorne, Victoria Grayson, Irina Derevko, Moira Queen, Jo and Ellen Harvelle, etc... although a few of these characters got much less likable during later seasons of their shows.
My number 1 would be Kate Beckett. Fierce and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteFrom the list - Olivia (Fringe). Current favourites that aren't on the list: Sameen Shaw (POI), Regina Mills (OUAT), and Melinda May (MAOS).
ReplyDeleteStarbuck and Buffy.
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm seeing some Starbuck appreciation arround here xD
Buffy was my first choice, Sydney Bristow was the second one. Too bad I could only vote for two people because Olivia from Fringe would have had my vote too. And now that I think about it I probably would chosen Veronica Mars too lol!
ReplyDeleteOther : Willow (Buffy), Rebekah (TVD/TO), Vanessa Ives (Penny Dreadful), Phoebe Halliwell (Charmed), Pam (True Blood), Allison Dubois (Medium), just to name a few...
Yep Katherine Pierce and Caroline Forbes should have made it to the list! Actually almost all the ones you mentionned (I don't know some of them) ;) !
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Nikita, they are very strong characters.
ReplyDeleteOlivia Pope, for sure!
ReplyDeleteOlivia and Buffy, with Sydney Bristow very close as well.
ReplyDeleteBuffy and other Cat from BATB
ReplyDeleteVeronica Mars and Jo Harvelle (Supernatural)
ReplyDeleteBuffy and Alicia on the list, Leslie Knope off the list.
ReplyDeleteThere's so many choices out there now like Sarah/Felicity from Arrow, Emma in Red Band Society seems like quite a laugh too but yeah on top of them there's others like Arya Stark - GoT, Hetty Lange - NCIS LA, Skye - AoS, Paige - Graceland, Shaw - PoI, Lois - Smallville, Kira/Malia/Lydia - Teen Wolf so it's really impossible to stick with a couple of choices.
ReplyDeletewillow rosenberg - btvs
ReplyDeleteZiva David / NCIS
ReplyDeleteHeady is so badass, I love her look even when she isn't Cersei, with her short hair and tattooed back.
ReplyDeleteI miss Jo and I'm sure Dean does too.
ReplyDeleteWhite hat back on!
ReplyDeleteOn the list: Nikita Mears
ReplyDeleteNot on the list: Emily Prentiss, Ziva David, Fiona Glenanne
Audrey Parek from Haven and Evil Queen from OUaT :)
ReplyDeleteEmma Swan (Once Upon A Time) Kate Austen & Juliet Burke (Lost)
ReplyDeleteLeslie Knope!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of female roles now and I know I'm missing a lot of them. I wanted to see just how many. So far, A LOT. There are some great characters being listed.
ReplyDeleteOlivia Dunham and Emily Thorne comes first, but actually I love most of the women listed and a few more (like Leslie Knope, for example)
ReplyDeleteOlivia, from Fringe and other The unstoppable Kate Beckett!
ReplyDeleteLagertha love! Thanks.
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of female roles now and I know I'm missing a lot of them. I wanted to see just how many. So far, A LOT. There are some great characters being listed.
ReplyDeleteI didn't want to clutter up the choices but I have so many favorites. I wanted to see all of yours too. Veronica, Buffy, Tami, Alicia, Brooke, Carol (TWD), Ava (Justified) Kensi, Prentiss, Olivia. I could just keep going. I love the great characters being listed.
ReplyDeleteLeslie Knope, Selina Meyers, Ann Perkins, April Ludgate, Pam Halpert, Tami Taylor, Chloe O'Brien, just to name a few.
ReplyDeleteShe'll probably live for a long time, hopefully. But no way of that happening. Not only because the North is a very different place and it takes a lot more to be able to rule it. But also there are at least 3 people ahead of her, and it's quite difficult for a woman to actually rule in that kind of medieval society. There's never been a Queen in Westeros. Not sure about before the war of conquest and each Kingdom respectively. Maybe in Dorne.
ReplyDeleteFrom that list only Veronica Mars would make any top list of mine..
ReplyDeleteI'd add:
Saga Noren - Bron/ Broen (the Bridge)
Sara Lund - Forbrydelsen (The Killing)
Gemma Teller - Sons of Anarchy
Carrie Mathison - Homeland
Alice Morgan - Luther
Sarah Manning - Orphan Black
My personal favourites are Laura Roslin, Diane Lockhart, Dana Scully, Samantha Carter and Olivia Dunham. I also associate so strongly with Liz Lemon, it scares me sometimes.
ReplyDeleteSnow and Regina from Once Upon A Time
ReplyDeleteHaley James Scott from One Tree Hill
Veronica Mars from Veronica Mars
Kate Beckett from Castle
Lydia from Teen Wolf
Spencer from Pretty Little Liars
Lena from The Fosters
Brenda from Beverly Hills 90210
Willow from Buffy
Angela from Bones

ReplyDeleteOlivia and Nikki <3
ReplyDeleteEmily (FREAKING) Thorne. How is she not listed though??
ReplyDelete1) I don't watch Revenge. 2) It's a poll asking who your favorites are. 3) There are too many great characters and not enough spots.
ReplyDeleteSo many great characters. On the list, Veronica Mars and Buffy. Off the list, my top two favorites are Fiona Glenanne (Burn Notice) and Parker (Leverage). They both have a skill set they are an expert in and are a vital part of their teams. It's great to have women who are thoroughly competent to watch. ReplyDeleteBuffy - Vampire Slayer
Alicia Florrick - Good Wife
Regina - OUAT
Christina Yang - Greys
Fran - Nanny (because....)
Xen - Warrior Princes (Again, because!)
The two I picked are Buffy and Sydney. The character of Buffy helped make a number of these characters possible. I also pick.... Starbuck, Veronica, Olivia, and Nikita (both the CW incarnation and the first run syndie version that was on in the late 90s)

ReplyDeleteOh the first 3 seasons of Supernatural are definitely worth the time. If you do get to them, let me know what you think. I love talking early SPN with first time watchers because I always get a nw perspective.
ReplyDeleteI will, thanks for your kindness! :)
ReplyDeleteCathrine Chandler from Beauty and the Beast
