Incessant shipping and fandom war is what destroyed this show in the first place!! Still voted for bamon coz this ship is unusual and non-romantic and i'm curious to see how they they explore their relationship in the show as opposed to the books.

It took me a few seconds to figure out what Kalijah was, and then I realized that it has to be my least favorite ship, which is really saying something considering the way I feel about Delena. Has anyone ever considered Elejah at all? Spoilers and comments from Paul Wesley indicate that Steroline won't happen anytime soon, so obviously this poll entertains ships that only exist in people's minds. Elena's dynamic with Elijah was the only one that I was willing to tolerate by Season 3. I probably liked the idea of Elejah so much because Daniel Gillies believed that Elijah was in love with Elena and played it up that way. He did really well with that. Unfortunately, Saving Hope, and now The Originals, ensured that the relationship will never happen. It's really sad.
An even bigger pity is that people don't see the potential of Bamon. That's the ship I voted for. Julie Plec is holding to the plan for the end of the series that she and Kevin Williamson came up with together years ago. Now that we know that the series will end with Elena separating from both Salvatore brothers, I can feel free to be optimistic that there's an end in sight to that particular drama. If a lesbian relationship does happen in the coming season, it'll be a stepping stone to Elena at least starting to move on from Damon before he's brought back. The EPs have expressed intentions to move away from the love triangle before the series is over, and I'm willing to bet that we'll see Elena with a new guy in Season 7 if not by the end of Season 6. I have no doubt that The CW will renew the show for a 7th season because regardless of what is said by a handful of people on the internet, TVD is still a hit show. That's why it's going to be the first to premiere in the Fall.
How done I am with these ships. I started watching The Vampire Diaries because it had a lot of action and magic. I assume romanticism is a part of the show but this is excessive. In the last two seasons,romanticism has been the only important thing in the show and season 6 will be the same. There are ships that make sense like Stelena,Delena,Steroline or Klaroline. But there are others that are ridiculous like Stebekah or Bamon.In the books Damon has strong feelings for Bonnie but in the tv show that relationship has no sense. The Vampire Diaries is my favorite tv show but I would like that writers didn't focus so much in romanticism.

Yoou fans ASKED for TVD to be torn down to become 'The Shipper Diaries'. The first two ships in this poll pretty much symbolize WHY this show went down.
Delena should always have been 'the obstacle' putting Damon up as the storylines wildcard. But they bended the idea of a relationship that would influence the storyline for shippers, that way they completely abandoned the shows premise, turned it into a snoozefest and ignored the fact that there were stories to tell instead of fans to please.
I'm not even going to start with the disgusting thing they called Klaroline, simply because it's partially what completely DESTROYED Klaus as a character and turned him into the biggest hypocrite in TVDs universe (sorry Elijah, you have to take #2). Klaus should have massacred Caroline on SO MANY occasions despite his feelings for her but every scene between them that could have potentially changed into a game changing twist or storyarc was turned into a shipper pleasing moment.
Ultimately I had to vote for Kalijah, not only because I love both Katherine and Elijah but because it's the only ship that actually served the characters instead of their fans. Katherines old persona came out and for a while it looked like she could be redeemed and Elijahs hope for finding some normality almost came to fruiton. Basically they're the only couple I'm upset that went nowhere (thanks Klaus, Hayley and Damon).
long story short: TVD was GREAT for a CW show in its first two seasons, it was pretty much proof that Twilight hadn't destroyed everything about the vampire myth and that romance and vampires didn't mean that something would have to be abandoned. Then this turned EXACTLY into Twilight with season 3 pushing for Delena, Klaroline and whatnot.
This poll is everything that is wrong with TVD. This show had so much potential in S1. Then JP's obession with IS took over. The relationships on this show have been shown to mean nothing. Words and actions mean nothing. Why care about any of them? The ridiculousness is why I happily left this show. The only relationship I cared about before I quit was Damon and Alaric. Their unlikely friendship did show change, growth and respect. All of the others are jokes. That relationship and Stefan are the only redeeming qualities this show has.
Klaroline makes sense? I'm sorry, I must have water in my ear or something. Yeah, they should get married over the corpses of Jenna and Carol. VERY romantic!!!!
S2 was all Forwood than klaus ruined it by being an annoying mosquito and sleeping with Caroline. I'm a one couple/ kinda gal so nothing now and no reason to watch anymore.

Yes, it is. There is very little action or adventure, it's all about who's falling for who. Frankly the fact that they're vampires or werewolves or whatever has become a footnote.
Klaroline doesn't technically make sense (to me) but the two actors have great chemistry which is probably why Plec kept on pushing for that story. I believe it's the same reason Damon/Elena is suddenly a thing because Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev look good together, it doesn't have anything to do with the plot.
I'm not a Delena fan, as a matter of fact I only ship Elena/Permanent Death, but I read the first few books, and Delena was there, you know the possibility, so it's not only because Ian and Nina started dating.
I'm a Delena shipper, but I certainly don't ship Klaroline. And there are MANY Stelena shippers that ship Klaroline. In fact, most do. Look around at your own fanbase before you lump people together.. And stop shaming people for what they ship. There's nothing misogynistic or abusive about Delena. What the person @Joy said above is true, but you misinterpreted her, of course. You are bringing attention the show by constantly whining about it. Any attention is good attention. You aren't hurting anyone or changing anything.
I actually agree with you about Klaroline, but what's the need to be so rude and combative? Every vampire on the show has killed people. There is a different kind of morality in the TVD world. You might as well ship no one together if you're going to use murder as the reason why.
Guess what? When there's a long term love triangle, both sides happen. It's inevitable. Dawson/Joey/Pacey. Noel/Felicity/Ben. Delena was ALWAYS going to happen. You are basically saying TVD sucks because the ship you prefer ended. It's funny you mention Twlight, because I always felt Stelena was a more poorly written and cheesier Twilight knock off.

I wasn't talking about them dating just the chemistry between the actors. In the books there was Damon/Elena but not as the endgame, it was more like a sideline before the Elena/Stefan resumed.

And nothing says "NOT abusive" like a girl hooking up with the guy who raped (yes, raped, your endless excuses and apologetic bending over backwards won't change that), abused, and tried to kill one of her best friends twice, tried to kill her other best friend and her BROTHER as well, tried to force her to become a vampire, and whatnot. The fact that you, like similar fangirls of your creed, are too busy going "OMG DAMON IS SO HAAAAAAAAAAWT, NOTHING HE DOES IS WRONG, EVER!!!!!" to see that isn't my problem. Yes, there's a different kind of morality: for example, Caroline has only killed about three people as per the end of Season 3 (when I stopped watching): one when she couldn't control her vampire urges and two when she was trying to save Damon and Stefan. THAT I can accept. Or even Elijah killing several other vampires in his pursuit of taking down Klaus. I can't accept vampires doing evil shit just for the sake of it, like Klaus murdering Jenna just so he can become a hybrid. And since Elena is one of Caroline's best friends, the fact that people prefer shipping over the basic decency of her NOT dating the guy who slaughtered Elena's aunt is rather troubling, I'll say. Then again, Elena is dating the guy who raped, abused and twice tried to kill Caroline, so... schmetails! (Actually, Klaus has tried to kill Caroline several times as well, but I'm sure the shippers are going to twist that into something romantic, too.)
Forwood was beautiful before the show went to hell. I wish Tyler had stayed a wolf and this little adorable couple would've been left alone while the show around it became such a mess.
There's been a series of articles over time about the basic plan for the ending to the series. Julie Plec said in her last post - mortem for TVD that she's sticking to that plan, except that someone who was going to be a ghost will have to be shown some other way because the Other Side is gone.
That's a little condescending. Just because both pairings were inevitable doesn't mean they were done right. I have more issues with the writing than I do the "love" triangle. I also wholeheartedly believe that the Damon/Elena pairing is as much JP service as it is fan service. If not for the quality of shows like Arrow, SPN and The 100, and lots of excitement for The Flash and Jane the Virgin, the CW would find it harder to break away from being the "love triangle done wrong" network. It's why Jason Rothenberg tries so hard to promote his show as a survival story and not a romance. Plecs work precedes her.
Forwood was the only couple I shipped until he was turned into hybrid and the writers decided to ruin them by adding Klaroline to the mix... Such a shame, it was the only relationship that felt organic.

Really not into the shipping wars' nonsense JP and her team seem to perpetuate. Fan service will be the death of this show (these shows? Hopefully the originals will be spared) if they just complied to every fan's whims but here I am voting for Steroline lol! Honestly I've enjoyed the two characters' chemistry for awhile and I'm just into any relationship that will save us from this exhauted love triangle that nearly ruined the three main characters. And in my humble opinion, they just make more sense that any of the ships that has been mentionned above, but that's just me. On another note, Bamon is great although I see nothing romantic and quite frankly that's refreshing! I just want more interaction between those two I think they have amazing chemistry!
Katherine and Elijah have the best romance on The Vampire Diaries. They loved each other for centuries. There is so much potential. It makes no sense how he didn't go to her in TVD100 if he knew what was going on.. Julie needs to stop acting foolish. #Kalijah forever.

Aaaaaanyways: No, the show was not based on a love triangle. The show started with three themes: 1) Elena discovers the supernatural, and she (and everyone else) try not to be killed. 2) Elena, Stefan, and Damon attempt to come to terms with their past. 3) Elena, Stefan, and Damon attempt to reconcile their relationships with the "important" people around them. (Elena and her family/friends; Stefan and Damon with each other).
While there was a significant romance plot, it was not in any way the core of the show. Your statement that it is would be equally accurate if applied to the Hunger Games.
IMHO, I've never really understood being invested in a relationship which involved one half of the couple being involved in the other half's torture. Caroline forgave him for being complicit in the werewolves torturing her, but that was pretty much just the first of many times when Tyler decided to put wolf business before her.
The best thing about their relationship, as far as I'm concerned, is how quintessentially "first love: important, but not meant to last" it is. Considering how YA fiction often tries to make everyone have a happily ever after with their "one true love", I really enjoyed how this relationship was obviously not meant to be. It's a nice rarity in this sort of television.
One of my favourite moments of latter-day TVD was when Tyler was bitching to Caroline again about her having had sex with Klaus, and she finally brought up how unfair it was that he had just killed someone and nobody cared, yet everyone was still judging her about something that she straight-up admitted was a mistake and apologized for.
Her and Elijah essentially fill the same role: They are the only characters in their shows that ponder about the morality of their situation, and take action solely in order to live up to their ideology or ethical standards, rather than for purely pragmatic reasons.
As much as I disagree with Joy, acting like someone's opinion that you shouldn't post negatively on a message board HAS ANYTHING to do with human rights is ridiculous. There are people for whom that is an actual, pertinent issue. For none of them is the issue that they are being advised on what subjects they should speak about over a message board.
I was reading all your comments and i couldn't help but notice that for someone who has stopped watching TVD 2 years ago,you are way too much bothered about all these stupid shippings.I'm just curious as to what does it matter to you who ships who in a fiction show,a show you clearly have to no interest according to you.I am neither any of thsese rabid fandom,so i'm just asking as a TVD viewer in case you think otherwise.
It does. It's their right to freedom of speech as enshrined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Are there people who have it worse off and don't have such freedoms, yes but to say to someone to basically shut up because they're opinion is negative is ridiculous as while you can say it, it removes the subjectivity of mediums and opinions.
I guess I'd go with Steroline and Bamon. I actually liked Caroline with Tyler and Bonnie with Jeremy in the earlier seasons, but the writers ruined both relationships for me. I think the way they developed Caroline and Stefan's friendship is the perfect setup for a relationship. I've always found the obsessive way in which Stefan and Damon pursued Elena, based initially on her resemblance to Katherine a bit of a turn-off, so I would love to see both brothers show that they can care for someone who isn't a doppleganger.
Unfortunately, if Steroline happened, it probably wouldn't last, because it would conflict with Plec's longterm goal of having Caroline hook up with every single cute guy on the show. be able to hook up with every new cute guy on the show,and then Plec would have to find another means to live out all of her fantasies.. I also doubt that Damon and Bonnie will never happen as long as Plec is in charge and as long as she keeps trying to please certain fandoms. Damon and Bonnie clearly had tons of chemistry in the first 2 seasons; however, Bonnie has been at the periphery so much that we barely get scenes with her and Damon.
I do think the show should've done a better job of portraying Tyler's conflict - when he hesitated before letting Caroline out of the cage, and then when he stood by and didn't even react with Jules having a gun to Caroline's head, that was pretty awful. They hadn't gotten nearly enough mileage out of the werewolf storyline at that point for me to buy that he would hesitate before helping Caroline, who stayed with him during his transformation, over the wolves he'd just met. He didn't even give her a chance to explain her supposed involvement in Mason's murder. Also, when they met again in 2x20 I expected a bigger apology from Tyler. All of that was wrapped up too soon.
I was willing to overlook that in the beginning of Season 3 because they were really cute together, and the only couple that didn't involve mass murderers and rapists. But then Tyler was hybrid-ed and removed Caroline's agency in 3x09 (injecting her with vervain and taking her away from the party), the exact kind of abusive behavior whose absence had been so refreshing in that relationship up until that point. From that point onwards, things pretty much went south, as you noted. I only caught random clips from Seasons 4 and 5 but at that point, Tyler was simply a jerk to Caroline. So I no longer support that relationship (although I *will* say it's got nothing on Klaroline). But I DID love it at first, I admit.

I cannot disagree with you regarding the masochistic and sexist overtone of the show,however for CW executives,it's a win-win.For a show on the way of it's six season,it's still popular in the core demographic-teen females irrespective of the show's message.You don't repair what's working,for CW anyway! So,i get where you are coming from-but the sad truth is until the very end of the show,most probably next season,this won't change especially with caroline dries and julie plec are in-charge who are both damon and klaus fangirls.I completely ignore these aspect of the show and enjoy the show for the characters like caroline and stefan and many others.I don't want to sound shallow,being a gay man,watching gorgeous and handome guys like paul,ian,steven,michael malarkey as eye-candy serves as an additional perk for me!!

julie has confirmed elena will not jump in bed with stefan in season six and stefan will be living his life alone away from the others.Elena will work as a medical intern to cope with damon's loss.I guess they are trying to rectify some of the mistakes they made last season!
Last season love triangle drama ruined the show for me, i hope that this season they get back on track. Elena as a medical intern is hard to understand, i guess she has learned how not to loose control now that she is going to be surrounded by a lot of blood, but hey she can do the same as the girl in S2 or was it 3? the woman the Dr. that used Vamp blood to cure people.
I usually only read the articles that pop up on this website. I stumbled onto the one about how the show will end by accident.
How it all plays out is still a big mystery, so there will be surprises, about one or two seasons' worth. My personal assumption is that enough will happen to Elena that she'll outgrow Stefan and Damon and everything that came with them from the start. In fact, considering that Stefan and Damon are supposed to eventually be separated from each other too, they might also outgrow any adolescent drama. The core three might also fall in love with different people and decide that, due to circumstances that haven't happened yet, the three of them can no longer be near each other and be happy. There are a lot of possibilities, and I'm sure a lot of theories have been debated. I've said this before, but I think that Steroline is being called a "slow burn," and Bamon has just barely been introduced on-screen, because those are endgame relationships. I don't think Elena will end up alone, and killing her off in the end would be just plain cruel. I have a feeling that it's taking so long for the writers to show a love interest for Elena because that relationship will be surprising and epic enough to put Delena to shame. We might see something start to develop sometime in Season 6 while Elena is going through the grieving process.
Dr.meredith fell who gave damon's blood to save elena in season 3 finale.She appeared in season 4 in some of the episodes.I also got another info-stefan will repair damon's car which got wrecked in the fire explosion at the grill,sad but a sweet gesture.I am getting a vive that they are re-booting the show's premise-moving away from the core love-triangle,putting bamon in a whole different dimension altogether,alaric coming back will also provide elena and jeremy with a rational parent figure which they both need desperately,Matt enrolling in the law enforcement.Julie also said they woul;d be moving away from Villain of the season pattern this year and focus on a mystery arc throughout the season.Let's give them a chance this season first and see where they go from there.Suffice to say,the first 5-6 episodes will be more or less without delena romance drama.Episode 8 will be their reunion episode as indicated by that episode's director joshua butler's tweet.
i like that they are moving to grown up stuff, their leaving their teenage years behind, i hope it does it good for the show. Glee lost a lot of audience when they move on to a more grown up territory and the show couldnt go back on track i hope that TVD does it well.
And this is where I kindly ask, why is alaric back again. What is he here for? He had a good storyline when esther turned into a vampire hunter but the actor decided to leave the show just like claire did. Coming back isn't gona do it for me. It's about time the dead stays dead.
Well don't be fooled by julies interviews. She seldom goes by what she says. She says one thing and changes when the show is in production which I understand cause ideas changes but her change of ideas from what she says at prior productions are never to be trusted.
TVD was messy last season and i hope they do better quality wise.I wouldn't worry much about ratings as it will get a final 7th season irrespective of their ratings if the contract renewal negotiations come through this jan.Glee,on the other hand,is a whole another story altogether.
could it be the character kai who will enter elena's life.Julie did say he has the most interesting role this season so far and his performance knocked her out.
I am very excited about Kai for that reason. I don't know if he'll be part of Elena's story exactly, but I hope he at least gets ample screen time with her if he's that important of a character. I sincerely hope he isn't just another plot device for whatever Caroline is supposed to be doing this season. I'm so tired of her character at this point that it doesn't even matter anymore if she gets moved onto The Originals.
caroline will be a part of TVD until the end,julie has said time and again.She will most probably move over to TO after TVD ends though IMO.I couldn't agree more regarding kai.I'm also looking forward to see jodi and colin's role.
I wish julie would have introduced a new strong female charactor as klaus love interest and not caroline. That way, she can explore that new charactors mission which will eventually make an easy crossover to nola without taking away a main charactor from tvd. I think she tried to do that with hayley but it failed. Forwood and damon were cute but I got bored with them. Just as julie I like a romance that is based on love and hate or hard to get. Which is why I like klaroline. But right now, I would really love to explore the chemistry that is of bamon. Klaroline is epic but she ruined it badly. She rushed it and ended it for reasons I'm still trying to find. Hopefully she corrects it and bring them back.
LOL. I'm a gay man too and believe me, I enjoyed watching the seemingly neverending gallery of gorgeous men on this show. However, the sexism got too blatant for me to swallow at some point. That, and I find Klaus downright unwatchable, although since Season 5 he's off in his own show.
Don't worry,i have to endure TO coz of my one of the fav character-elijah.I, too cannot stand klaus.But julie is klaus fangirl and he is practically unkillable coz of the mythology,so might as well accept him as much as possible since he's not going anywhere anytime!
It's just my opinion of course but I think Klaroline was never really meant to be even if the two characters (and actors) did have amazing chemistry (and I don't ship them!). But the spin-off was in the works and I don't know that the writers ever intented to pursue that one. They needed to humanize Klaus by giving him a love interest that showed a tenderer side to him as well as exploring the Mikaelson's twisted family dynamics (which was kinda more interesting for me to watch personally) so he could move onto his own show. And I really feel like Caroline belongs to the TVD world and Klaus to TO's universe right now, so I don't think they ever planned a reunion between those two but I could be wrong of course and JP does do fan service after all... And also, will the actress be willing to continue playing the same character after the end of TVD (which would be the only moment I could see that happening)? I don't really know so I guess we'll just have to wait and see :) ! I do agree with you about strong females characters being introduced in TO tough. And altought I think they were there, some of them bit the dust very quickly unfortunately. They had Genevieve (who was great!), Celeste and now Francesca's there but she's probably gonna die soon and she was never a love interest anyway! Personally, I like both Cami and Hayley (I know it's not a popular opinion but I really do lol) but I just don't think they can be 'good' love-interest material for anyone in the show and frankly I don't want them to be. I wish the writers would stop trying to force that on them because it's not good for their characters to be constantly tangled up in other characters' SLs (especially for Cami if you ask me). Hopefully we'll get to see her (Cami) find her own independance, just like Davina did when she brought Mikael back and put him on a leash! I giggled like a twelve year old at that one and I just can't wait to see those characters interact, it's gonna be fun :) ! Also sorry I kinda got carried away and went off topic here! It's hard to understand Elena would try to be a medical intern considering she's almost never been to school lol, but I really like we'll get to see her doing something that's not boy related for once! I'm all for the writers giving the character her independance back!
This a hundred times! And even if I adored Lexi it was good to see her go for this reason. As much as I love Alaric I wish the dead would stop coming back whenever Elena is in need of emotional support and psychological stability. That's why Jeremy came back when he passed for like the bazillionth time and he should have stayed dead! I was glad the Other Side was destroyed in the first place because death has to mean something again but Damon and Bonnie are coming back so there's still a way out and I'm not a fan! That being said I'm really curious how the writers will handle that part of their mythology! And quite selfishly I'm glad they're coming back (I know logic + me =LOL!)
Anything but Klaroline. All the ships in this show has been ruined but Klaroline is the worst since the first time the characters interacted. Another ship that only "works" based on looks despite the fact it makes both characters act very OOC.
Guess what? Just because it was inevitable they didn't have to write it as a codependant, pathetic and highly disturbing realtionship that forces me to believe that the writing is the biggest step back in feminism since the invention of the sandwich. And as a guy I usually couldn't care less about a teen ship but this ship is seriously worrying me in terms of what it's showing kids to be a 'healthy' relationship.

Anything would be better than ridiculous stupid klaroline stuff,i have seen every episode of the vampire diaries & the originals shows,i've never seen any chemistry romantic or otherwise between these characters/actors.klaroline has been the worst part of the show.if the writers keep on insisting on giving caroline these romantic storylines they should give caroline one love interest that is more like her & thinks like her with her same interests which is not klaus.please i'm wishing no more caroline sleeping around with everyone. if klaus ever even is able to be in any sort of relationship it should be with someone with the same kind of sofistication,intellect that klaus has (klaus will have more to talk about with someone with those same qualities as klaus has.) i also think these shows would be great if these characters had NO romantic love interests at all.
Caroline is the only character who's close to Klaus' "sophistication and intellect". She's smart, bubbly, fierce, strong, loyal and compassionate (I could go on), and that's exactly what a man like Klaus needs.
I made the poll and I didn't include Elenjah because it isn't canon nor do I think they would be very good together. She killed two of his brothers and has betrayed him several times in attempt to kill his other siblings
This is not true.If LJ Smith wanted Delena as engame,why they fired her?In the books the closure is Delena.It doesn't make any sense.I heard that Smith wanted to make Bonnie a main character and to close with Stefan and Elena together and Damon with another lady of Mystic Falls,but she never said who.

Why would producers create a show about abusive, misogynistic relationships anyway? You're obviously getting it all wrong. They are all vampires, supernatural creatures, you need to remember that. How can you know that? They don't even have that many scenes together. Elena used to excuse his actions because she loved him. I'm not saying It's right, but It's not a thing anymore. I think after they broke up, It woke up both them. Damon cares about Bonnie, sure. They're gonna be good friends after what they've been through obviously. I think It's gonna be great to see that. But nothing more. They don't have a relationship, they wil never have one. Can you honestly tell me you can see Damon choosing anyone's life over Elena's? Never gonna happen. It would be OOC and why would they lose 5 seasons of build up and journey for this? Why would Damon fall out of love from Elena, and do this to her? Same with Bonnie. She loves Jeremy, she's selfless and she would never hurt her best friend this way. If they ever developed something romantic, It would ruin the whole show and had no sense.

Hahah, and Klayley isn't abusive? He choked, insulted and locked her up in his home just because she was carrying "his" child. She was his prisoner. He treats her like an object and doesn't really give a damn about her. Hayley should run as far as she can from him.
They have actually had a lot of scenes together over the seasons slowing building up their relationship and there has been no proof that she stopped and if Damon had really changed for her (and may I point out that he had to change to be with her and be more like Stefan who he is not they are both amazing in their own ways) as I was saying If he had really changed for her he wouldn't go back to his old ways every time she dumps him.
Damon loved Bonnie Elena pointed that out herself he cares about her he was the one that did whatever i took to bring her back and before you say that was for Elena she didn't even seem to care she was the reason Bonnie wasn't resurrected properly because she was jealous over Stefan and it would of seemed OOC for Damon to choose anyone over Katherine in S1
....but he did he could fall in love with someone else and have a better relationship where he doesn't always have to worry about her being in love with his brother and maybe he will finally realise Elena is nothing more then a whiny selfish brat with no real personality who only cares about having everyone kissing her feet and will always string along him and his brother and that 5 seasons of build up has lost them major ratings with everyone getting sick of Dullena as everyone calls them and Bamon is fresh and different to the love triangle which everyone is sick of and Elena deserves to have her heart broken she broke up with Stefan to hook up with his brother and so much more she is horrible and Bonnie is too good for Elena too she is selfless and amazing and Elena has never been a good friend to her and she will probably try to stay away from Damon for that reason but from what I've seen from the spoilers my theory is they're have been sent to an alternate reality where they're human and together and have no memory of their other lives (why else would Damon where plaid?) and Bonnie wont remember Elena and fall for him and when she finds out she will feel guilty and try to brake up with Damon but is in love with him and Jeremy is not good enough for Bonnie he cheated on her with a ghost hopefully dying (again) will make her less of a push over and she will feel bad for falling for Damon but she will realise she never really loved Jeremy and it makes perfect sense they have had an amazing build up and a lot of people might come back to the show and keep watching because they story would be new and interesting and Bamon have a great dynamic and Ian, Julie and Kat have said that Bamon is coming to quote Ian "Vampires's can't procreate but they can try over and over again" when talking about Bamon and as Julie and Ian have said "There's a fine line between love and hate"
Klaroline may be one of the most popular ships but it is definitely one of the most unpopular ones, if this was an anti ship one klaroline would be on the top 2 tbh :')

ReplyDeleteIt took me a few seconds to figure out what Kalijah was, and then I realized that it has to be my least favorite ship, which is really saying something considering the way I feel about Delena. Has anyone ever considered Elejah at all? Spoilers and comments from Paul Wesley indicate that Steroline won't happen anytime soon, so obviously this poll entertains ships that only exist in people's minds. Elena's dynamic with Elijah was the only one that I was willing to tolerate by Season 3. I probably liked the idea of Elejah so much because Daniel Gillies believed that Elijah was in love with Elena and played it up that way. He did really well with that. Unfortunately, Saving Hope, and now The Originals, ensured that the relationship will never happen. It's really sad.
An even bigger pity is that people don't see the potential of Bamon. That's the ship I voted for. Julie Plec is holding to the plan for the end of the series that she and Kevin Williamson came up with together years ago. Now that we know that the series will end with Elena separating from both Salvatore brothers, I can feel free to be optimistic that there's an end in sight to that particular drama. If a lesbian relationship does happen in the coming season, it'll be a stepping stone to Elena at least starting to move on from Damon before he's brought back. The EPs have expressed intentions to move away from the love triangle before the series is over, and I'm willing to bet that we'll see Elena with a new guy in Season 7 if not by the end of Season 6. I have no doubt that The CW will renew the show for a 7th season because regardless of what is said by a handful of people on the internet, TVD is still a hit show. That's why it's going to be the first to premiere in the Fall.

How done I am with these ships. I started watching The Vampire Diaries because it had a lot of action and magic. I assume romanticism is a part of the show but this is excessive. In the last two seasons,romanticism has been the only important thing in the show and season 6 will be the same. There are ships that make sense like Stelena,Delena,Steroline or Klaroline. But there are others that are ridiculous like Stebekah or Bamon.In the books Damon has strong feelings for Bonnie but in the tv show that relationship has no sense. The Vampire Diaries is my favorite tv show but I would like that writers didn't focus so much in romanticism.

ReplyDeleteYoou fans ASKED for TVD to be torn down to become 'The Shipper Diaries'. The first two ships in this poll pretty much symbolize WHY this show went down.
Delena should always have been 'the obstacle' putting Damon up as the storylines wildcard. But they bended the idea of a relationship that would influence the storyline for shippers, that way they completely abandoned the shows premise, turned it into a snoozefest and ignored the fact that there were stories to tell instead of fans to please.
I'm not even going to start with the disgusting thing they called Klaroline, simply because it's partially what completely DESTROYED Klaus as a character and turned him into the biggest hypocrite in TVDs universe (sorry Elijah, you have to take #2).
Klaus should have massacred Caroline on SO MANY occasions despite his feelings for her but every scene between them that could have potentially changed into a game changing twist or storyarc was turned into a shipper pleasing moment.
Ultimately I had to vote for Kalijah, not only because I love both Katherine and Elijah but because it's the only ship that actually served the characters instead of their fans. Katherines old persona came out and for a while it looked like she could be redeemed and Elijahs hope for finding some normality almost came to fruiton.
Basically they're the only couple I'm upset that went nowhere (thanks Klaus, Hayley and Damon).
long story short: TVD was GREAT for a CW show in its first two seasons, it was pretty much proof that Twilight hadn't destroyed everything about the vampire myth and that romance and vampires didn't mean that something would have to be abandoned. Then this turned EXACTLY into Twilight with season 3 pushing for Delena, Klaroline and whatnot.

I believe it's the same reason Damon/Elena is suddenly a thing because Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev look good together, it doesn't have anything to do with the plot.

Yes, there's a different kind of morality: for example, Caroline has only killed about three people as per the end of Season 3 (when I stopped watching): one when she couldn't control her vampire urges and two when she was trying to save Damon and Stefan. THAT I can accept. Or even Elijah killing several other vampires in his pursuit of taking down Klaus. I can't accept vampires doing evil shit just for the sake of it, like Klaus murdering Jenna just so he can become a hybrid. And since Elena is one of Caroline's best friends, the fact that people prefer shipping over the basic decency of her NOT dating the guy who slaughtered Elena's aunt is rather troubling, I'll say. Then again, Elena is dating the guy who raped, abused and twice tried to kill Caroline, so... schmetails! (Actually, Klaus has tried to kill Caroline several times as well, but I'm sure the shippers are going to twist that into something romantic, too.)

Julie Plec said in her last post - mortem for TVD that she's sticking to that plan, except that someone who was going to be a ghost will have to be shown some other way because the Other Side is gone.

ReplyDeleteThat's a little condescending. Just because both pairings were inevitable doesn't mean they were done right. I have more issues with the writing than I do the "love" triangle. I also wholeheartedly believe that the Damon/Elena pairing is as much JP service as it is fan service. If not for the quality of shows like Arrow, SPN and The 100, and lots of excitement for The Flash and Jane the Virgin, the CW would find it harder to break away from being the "love triangle done wrong" network. It's why Jason Rothenberg tries so hard to promote his show as a survival story and not a romance. Plecs work precedes her.

Hopefully the originals will be spared) if they just complied to every fan's whims but here I am voting for Steroline lol! Honestly I've enjoyed the two characters' chemistry for awhile and I'm just into any relationship that will save us from this exhauted love triangle that nearly ruined the three main characters. And in my humble opinion, they just make more sense that any of the ships that has been mentionned above, but that's just me.

ReplyDeleteAaaaaanyways: No, the show was not based on a love triangle. The show started with three themes:
1) Elena discovers the supernatural, and she (and everyone else) try not to be killed.
2) Elena, Stefan, and Damon attempt to come to terms with their past.
3) Elena, Stefan, and Damon attempt to reconcile their relationships with the "important" people around them. (Elena and her family/friends; Stefan and Damon with each other).
While there was a significant romance plot, it was not in any way the core of the show. Your statement that it is would be equally accurate if applied to the Hunger Games.
IMHO, I've never really understood being invested in a relationship which involved one half of the couple being involved in the other half's torture. Caroline forgave him for being complicit in the werewolves torturing her, but that was pretty much just the first of many times when Tyler decided to put wolf business before her.

Considering how YA fiction often tries to make everyone have a happily ever after with their "one true love", I really enjoyed how this relationship was obviously not meant to be. ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite moments of latter-day TVD was when Tyler was bitching to Caroline again about her having had sex with Klaus, and she finally brought up how unfair it was that he had just killed someone and nobody cared, yet everyone was still judging her about something that she straight-up admitted was a mistake and apologized for.
Her and Elijah essentially fill the same role: They are the only characters in their shows that ponder about the morality of their situation, and take action solely in order to live up to their ideology or ethical standards, rather than for purely pragmatic reasons.
As much as I disagree with Joy, acting like someone's opinion that you shouldn't post negatively on a message board HAS ANYTHING to do with human rights is ridiculous. There are people for whom that is an actual, pertinent issue. For none of them is the issue that they are being advised on what subjects they should speak about over a message board.

ReplyDeleteI guess I'd go with Steroline and Bamon. I actually liked Caroline with Tyler and Bonnie with Jeremy in the earlier seasons, but the writers ruined both relationships for me. I think the way they developed Caroline and Stefan's friendship is the perfect setup for a relationship. I've always found the obsessive way in which Stefan and Damon pursued Elena, based initially on her resemblance to Katherine a bit of a turn-off, so I would love to see both brothers show that they can care for someone who isn't a doppleganger.
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, if Steroline happened, it probably wouldn't last, because it would conflict with Plec's longterm goal of having Caroline hook up with every single cute guy on the show. be able to hook up with every new cute guy on the show,and then Plec would have to find another means to live out all of her fantasies.. I also doubt that Damon and Bonnie will never happen as long as Plec is in charge and as long as she keeps trying to please certain fandoms. Damon and Bonnie clearly had tons of chemistry in the first 2 seasons; however, Bonnie has been at the periphery so much that we barely get scenes with her and Damon.

ReplyDeleteI do think the show should've done a better job of portraying Tyler's conflict - when he hesitated before letting Caroline out of the cage, and then when he stood by and didn't even react with Jules having a gun to Caroline's head, that was pretty awful. They hadn't gotten nearly enough mileage out of the werewolf storyline at that point for me to buy that he would hesitate before helping Caroline, who stayed with him during his transformation, over the wolves he'd just met. He didn't even give her a chance to explain her supposed involvement in Mason's murder. Also, when they met again in 2x20 I expected a bigger apology from Tyler. All of that was wrapped up too soon.
ReplyDeleteI was willing to overlook that in the beginning of Season 3 because they were really cute together, and the only couple that didn't involve mass murderers and rapists. But then Tyler was hybrid-ed and removed Caroline's agency in 3x09 (injecting her with vervain and taking her away from the party), the exact kind of abusive behavior whose absence had been so refreshing in that relationship up until that point. From that point onwards, things pretty much went south, as you noted. I only caught random clips from Seasons 4 and 5 but at that point, Tyler was simply a jerk to Caroline. So I no longer support that relationship (although I *will* say it's got nothing on Klaroline). But I DID love it at first, I admit.
It's like you are trying to start a war lol. I really dont care at this point who the hell Elena chooses, it has become cliche and boring so im going fo Klaroline cause they way more interesting that the others.

ReplyDeleteI cannot disagree with you regarding the masochistic and sexist overtone of the show,however for CW executives,it's a win-win.For a show on the way of it's six season,it's still popular in the core demographic-teen females irrespective of the show's message.You don't repair what's working,for CW anyway! So,i get where you are coming from-but the sad truth is until the very end of the show,most probably next season,this won't change especially with caroline dries and julie plec are in-charge who are both damon and klaus fangirls.I completely ignore these aspect of the show and enjoy the show for the characters like caroline and stefan and many others.I don't want to sound shallow,being a gay man,watching gorgeous and handome guys like paul,ian,steven,michael malarkey as eye-candy serves as an additional perk for me!!

ReplyDeleteLast season love triangle drama ruined the show for me, i hope that this season they get back on track. Elena as a medical intern is hard to understand, i guess she has learned how not to loose control now that she is going to be surrounded by a lot of blood, but hey she can do the same as the girl in S2 or was it 3? the woman the Dr. that used Vamp blood to cure people.

ReplyDeleteHow it all plays out is still a big mystery, so there will be surprises, about one or two seasons' worth. My personal assumption is that enough will happen to Elena that she'll outgrow Stefan and Damon and everything that came with them from the start. In fact, considering that Stefan and Damon are supposed to eventually be separated from each other too, they might also outgrow any adolescent drama. The core three might also fall in love with different people and decide that, due to circumstances that haven't happened yet, the three of them can no longer be near each other and be happy. There are a lot of possibilities, and I'm sure a lot of theories have been debated. I've said this before, but I think that Steroline is being called a "slow burn," and Bamon has just barely been introduced on-screen, because those are endgame relationships. I don't think Elena will end up alone, and killing her off in the end would be just plain cruel. I have a feeling that it's taking so long for the writers to show a love interest for Elena because that relationship will be surprising and epic enough to put Delena to shame. We might see something start to develop sometime in Season 6 while Elena is going through the grieving process.
Dr.meredith fell who gave damon's blood to save elena in season 3 finale.She appeared in season 4 in some of the episodes.I also got another info-stefan will repair damon's car which got wrecked in the fire explosion at the grill,sad but a sweet gesture.I am getting a vive that they are re-booting the show's premise-moving away from the core love-triangle,putting bamon in a whole different dimension altogether,alaric coming back will also provide elena and jeremy with a rational parent figure which they both need desperately,Matt enrolling in the law enforcement.Julie also said they woul;d be moving away from Villain of the season pattern this year and focus on a mystery arc throughout the season.Let's give them a chance this season first and see where they go from there.Suffice to say,the first 5-6 episodes will be more or less without delena romance drama.Episode 8 will be their reunion episode as indicated by that episode's director joshua butler's tweet.

And this is where I kindly ask, why is alaric back again. What is he here for? He had a good storyline when esther turned into a vampire hunter but the actor decided to leave the show just like claire did. Coming back isn't gona do it for me. It's about time the dead stays dead.

I don't know if he'll be part of Elena's story exactly, but I hope he at least gets ample screen time with her if he's that important of a character. I sincerely hope he isn't just another plot device for whatever Caroline is supposed to be doing this season. I'm so tired of her character at this point that it doesn't even matter anymore if she gets moved onto The Originals.

ReplyDeleteI wish julie would have introduced a new strong female charactor as klaus love interest and not caroline. That way, she can explore that new charactors mission which will eventually make an easy crossover to nola without taking away a main charactor from tvd. I think she tried to do that with hayley but it failed. Forwood and damon were cute but I got bored with them. Just as julie I like a romance that is based on love and hate or hard to get. Which is why I like klaroline. But right now, I would really love to explore the chemistry that is of bamon. Klaroline is epic but she ruined it badly. She rushed it and ended it for reasons I'm still trying to find. Hopefully she corrects it and bring them back.
ReplyDeleteLOL. I'm a gay man too and believe me, I enjoyed watching the seemingly neverending gallery of gorgeous men on this show. However, the sexism got too blatant for me to swallow at some point. That, and I find Klaus downright unwatchable, although since Season 5 he's off in his own show.

ReplyDeleteIt's just my opinion of course but I think Klaroline was never really meant to be even if the two characters (and actors) did have amazing chemistry (and I don't ship them!). But the spin-off was in the works and I don't know that the writers ever intented to pursue that one. They needed to humanize Klaus by giving him a love interest that showed a tenderer side to him as well as exploring the Mikaelson's twisted family dynamics (which was kinda more interesting for me to watch personally) so he could move onto his own show. And I really feel like Caroline belongs to the TVD world and Klaus to TO's universe right now, so I don't think they ever planned a reunion between those two but I could be wrong of course and JP does do fan service after all... And also, will the actress be willing to continue playing the same character after the end of TVD (which would be the only moment I could see that happening)? I don't really know so I guess we'll just have to wait and see :) !
ReplyDeleteI do agree with you about strong females characters being introduced in TO tough. And altought I think they were there, some of them bit the dust very quickly unfortunately. They had Genevieve (who was great!), Celeste and now Francesca's there but she's probably gonna die soon and she was never a love interest anyway! Personally, I like both Cami and Hayley (I know it's not a popular opinion but I really do lol) but I just don't think they can be 'good' love-interest material for anyone in the show and frankly I don't want them to be. I wish the writers would stop trying to force that on them because it's not good for their characters to be constantly tangled up in other characters' SLs (especially for Cami if you ask me). Hopefully we'll get to see her (Cami) find her own independance, just like Davina did when she brought Mikael back and put him on a leash! I giggled like a twelve year old at that one and I just can't wait to see those characters interact, it's gonna be fun :) !

It's hard to understand Elena would try to be a medical intern considering she's almost never been to school lol, but I really like we'll get to see her doing something that's not boy related for once! I'm all for the writers giving the character her independance back!

As much as I love Alaric I wish the dead would stop coming back whenever Elena is in need of emotional support and psychological stability. That's why Jeremy came back when he passed for like the bazillionth time and he should have stayed dead!
ReplyDeleteI was glad the Other Side was destroyed in the first place because death has to mean something again but Damon and Bonnie are coming back so there's still a way out and I'm not a fan! That being said I'm really curious how the writers will handle that part of their mythology! And quite selfishly I'm glad they're coming back (I know logic + me =LOL!)
Anything but Klaroline. All the ships in this show has been ruined but Klaroline is the worst since the first time the characters interacted. Another ship that only "works" based on looks despite the fact it makes both characters act very OOC.

Anything would be better than ridiculous stupid klaroline stuff,i have seen every episode of the vampire diaries & the originals shows,i've never seen any chemistry romantic or otherwise between these characters/actors.klaroline has been the worst part of the show.if the writers keep on insisting on giving caroline these romantic storylines they should give caroline one love interest that is more like her & thinks like her with her same interests which is not klaus.please i'm wishing no more caroline sleeping around with everyone. if klaus ever even is able to be in any sort of relationship it should be with someone with the same kind of sofistication,intellect that klaus has (klaus will have more to talk about with someone with those same qualities as klaus has.) i also think these shows would be great if these characters had NO romantic love interests at all.

I think after they broke up, It woke up both them. Damon cares about Bonnie, sure. They're gonna be good friends after what they've been through obviously. I think It's gonna be great to see that. But nothing more. They don't have a relationship, they wil never have one. Can you honestly tell me you can see Damon choosing anyone's life over Elena's? Never gonna happen. It would be OOC and why would they lose 5 seasons of build up and journey for this? Why would Damon fall out of love from Elena, and do this to her? Same with Bonnie. ReplyDeleteThey have actually had a lot of scenes together over the seasons slowing building up their relationship and there has been no proof that she stopped and if Damon had really changed for her (and may I point out that he had to change to be with her and be more like Stefan who he is not they are both amazing in their own ways) as I was saying If he had really changed for her he wouldn't go back to his old ways every time she dumps him.

....but he did he could fall in love with someone else and have a better relationship where he doesn't always have to worry about her being in love with his brother and maybe he will finally realise Elena is nothing more then a whiny selfish brat with no real personality who only cares about having everyone kissing her feet and will always string along him and his brother and that 5 seasons of build up has lost them major ratings with everyone getting sick of Dullena as everyone calls them and Bamon is fresh and different to the love triangle which everyone is sick of and Elena deserves to have her heart broken she broke up with Stefan to hook up with his brother and so much more she is horrible and Bonnie is too good for Elena too she is selfless and amazing and Elena has never been a good friend to her and she will probably try to stay away from Damon for that reason but from what I've seen from the spoilers my theory is they're have been sent to an alternate reality where they're human and together and have no memory of their other lives (why else would Damon where plaid?) and Bonnie wont remember Elena and fall for him and when she finds out she will feel guilty and try to brake up with Damon but is in love with him and Jeremy is not good enough for Bonnie he cheated on her with a ghost hopefully dying (again) will make her less of a push over and she will feel bad for falling for Damon but she will realise she never really loved Jeremy and it makes perfect sense they have had an amazing build up and a lot of people might come back to the show and keep watching because they story would be new and interesting and Bamon have a great dynamic and Ian, Julie and Kat have said that Bamon is coming to quote Ian "Vampires's can't procreate but they can try over and over again" when talking about Bamon and as Julie and Ian have said "There's a fine line between love and hate"
