Episode 7 of The Strain airs tonight on FX and I am sure it will be everyone's favorite so far. Immediately after watching it I felt as though the whole tone of show shifted, breathing more life into an already amazing series. Last episode showed us Eph and Nora on the run joining up with Setrakian and more people were getting sick as a result of The Master's virus. Each new chapter in the show ups the creep factor just enough to outdo the previous one and The Strain is quickly becoming the best horror program on TV right now.
When the series first aired, I'll admit, I really did not like how the episodes seemed to fly through the hour as if you had just watched a fifteen minute infomercial about how to kill a vampire. However, now that the action is becoming more and more prevalent, I am truly enjoying the speed of the episodes and view it as a great way to tell this story.
Scenes to Notice
- Setrakian and Nora go over some of the weapons he has procured over the years in a scene that teaches us a few more ways to dispose of some of the Strigoi.
- The episode flips back and forth between present day and the World War II concentration camp Setrtakian was imprisoned in with Herr Eichorst as his warden. Each scene and line is delivered perfectly by the actors and they are some of the best scenes of the show.
- Eichorst's demeanor...we know he is working for The Master, but at what point in time was he granted eternal life? It's interesting to note his actions and try and figure out when he was turned.
Tagline Game
I have been writing for SpoilerTV for almost a full year now. Occasionally, we get episodes in advance of the airing and we write/post an article about it. The Strain is one of the first shows I have had the opportunity to write an 'Advanced Preview' for and all my fellow writers seem to have some signature section that they include in theirs that made me think I should have one as well. So, I decided to come up with this 'Tagline Game'. A tagline is optional for us to add to our Review/Post titles that describes in a few words what the particular episode was about. I thought it would be fun to include in my Advanced Previews five potential taglines that would include three I was thinking of using (that I would eventually choose one of) and add two to throw you off. (This idea sounded a lot better in my head) It is kind of like that game "Two Truths and a Lie"...except this would be called "Three Taglines and Two...False...Taglines" or something like that. Let's just stick with Tagline Game. So here we go, if you all don't like this game let me know and I'll think of some other brilliant idea.
