The Strain - Creatures Of The Night - Advanced Preview

GN Reviews The StrainPreviously on The Strain
Eph, Nora, Setrakian and Jim try to corner and capture Eichorst. Part of Setrakian's history, and connection to Eichorst and The Master, is revealed.
One of the most popular series of the Summer season is The Strain and each episode gets better and better. Last week we learned a little history about Setrakian and how he came to know Eichorst. Eichorst was his warden in a World War II Concentration Camp as he made Setrakian carve the coffin The Master uses to travel and sleep in. It was one of the better episodes of the season as it was full of action and rich with story and answers to some of our questions.
This Sunday's episode of The Strain is filled with action sequences from beginning to end and we get quite a few answers to the mythology, which is always welcome. Episode 8 has some of the best action scenes to date. As the episode picks right up where we left last week, our team of vampire hunters get right in to it, looking for ways to get the upper hand. I think some fans of the series will enjoy this episode as more characters are introduced and brought into the mix.
'Creatures Of The Night' reminded me a lot of early 'The Walking Dead' episodes from season 1 and season 2. The strigoi seem to be very similar to the walkers except, of course, the whole 'can't walk in the sunlight thing'...plus a few other characteristics. Some scenes from this Sunday's episode made me think of 'The Walking Dead', which I think is a good thing. The Strain is definitely unique with it's mythology and backstory.
Scenes to Notice
- There are several scenes where we learn different ways the team can kill the strigoi to look out for.
- Vasily Fet is in quite a few scenes and he is one of my favorites. He always has the comedic relief lines so keep an eye out for that.
- Setrakian and Eph argue with each other quite a bit and are fitting into 'Man of Science, Man of Faith' roles very well.
Tagline Game
I have been writing for SpoilerTV for almost a full year now. Occasionally, we get episodes in advance of the airing and we write/post an article about it. The Strain is one of the first shows I have had the opportunity to write an 'Advanced Preview' for and all my fellow writers seem to have some signature section that they include in theirs that made me think I should have one as well. So, I decided to come up with this 'Tagline Game'. A tagline is optional for us to add to our Review/Post titles that describes in a few words what the particular episode was about. I thought it would be fun to include in my Advanced Previews five potential taglines that would include three I was thinking of using (that I would eventually choose one of) and add two to throw you off. (This idea sounded a lot better in my head) It is kind of like that game "Two Truths and a Lie"...except this would be called "Three Taglines and Two...False...Taglines" or something like that. Let's just stick with Tagline Game. So here we go, if you all don't like this game let me know and I'll think of some other brilliant idea.
1. The Strain - Creatures Of The Night - Review: "Crazy Old Man With A Bloody Sword"
2. The Strain - Creatures Of The Night - Review: "Biggest Issue Is Still The Price Of Gas"
3. The Strain - Creatures Of The Night - Review: "Just Like Any Other Vermin"
4. The Strain - Creatures Of The Night - Review: "Us Or Them"
5. The Strain - Creatures Of The Night - Review: "Release Me"
I hope everyone enjoys the episode on Sunday! Have a great weekend everyone! And if you have any questions or would like to discuss The Strain further please comment below!
So Fet joines Abraham and Eph this episode? Love it that they will join forces, even tough it was bound to happen like in the books.
ReplyDeleteLove this show so much, even if it at times does boring things when it could have been awsome.
Can't wait.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the preview. Looking forward to seeing them all together. This show is one of the few bright spots left in a waning summer. But the new season is just a few weeks ahead of us.
ReplyDeleteVery action-heavy.
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! Seeing them together is great.
ReplyDeleteI was talking to some friends earlier today about how some episodes in the beginning were a little less than good. I mentioned to them last episode and this one coming up and I think it renewed their interest.
ReplyDeleteFet is my favorite too! I was wondering when he would meet up with Eph and the others , so I'm glad he does in the episode!
ReplyDeleteAs for the tagline I like this one the most "Just Like Any Other Vermin".
Thanks! I think you will love this episode!
ReplyDeleteI was really suprised of what they did last week. It was to soon, but also to soon in a good way. In the books the character pops up in book 2 of three. Here in the middle of the second act almost of the frst bok.
ReplyDeleteBased on the previews alone, this looks like a great episode.
ReplyDeleteQuestion: Does Nora finally get around to kicking some strigoi butt?
Just Like Any Other Vermin. Thanks for the preview.
ReplyDeleteVery good preview, thanks.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot for the previews! They are really cool features and help me quench the wait 'till Sunday. I know it's far fetched but "Crazy Old Man With A Bloody Sword" should totally be the tagline or an episode title or something. All hail Abraham Setrakian.
ReplyDeleteI'm completely rooting for Vasily to be more present in every episode, so him finding the scooby gang is awesome. I sorely felt his absence in the last episode.
It is a great episode, you will love it.I was asking myself that same question before, if Nora would be kicking some butt soon. She is getting to that point I think. Not a lot, but she is getting there. As far as The Master I will only say you don't necessarily see him. :)
ReplyDeleteYou're Welcome!
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome!
ReplyDeleteThat would be awesome if they used that idea for an episode title, Lol.
Vasily is my favorite too, I 'm really glad we will see more of him.
I agree. I was very surprised to see that so soon. I just finished reading the trilogy last week.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the preview! Sounds like another great episode, can't wait.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure I will :)
