Aug 12, 2014

Starz has given a straight-to-series order to The One Percent, an hourlong project from filmmaker Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu (Birdman) and MRC, which has Ed Helms set to star and Hilary Swank and Ed Harris poised to co-star. The order is for 10 episodes.

  1. I didn't expect this to be about a farmer. I'm definitely intrigued.

  2. A Starz farming drama? Well, this is going to be the next big show on SpoilerTV, I can smell it. Move over, Vampire Diaries!

I will be watching this. By reading the title you would expect a social/political drama indeed, but this sounds pretty good too, it's certainly set in something you don't see everywhere on TV. A fantastic cast in a show by Inarritu (whose upcoming Birdman will probably be a masterpiece judging by the early praise/trailers): It's must-see TV. Good for Starz, it might win them some awards.

It's funny because Ed Harris never does TV series* and yesterday he was cast in HBO's Westworld, and today in this! I won't complain, I love that actor.

According to Imdb, Ed Harris' last proper appearance in a TV series was a guest spot in American Playhouse in 1984 - then he had an uncredited appearance in a miniseries called The Stand in 1994 and his voice could be heard in Frasier in 1996, but other than that and a couple TV movies, including the great Game Change, nothing. I'm looking forward to both Westworld and The 1% then.

  3. Ed Harris is the only this that makes this even the slightest bit exciting

  4. Hmmm. I wonder what this means for his character on Westworld? Maybe he's shorter lived after all? When is this suppose to air?
