The Bridge - Harvest of Souls - Review

Previously on The Bridge - The DEA is Frye's source, Eva makes a statement, Marco chooses to leave David Tate to rot away in prison, Prosector Pintado is in a lot of danger, Sonya took Jim's ashes, and Jack is as interested in his brother's drawings as Sonya is.

Jack & Sonya:

Most of the time when a dramatic show spends a lot of time on a romantic storyline, I role my eyes faster than I press the fast forward button (not much faster though). In the case of The Bridge, the writers have found a way to incorporate Sonya's struggles in her personal life with a super interesting storyline. Not only was I pleased with the way that Sonya's Asperger's was displayed against her wishes to have a regular romantic relationship, I loved the way that they quietly introduced that Jack Dobbs was investigating his brother's victims. While revealing the fact that Jim did indeed have other victims, a new set of questions have been introduced to viewers. Will Jack fill Sonya in on the murders? Does Jack know something that Sonya doesn't? Did Jack play a part in any of his brother's killings?

Prosecutor Pintado:

When this season started off Prosecutor Pintado was a character whose scenes honestly bored me. He was just a bureaucrat that Marco was supposed to deal with and for some reason he was getting quite a bit of screen time. As his role progressed through the season though, I found myself no longer annoyed by him. I actually liked him. He tried to fight for what was right and, unfortunately, he paid the ultimate price for it. Prosecutor Pintado's final scenes were wonderfully portrayed and his death was extremely gruesome (in The Bridge fashion). The fact that Pintado's killers were able to reach his own private security detail speaks wonders about the resources of the corrupt police in Chihuahua.

Frye & Adriana:

Frye and Adriana's scenes were arguably the best of the episode. Frye's tantrum in his office, while destructive and a little sad to watch, was absolutely hilarious. While we often like to immerse ourselves in TV and pretend it's real, there are often times when scenes like that allow viewers to just sit back and have a laugh. During my interview with Matthew Lillard this week, he revealed that Daniel Frye is on track for a disastrous fall (not literally off a bridge this time). This scene, for the time being, would seem to signal the end of Daniel Frye's professional career and two new arcs. One that is sure to be entertaining, yet tragic and possibly one that sees Adriana on her own.

Eva & Linder:

In this week's edition of "I Saw That Coming", Eva found the prisoner that Linder had been holding in a shed for the last few weeks. In this week's edition of "I Totally Did NOT See That Coming", Eva killed the man! The Bridge continues to find ways to surprise viewers with unexpected, but completely reasonable human responses. As I predicted, Linder has been vindicated by Prosecutor Pintado's murder and is thus Eva's knight in shining armor (or at least he likes to think so). Whether Eva will become aware of Marco & Sonya's discovery at the end of the episode is yet to be seen. If I had to guess, I would say she spends quite a bit of time with Linder's form of justice before she realizes that it was all for nothing. This story is especially slow moving, but when huge plot movements like this happen, it makes it even more entertaining

Rating: 9.6/10 - The Bridge has another A this season! Not only did this episode provide ample amounts of drama, humor, and action, but it also moved the plot along at an excellent pace!
