In what is believed to be the biggest subscription video-on-demand deal for a TV series, I’ve learned that Netflix has acquired the rights to hit NBC drama The Blacklist from Sony Pictures TV in a deal that will net $2 million per episode. I hear Season 1 of the series starring James Spader will debut on the streaming service next weekend. As for future seasons, Netflix usually makes them available shortly after the season finales.

holy molly that's an awful lot of money
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDamn. That's top-dollar syndication money.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone wondering why X show isn't on Netflix...This is usually why.
ReplyDeleteConsidering how well it went on Live+7 DVR, it's actually understandable.
ReplyDeleteGood lord....now THIS is what I call lucrative syndication :O
ReplyDeleteThis show will be around for quite some time I guess
Nice going Blacklist and Sony!
ReplyDeleteTNT bought the rights to Hawaii Five-0 for a little over $2 Million an episode. Not a good investment for TNT.
ReplyDeleteYay! I have this show at the top of my watchlist, but was a little annoyed that Netflix didn't get it. Glad they will be!
ReplyDeletenow if they simulcast season 2 same time, we have a winner, I can watch it again while I am in bed.
ReplyDeleteWishful thinking but no they won't. S2 will air a few weeks after the season ends....which still isn't a bad deal..
