Teen Wolf - Perishable - Review/recap
Aug 25, 2014
MC Reviews Teen WolfWith the new episode of Teen Wolf coming a night earlier I thought I’d give a short recap and review of the previous episode “Perishable”. This episode was directed by Jennifer Lynch and written by Eric Wallace, and was viewed by 1.48 million people in the US.
So just a quick recap of the episodes events, we find out that Deputy Jordan Parrish has supernatural powers, however, we do not find out what he is and we learn he had no idea of these powers. Deputy Haigh who we have seen around the Sheriff station got a hold of the dead pool list and took it to himself to find and kill Parrish by lighting his car on fire; however, Parrish does not die and appears to have risen from his ashes. I’m thinking maybe that he is a phoenix you know rising from ashes and all.
Liam is having nightmares about fighting the berserker and while trying to sleep his printer starts printing multiple sheets of the dead-pool, he doesn’t understand why this is happening and pulls the plug from his computer, we letter learn that even the Coaches printer is printing the same thing. I guess we know how everyone is getting the list and anyone is trying to kill them. Also Liam prize money has changed now he is worth 18 million dollars dead.
Lydia is trying to crack the code her grandmother left her, eventually cracks it with 'Ariel' because when she was young that is the only word she said for ages, it used to drive her parents mad but her grandmother thought it was adorable. With the crack code it reveals a list of names that all appear to be suicides at Eichen house.
While Stiles and Lydia are doing this, Scott, Kira and Liam are getting attacked by Deputy Haigh's help men, they weaken them and make it feel like they are drunk. Eventually whilst almost killing them, Derek and Braeden come to their rescue and let me tell you they make a GOOD team.
While trying to do this, Lydia tells a story of the past with her grandmother with people thinking she is crazy and they end up bringing Meredith in to help her grandmother, but in fact they ended up driving Meredith mad. Lydia feels guilty for this because her grandmother drove Meredith crazy and Lydia drove her to suicide.
What I thought was really weird with this was that it was show in the past with Lydia grandmother being young but Meredith was shown the same age. I'm not sure if this was done to show that it was Meredith or there is a reason behind this because personally I thought it was weird and confusing.
Lydia and Stiles end go going to Eichen house to get answers and try bribe the psycho doctor Brunski to get into the records room. Brunski accepts the bride but then he grabs a tape, which is the same tape that the benefactor has been using. Brunski then electrocutes both of both and ties them up. Before Brunski tries to kill he plays a tape of him killing Lydia grandmother. Parrish comes just in time to shoot and kill Brunski and as he is dying he tells them he is not the benefactor.
Meredith, who is meant to be dead, comes out of the shadows and says he wasn't on my list. She is the benefactor. Meredith appears to want to kill all the supernatural creatures in a way to get her revenge; I'm not sure if there will be more on why she is actually doing it but I really hope so.
Altogether I thought this was a quite well written episode and keep you questioning who the benefactor was I was actually thinking it was Brunski right up until the moment Parrish shot him and killed it. It seemed way too easy.
Even though it was very painful to watch Stiles and Lydia tied up and almost getting killed by Brunski, I really like the scenes between Stiles and Lydia. I like the way they work together on scene and of course I just love everything Dylan O'Brien does on scene.
Even when he continues to try and help Lydia after been punched in the face, he is always thinking about Lydia rather than what Brunski will do to him. Even though I do like Malia and Stiles together now, I think Stiles should end up with Lydia.
Anyways this was a super short recap/review and I look forward to watching the new episode even though it has already been aired. Have you watched the new episode?
Post below what you thought about the last two episodes :D
I thought the last few were great. I loved the Brunski angel of death scenes. Really enjoyed the Parrish opening (Teen Wolf has some of the best cold opens on TV), the hinting of what he is. Same with Monstrous, I loved the way they handled the Benefactor reveal, the Peter scenes and development have been fantastic, same with Derek's losing his powers story and the Lydia and Meredith stuff. Even the handling of Malia and Stiles and their characters. But I especially like the slowly developing will Scott become a monster story. That is what I love about Teen Wolf it's character work.
