SpoilerTV Cancellation Predictor Table 2014/15

May 21, 2015

Welcome to this years SpoilerTV Cancellation Predictor

Last year, each week, we updated our data (see the notes below about how we get our data) in order to see if we could predict which show(s) would be renewed or cancelled. As you can see from last years summary, we did pretty well. We're hoping this year to make it even more accurate.

This index is by no means a 100% accurate guide about if your show is safe or in danger and should be seen as a bit of FUN.

NOTE: Until we have at least 3-4 weeks of data for each show that this table is not going to be very accurate and it will vary a lot each update. We'll try to update the full Cancellation Table every couple of days as we get new data in.

Last Updated: 21st May 2015 - Includes Final numbers up to and including 20th May 2015.

Recent Main changes

Can't see the table? Check out our Troubleshooting Guide
Understanding the Table - Please Read
1) The Higher the Index Rating number the more likely a show is to get cancelled, lower numbers = safety.
2) This is an ongoing exercise that I hope to refine each week to make the index more accurate.
3) Only the major networks are included currently ie ABC/FOX/CW/CBS/NBC. And only for the main TV Season ie we don't cover Summer Shows.
4) This chart is a prediction of all the shows using our own formula based on the viewing numbers, 18-49, and + 7 Numbers. These 3 factors are the main weighting of the Index number, however we also factor in things such as the Network they are on (eg CW shows get lower numbers), the day of week they air (eg Fridays are lower numbers), DVR Numbers and +7 and +3 numbers,DVD/Blu-Ray Sales,Production Costs, Cast Contracts/Availability, Syndication, online popularity such as streamed views and Torrents, Nielsen Online Ratings etc.
5) Shows still might not get renewed despite good numbers due eg a show coming to an end of run eg Parenthood is in it's final season no matter what the ratings are etc or could be due to key cast wanting to leave after their contracts have expired. An example might be Supernatural if it’s two leads, Jared and Jensen wanted out, would Supernatural be renewed even if it had good numbers but no leads for the new season? etc
6) Remember Ratings are relative to ratings for other shows on the same network.
7) Shows that have been renewed for a New Season are marked in Blue
8) Shows with an Index over 2.70 are likely to be cancelled, 2.40-2.70 - in danger and less that 2.40 safe. Although shows nearer 2.40 are more in danger than a show with a lower index.
9) You can access this page via either the Start or Features Menu above or simply by Bookmarking it.

  1. One of my favourite sections of the site each year! Table looks so clean and fresh before the mayhem!

    ReplyDelete
  2. Hi, I just noticed that The Strain, American Horror Story and Under The Dome were missing on your list. Just wanted to let you know ;)

    ReplyDelete
  3. Lost so many shows the past season, this season there is hardly anything on my Fall watchlist from the main networks. So really the shows I'm rooting for are AoS, B99, Good Wife, Revenge, Elementary and Sleepy Hollow. Kind of scared to fall in love with any comedies as they keep getting axed.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Hi @Jessica The Strain and AHS are on Cable, not Broadcast :)

Also, Under the Dome is a Summer show, we only track the main TV season Sept-May etc.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I'm sorry, I didn't know. Thanks for correcting me :)

    ReplyDelete
  6. Hey no worries at all ;)

If you read the notes under the table you can see how the table is constructed etc.

    ReplyDelete
  7. This is always great fun.

    ReplyDelete
  8. This is one of my favourite feature of this site.

    ReplyDelete
  9. Love this section.

    ReplyDelete
  10. What about Dominion? It's not on the last list, because it came out to late. I would really like your opinion, on its chances. Continuum's chances as well.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Please read item 3 in the notes ;)

    ReplyDelete
  12. Thanks. One day, i'm going to get myself into trouble, by skipping the small print. :)

Do you personally think, that either show will be renewed? If you don't want to set a precedent, i'll understand.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Ha ;) It's almost impossible to tell for syfy if you just look at the raw ratings numbers. There are so many other factors involved.

If I was a betting man.

I'd say Continuum will get a 4th and final season, and Dominion would be cancelled. But that's just me going on gut instinct.

    ReplyDelete
  14. The Mentalist is final season, as confirmed by both Bruno Heller and Robin Tunney. That's all the confirmation I need.

    ReplyDelete
  15. The Following will have produced only 45 episodes by season's end, isn't syndication around 80 episodes? It'll need at least three more seasons to get to that number...
Once Upon a Time and Revenge on the other hand will have produced more than 80 episodes come May.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Yes, sorry. That was my mistake doing some copy/paste :)

    ReplyDelete
  17. I hope you're wrong about Dominion. But i'm so invested in Continuum, that if it comes to a choice, i'd rather have the latter.

    ReplyDelete
  18. You got a tweet or article link for that?

    ReplyDelete
  19. What does it mean the section "close to sindication"?

    ReplyDelete
  20. Right now it's the likely speculation. Bruno Heller only said that season 7 is an "encore" season. Most likely it is the final season, but has yet to be officially confirmed.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Emerald City should be marked as cancelled.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It essentially means that the show is close to being sold to another network to air reruns, usually that happens at about the 88th episode of said show.

    ReplyDelete
  23. It is most likely the final season for The Mentalist but it has not been officially confirmed yet so we still hope for more episodes or another season (I can´t help it, even if my mind says no) :)
But no matter what...I am simply happy to still see my favorite show on this list after all what happened in the last season and with all the rumors about the cancellation after season 6.

    ReplyDelete
  24. And here we go again! Isn't it exciting?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Would you consider doing a table for cable shows? I know it's probably more difficult but I would love it!

    ReplyDelete
  26. It simply makes no sense to do one for cable. The ratings importance are different for each cable station and the numbers tend to be so low that it's impossible to predict. Also the cable networks put less emphasis on ratings than the broadcast networks. Only 2-3 shows would be in the Predicted to be renewed section eg Walking Dead, Game of Thrones etc. Everything else would be unknown.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Dear SpoilerTV team
Is it possible if someone could make a Cancellation Prediction Table for Summer shows?

    ReplyDelete
  28. There are so few shows on Broadcast that it just doesn't make sense. The networks have vastly different expectations during the summer that make it impossible to predict.

The only shows in the table would be Extant, Unforgettable, Under the Dome, Reckless, Crossbones and Mistresses.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Robin Tunney mentioned it in an interview at the 2014 TCA after party:) I can't post yi right now, but you can find it on YouTube.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree. There is no point for cable. But maybe a table for Summer-season? I just love this so much. Haha. Nice to see this fresh the table. It will get so messy in a couple of weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  31. red band society has started

    ReplyDelete
  32. And we are back! Bring on the main season!

    ReplyDelete
  33. When are you going to update it? Red Band Society and The Mysteries of Laura has started.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yep, no point in updating until more shows have aired their premiere and/or pilot episodes.

    ReplyDelete
  35. The list look longer than last seasons

    ReplyDelete
  36. :) Let hope we don't disappoint you this season ;)

    ReplyDelete
  37. I love and hate this at the same time...

    ReplyDelete
  38. The Good Wife is going to make us suffer this year

    what about the night shift

    ReplyDelete
  40. The Night Shift is a summer show and has been renewed for a second season.

    ReplyDelete
  41. First updates! Can't wait to see this table fill up over the next few weeks!

  43. TGW is safe because: 1) it is a quality program in CBS' eye; 2) a strong female lead (rare on CBS); 3) a lucrative streaming after-market deal; and 4) they will announce a 'final' season so they can amp it up. I don't envision CBS treating TGW like an aging procedural. If it really suffers, I guarantee a new timeslot, but CBS knows it's against SNF, TWD, FG, Resurrection (who knows if that will continue it's steep slide or stabilize), etc., which isn't easy in fall. This show will get a lot of leeway.

    ReplyDelete
  44. can someone explain when it was officially decided that Season-7 Of "The Mentalist" was going to be The Last? I can't find anything about it

    ReplyDelete
  45. Tim Kang (Cho) confirmed it on his Twitter account a week or two ago.

    https://twitter.com/Tim__Kang

    ReplyDelete
  46. First the Cancellation Bear showed up in my Twitter feed and now Cancellation Table has received it's first index update - WHOOP WHOOP! THE FALL SEASON IS FINALLY HERE!!!

    ReplyDelete
  47. It's 103 shows this season and 93 last season on this list right?

    ReplyDelete
  48. Oh no Mindy =(. If it drops under a 1.0 next week it will be gone soon

    ReplyDelete
  49. I wouldn't be surprised if FOX exhumed Hieroglyph now...

    ReplyDelete
  50. Something news season 4 from Dallas?

    ReplyDelete
  51. Dallas is a cable show, this is just for the Broadcast networks.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Bruno Heller said specifically "last season" in his last interview which was mainly about "Gotham", but had also some informations about TM (http://www.assignmentx.com/2014/gotham-creator-bruno-heller-talks-young-batman-exclusive-interview/). Plus: Tim Kang ("Cho") has twittered that it's the final season, too. I honestly don't think that all of these people would clearly state "last season" if they weren't sure. And we pretty much know that CBS rarely announces last seasons, so I have no doubt. By the way: season 8 would bring the dreaded contract negotiations with Baker and Tunney, and we already had confirmation by staff writer Jordan Harper that season seven will have only 13 episodes... I think it's safe to say "final season".

    ReplyDelete
  53. It's good; but nobody's watching.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Taxi Brooklyn, Night Shift, Unforgettable....

    ReplyDelete
  55. Still makes no sense with so few shows

    ReplyDelete
  56. I doubt The Good Wife is in danger despite it's low ratings. Keeps coming back.

    ReplyDelete
  57. Pretty sure this is the last season for "The Following" as well

    ReplyDelete
  58. Bit sad to see 5-O in the yellow already. I really hope things can get better soon with the ratings.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Very early days. We need 3-4 weeks of data for each show plus more shows airing.

    ReplyDelete
  60. I know there have only been two episodes so far, but I'm glad to see Forever in the looking safe category. I hope it stays that way. I am totally hooked on that show after already.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I get that...but a list with the Cable shows, containing some rundown which are in their final season paired with an educated guess and an update when one of them got cancelled might be nice. Cable shows are constantly marginalized because the other Networks usually get more buzz. It would be great if they got a little bit more attention overall. Currently I have to look elsewhere to figure out how well a cable show does compared to other shows the same Network offers.

    ReplyDelete
  62. noooo Hawaii 5-0 - but we still have time - i hope soon we will be in green light!!

    ReplyDelete
  63. You can see a full list of both Network and Cable Shows current status here

    http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/09/the-complete-spoilertv-20142015-tv.html

You can see the ratings for all shows in the ratings database and compare them with any show/season both 18-49 and Total Viewers.

As for educated guesses. We have absolutely no idea. The pure ratings simply don't give us the info.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Great...is that new? I didn't see that before.
It would make more sense to sort the list by network instead of alphabetically, though. Then it would be possible to see with one look how many shows are in the program, how many will or might end soon aso.

    ReplyDelete
  65. We've had it just over a year. It's listed in both the menu and the quick access sections.

Most people prefer it alphabetically as it's easier to find their show. You could copy the text from the spreadsheet and make your own and then you can sort it how you like etc.

    ReplyDelete
  66. My very early snappy judgments:
    - In big danger: Red Band Society, The Mysteries of Laura, Madam Secretary,

    - Not totally safe (broad, I know): Revenge ,Nashville, The Mindy Project, Forever, CSI
    - Could go in the previous category but I don't really think so: The Good Wife, H50, Blue Bloods
    - Old category makes it harder to know: Bones, SVU

    - Everything else: As safe as it gets

    ReplyDelete
  67. how can Nashville not be safe with syndication on the way?

    ReplyDelete
  68. In my opinion, syndication is not an absolute "cure-all" type of phenomenon. I see it more as a boost, a powerful one, that it gives shows.

For instance: if a show is at, say, 75% of a network's average, that's usually a bubble show. But if it is approaching syndication, those 75% easily become something more comparable with 105% or something like that! So the show will be very safe!

However... if you have a show that is performing, say, at 20% of the network's average, even with a very generous syndication boost that wouldn't be more than 50-60% comparable wise. To me, this show would be cancelled.

Now, Nashville is still performing at 60%, so syndication should be enough to do the trick, but if it falls more than the rest of the pack come spring (admittedly not very likely considering the other stuff should come down from the inflated premieres) , it could ugly up to a point in which syndication won't cut it.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I'd say its looking safe right now, I'd reserve in danger for later. If Nashville starts doing sub 1s then I'm ready to consider it in danger, but as of right now the show is not going anywhere

    ReplyDelete
  70. With Forever and (sight...) MAOS horrible showings, I am more inclined to agree.

    ReplyDelete
  71. JM signed a major production deal with CBS yesterday, I'm guessing that TGW is safe for S7. (Not that I have much doubt.) MS gets until the end of October - CBS will have enough data based on NFL-fueled line-up and regular schedule. If it keeps pulling 1.4s, it will be yanked with TAR returning to it's home.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I sincerely doubt TAR in on CBS schedule come spring. If Madam Secretary is yanked, they will probably simply do The Good Wife/ CSI/ The Mentalist and call it a day.

I think CBS would be wise to save TAR for summer for a companion show to big brother which seems to have trouble being a lead-in for the old skewing dramas anyway. I would do Big Brother | TAR | Unforgettable in the summer.

    ReplyDelete
  73. And....we have the first entries into the red zone for this TV season!

    ReplyDelete
  74. Don't see TAR being a summer show, at least not for next summer. CBS is shooting the 2015 season in May-June, per the TAR casting site.

    ReplyDelete
  75. It used to be one so I don't think it's inconceivable that it goes back to being one. Big Brother usually premieres in July only so there would be time to shoot it in the months you refer.

    ReplyDelete
  76. 3 of 4 Shows i watch are in the yellow and red terrain :(

    ReplyDelete
  77. HF-0 and Blue Bloods had the same demographic in the final numbers, so why is HF-0 more in danger of cancellation than BB? Anyway, it's ridiculous to make such pronouncements after one episode.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Did you read any of the article

    ReplyDelete
  79. I just hope AOS increases its become way to good for it to just get cancelled this season
Wow new girl is now in danger not surprised.
Isn't grade point just for 1 season I don't think they will cancel it probably burn it in Christmas if it goes lower

    ReplyDelete
  80. Oh its sad to see Reign up there. I hope that their ratings get higher. And glad to see Sleepy Hollow is safe.

    ReplyDelete
  81. In the Color Codes, the Renewed for another Season should be blue, right?

    ReplyDelete
  82. Hey @Sophia Yes :) I'll get that fixed now., I must have set it wrong this morning when I did the update.

    Thanks for spotting

    ReplyDelete
  83. Could you please include a few popular Canadian shows, heartland (8 seasons on CBC) and Orphan Black (2 Seasons)

    ReplyDelete
  84. It makes no sense, sorry. We don't get ratings info on Canadian shows and have no idea what their ratings thresholds are. It would not make sense to include them in a USA based system.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Hi Dark ! CSI is not doing very good since it has been moved from Wednesday to Sunday... Do you think CBS could change it on another timeslot this season ? I mean it has a lot of potential after 15 seasons, that's kinda sad to see it being down on one of the worst timeslot of the week...

    ReplyDelete
  86. I guess they could. All depends how other shows do. CBS don't really move shows much once they have started a season.

    ReplyDelete
  87. Is gotham in danger of being cancelled? I love this show, it is my favourite right now. Is it going to be a full season or it wasnt anounced yet?

    ReplyDelete
  88. Hi, You should be able to see its position in the table. Are you not able to see the table?

    ReplyDelete
  89. Alot of FOX shows aren't doing so well this years, three of them immediately went right into the red zone.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Hoping that New Girl picks up...

    ReplyDelete
  91. Thank you for this table. Will follow with interest.

    ReplyDelete
  92. Our pleasure, hope you find it useful.

    ReplyDelete
  93. My very uneducated guess (since the season is still very young and especially because I have a very hard time predicting anything FOX related this year due to the mess they've become) is that it comes back based on 18-34 strength but it probably gets a bottom of the hour placement instead of anchoring an hour.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I can't see Bob's Burgers on the list. Is that because of its weird time slot?

    ReplyDelete
  95. Yep, it airs outside of primetime normally.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Thanks!
Should it be moved later on to replace Mulaney, would its previous ratings be considered in the index?

    ReplyDelete
  97. They would be reported in daily ratings tables but it would be too late to include them into our various tables such as these.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Allright, it seems reasonable. Thank you for the clear explanation!

    ReplyDelete
  99. We do include it in our Show Status Report here http://www.spoilertv.com/2013/09/the-complete-spoilertv-20142015-tv.html

    ReplyDelete
  100. I'm bookmarking this and keeping my fingers crossed for my shows to stay green. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  101. The only show I care about is Supernatural, the best show out of all of them, want to see it run another ten years.

    ReplyDelete
  102. They could remove all the Reality shows, that would be great.

    ReplyDelete
  103. They'll never do that, reality shows, as much as they suck, make the networks the most money.

    ReplyDelete
  104. Huh, well this will be a bitch to recalculate when we get the revised Nielsen numbers....

Kidding, kinda....the adjustments are likely to be very small but I wonder if it would have an impact on the predictions even this early in the season?

    ReplyDelete
  105. Ha yes, it will be a bit of pain lol Should not take us too long as I suspect the adjustments will be small and all relative :)

    ReplyDelete
  106. In a way I hope the adjustments are significant - the only way we are going to get a better system to replace Nielsen is if they make a mistake large enough for the advertisers to demand it....unfortunately, don't think this is going to be it!

    ReplyDelete
  107. Honestly, if you look at the renewals of UTD & Extant, there are so many other factors networks take into account - it's more than Nielsen. In the above cases, it was Amazon Prime's $900K per episode for each show that helped make them profitable for CBS. Streaming revenue deals will become a bigger factor while L+SD/C3, while important, won't be the only benchmark.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Agreed - I too believe that is the direction we are moving to - not only streaming deals, but L+3 and online viewing numbers being factored in as well. It just feels like we are getting there at a snails pace though....a giant screw up by Nielsen could be the kick in the pants needed for the industry to lend some urgency to a revised system.

    ReplyDelete
  109. Why is Bob's Burgers not on the chart?

    ReplyDelete
  110. It airs outside of primetime hours.

    ReplyDelete
  111. I hate reality shows, they suck, boring, and all the same, I don't waste my time watching any of them.

    ReplyDelete
  112. I'm actually a little sad about "A to Z". I think it's one of the few new shows that are worth this season. I hope it gets renewed.

    ReplyDelete
  113. Not happy about The Mindy Project being in "red"… I'm hoping for a miracle.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I was about to post the same thing. It's the only new comedy that I'm watching, it's cure and funny and, unlike most other options, it has soul.

    ReplyDelete
  115. I'm a little sad about Gracepoint too now. But at least we have Broadchurch S02 coming.

    ReplyDelete
  116. The Amazing Race is the only reality show I bother watching.`

    ReplyDelete
  117. I don't know what that is, because I don't watch any, but I will not pay high cable bills anymore, who can afford it with the way things are going today.

    ReplyDelete
  118. Why Bones is higher up on the table than TVD if TVD has gotten lower ratings for both of its epsodes than Bones has for its 3? Is it just because of it's on the CW? I know they're both "safe" at the moment; I'm just curious.

    ReplyDelete
  119. so in other words FOX isn't doing so well this season, and CBS might cancel H5O, I really hope they give it a wrap up season, or just make this one last since there's still time to notify production.

    ReplyDelete
  120. I think it's because TVD is pulling decent ratings and Demo by CW standards, plus they are in talks to renew it for an early seventh season; so this might be it, or am just wrong :p

    ReplyDelete
  121. They are different networks so you can't compare ratings like that. CW has a much lower average so the ratings don't need to be so high to have a good score etc.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Yeah, I thought it had to do with it being on the CW. But thanks. :)

    ReplyDelete
  123. Yeah, that's what I thought. And I think they are in talks for another season, if I remember correctly. Oh, and what did you mean by "...an early seventh season; so this might be it..."? Sorry, but I'm a bit confused.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I just know that one of the leads isn't too keen on renewing his/her contract for additional seasons, so the network may try to convince them seeing TVD did well for its premiere. they could order additional season this fall, like they did with TO last year, but who knows?

    ReplyDelete
  125. I thought that's what you were getting at, but the wording threw me.

    ReplyDelete
  126. Hi.. New Girl don't have "the" in front of it. Isn't "The New Girl". At least is how I know the show :l sorry if i'm mistaken.

    ReplyDelete
  127. Any word on The Bridge or Continuum?

    ReplyDelete
  128. @Andy,

Technically, Scandal will also be close to syndication at season's end. Not that it needs it or anything to be renewed more than comfortably, but it should still be on the list. It will have 70 episodes at season's end (which is pretty close to the 66 most shows have at the end of their full third seasons, or even the same when they have 24 eps seasons)

    ReplyDelete
  129. One of the few original ideas for a drama, and it gets the worst ratings... sad indeed.

    ReplyDelete
  130. It's always been just "New Girl", but sometimes sites add "the" in front of it just for the kicks

    ReplyDelete
  131. Yep :)

When the show was first in development it was called "The New Girl". This is what we went with when we setup our databases, sites, RSS feeds, links etc. FOX later dropped the "The" and it was too much work in those days to rename and recode everything.

    ReplyDelete
  132. I completely don't get why Red Band Society is in danger...

    ReplyDelete
  133. Because it's ratings have been terrible.

    ReplyDelete
  134. That i can see but i don't get why because it's an awesome show I mean seriously when I first heard that it will be show about sick kids I was skeptical and now I relly love it it's extraordinary and not sad.

  135. This chart does not show how good or bad a show is, just what it's chances are of Renewal/Cancellation. Many great shows have been cancelled in the past whilst other bad shows have been renewed. It's just the way of the world unfortunately.

  136. I know, I know :(

  138. No sorry. Those aren't covered here as they are Cable shows.

    ReplyDelete
  139. Just curious why Utopia isn't listed on here? This show is awful but I can't stop watching. I'm hoping it gets word of cancellation, so I can pare it out.

  140. Hi,

We only cover scripted Drama and Comedies on SpoilerTV. We don't cover reality or competition shows.

Forever is in the danger zone ,Does that mean it is in danger of getting cancelled before the completion of 1st season or it will complete its season . I am asking because i saw an article about forever that abc has given order for additional script .Does that mean its gonna get axed.

    ReplyDelete
  143. All our table is able to try an predict is basically will it be renewed or not for another season. It's almost impossible to tell if a network will pull a show of the schedule before it's full completion.

    ReplyDelete
  144. Surprised that we've not had our first cancellation yet. In the past six seasons, the first cancellation has already happened by now.

    ReplyDelete
  145. FOX just became the new NBC.

    ReplyDelete
  146. I guess the networks are being a little more invested in this season's crop of shows.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Yep. I don't think it'll be long before we get it though.

    ReplyDelete
  148. Well technically we have had 3 ;)

    ReplyDelete
  149. Now you're just being picky ;)

Can't count shows that were so bad that they didn't even make it to air as first cancellations lol

    ReplyDelete
  150. LOL. The better question is, if they were that bad why were they ordered. And more worrying.. just how bad were the ones that were not ordered to series !

    ReplyDelete
  151. I guess we'll never know ;)

    ReplyDelete
  152. I think show's will start getting cancelled very soon since the mid-season lineups will be getting announced within the next few weeks.

    ReplyDelete
  153. It makes me happy, but, at the same time, a bit sad that Bones is now below Sleepy Hollow.

    ReplyDelete
  154. Or 4 if that Mulany announcement means what I think it does.

    ReplyDelete
  155. Yep, that pretty much means that it won't be seeing a second season

    ReplyDelete
  156. IKR. Last year, 4 shows had been pulled by now.

    ReplyDelete
  157. Might as well add HoD as final season, the stars all but confirmed it when the production wrapped last week, despite what CW says.

    ReplyDelete
  158. Its the first show on the "looking safe" list : )

    ReplyDelete
  159. Sidereel says Madam Secretary is in danger !!! i hope they lie ... they also have all these other shows that are not on here.. not that it matters since i don't know or watch them. But I like your list better since it gives Madam Secretary some hope !!

    ReplyDelete
  160. Thanks. Out of interest, what does sidereel base it's calculations on?

    ReplyDelete
  161. Not sure. This is their cancellation thingy and it doesn't say anything what they base it on: http://www.sidereel.com/topic/cancellation-buzz

    ReplyDelete
  162. wondering cw might have a new head ache when to air zombie, hod and batb. the schedule is packed tight for the first time in cw. i smell summer .

    ReplyDelete
  163. Well actually the list for close to syndiction is way off everything on list is NOT close to syndication; they are all at 65 to 72 episodes , with Elemenary being the closest at 72 eps..For syndication its 88 episodes & most preferably 100.. Person of Interest will be there at the end of this season. Hawaii 5-O will have 100 in 2 weeks

    ReplyDelete
  164. I hope forever doesn't get cancelled, good show with a unique twist to it. Also AOS is nailing it this year massive improvement over last season.

    ReplyDelete
  165. There's only two I remotely care about in the "Likely" category.... Red Band Society (wouldn't be broken up if it went but it's not bad) and Selfie (this was way better than I expected and kinda growing on me).

In the "Danger" category there's a few more that I really would miss (Blue Bloods, Hawaii 5-0) and some that started weak but have been getting better (Forever, Bad Judge).

I'm surprised how high the index is on several shows are in the "Looking Safe" category too... over shows I'm surprised aren't cancelled already.

    ReplyDelete
  166. The table will likely change a lot.

There are still 40 shows that have not aired yet,and most shows have not aired 4 episodes yet, which is the minimum to get a stable index number.

So expect things to change a bit depending on how well or poorly the unaired shows do.

    ReplyDelete
  167. Well good to see AOS still in green but if any of the mid season shows become e a hit its in huge trouble dangit shield!! Just stay above 1.6 will ya, I do believe if agent carter becomes a sleeper hit shield might actually get a lot of interested viewers but that's just a theory.

    ReplyDelete
  168. It pains me to see The 100 in the danger category. Madam Secretary and Stalker have the same index number. I am really curious if either or both of them will get a back-nine order, and if so, which one(s).

    ReplyDelete
  169. I agree that the Madam-Stalker situation is very intriguing. But this is what I think is more likely out of the 4 options:
    1) Madam gets a back order and Stalker doesn't.
    2) Stalker gets a back order and Madam doesn't
    3) Both get a backorder
    4) Neither gets a backorder

But it's a very tight race.

And I absolutely hate seeing The 100 in there.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I am hoping a decision is coming soon. CBS can't wait much longer. I think option 3 is unlikely, because they still have The Mentalist and Battle Creek for midseason. Option 4 is possible, but I consider options 1 or 2 more likely. In terms of demo, Stalker has a slight edge and in terms of total audience, Madam Secretary nearly doubles Stalker's total viewers. Also, Stalker could have done much better especially with the most compatible lead-in the show can have.

    ReplyDelete
  171. I was just going to write how sad it makes me to see "The 100" in the yellow danger category! Really hope the ratings pick up because this chart is seldom wrong!

    ReplyDelete
  172. I hope the ratings rise too! Let's just blame the World Series for the low numbers, next week it should go up!

    ReplyDelete
  173. you asked me somewhere if I knew sidereel's methodology ... i do not..i looked but could not find anything; I also think its great that you respond as much as u do !

    ReplyDelete
  174. what does it mean by close to syndication?

    ReplyDelete
  175. you asked how does sidereel populate its table .. i dont know, i looked for a methodology and didnt find one..also great work responding to ppl !!

    ReplyDelete
  176. can you help put heartland on the radar. It is a great canadian family show, it currently airs on uptv in the US. It is my understanding that it is not on a major network because cbc wanted to have control over all aspects of the show you lose that by signing up with big network america....a few other good / popular ones are rookie blue and orphan black ..

    ReplyDelete
  177. whats syndication .. i am sorry if i am repeating my questions, I see them posted and then they disappear so I am a bit confused.

Its fine. It is very confusing now. It means a show (take TBBT for example) airs on a cable channel such as USA. This is just for network shows BTW, not cable shows such as GOT or TWD. A network show needs 88 eps (4 full seasons) for syndication. As stated above, Nashville is in season 3 meaning it will have 66 eps by the end of May. It needs one more full season to get 88. This can then be sold to cable networks and this is where the big cash cow comes in. This is how Friends still makes millions a decade after it ended. This is why you see networks drag shows with awful ratings. They will get their money back with syndication.
    Hope that helps! :D
