Scene Of The Week - August 24, 2014 - POLL

A weekly feature in which we're trying to find the most compelling, best acted, written, directed and just generally great scenes that we've seen recently on TV.

DOCTOR WHO, "Deep Breath", August 23, 2014, Actors: Matt Smith, Jenna Coleman, Peter Capaldi, The Scene: The phone call
Justyna Kubica:
This one was certainly a great surprise. I didn't expect to see Eleven again and definitely not so soon. But it was exactly what Clara (and I think, the viewers) needed at the moment. And not just to say goodbye, but to see, that even though there's another part of the Doctor that we're missing now, he's still there. Despite the changes, at his core, he's still the Doctor and he needs help, he needs someone to be there with him, like he always does. And in the end, after the call, Clara can finally look at him and really see her friend inside. Beautiful, emotional moment. More emotional than I anticipated but absolutely great. I'm really excited about this new season. Kudos to the cast for their brilliant performances. And... here we go again!
Sandi wich: The Eleventh Doctor calls Clara to tell her that he still needs her as the Twelfth.

MASTERS OF SEX, "Blackbird", August 17, 2014, Actors: Julianne Nicholson and more
The Scene: Lillian's death (picked by Michael Pantoustier)

SUITS, "This is Rome", August 20, 2014, Actors: Rick Hoffman, Gina Torres, The Scene: Louis finds out the truth about Mike
Justyna Kubica:
In what has to be the best acted moment of the week Louis finally finds out the truth about Mike. And his reaction says it all. How betrayed and hurt he feels, how angry, how vindictive and furious he is at the moment. Rick Hoffman's performance in the episode's final minutes is not only phenomenal but also absolutely spot on. It's exactly what could be expected from Louis, he doesn't hold back, completely shatters his previous relationships with both women and demands what he always wanted: “Pearson. Specter. Litt.” He's actually scary in the scene and it's truly sad to see his beautiful friendship with Donna (especially strong this season) suddenly destroyed in the wake of this deception. I admit, I'm both excited and nervous about what's gonna happen next but kudos to the cast and crew for their exceptional work in the episode!
Allyson Koerner: Louis discovers Mike never went to Harvard Law and confronts both Donna and Jessica about covering for him. Louis isn’t one to hold back on his feelings, and he definitely continued to ride that emotional train this week -- and rightfully so. From sadness to hurt to anger to revenge, Louis encompassed pretty much every emotion possible. By far, this was Rick Hoffman’s best Louis Litt performance from the entire series. Let’s give Hoffman a huge round of applause for his phenomenal performance. With that said, Louis said it best, “Pearson. Specter. Litt.”

TEEN WOLF, "Perishable", August 18, 2014, Actors: Holland Roden, Maya Eshet and more, The Scene: The Benefactor is revealed
Justyna Kubica:
I admit, it wasn't easy to pick a scene from this episode. I really enjoyed all the moments with Deputy Parrish, Lydia's family story and her scenes with Stiles but the ending is something I didn't see coming (at all!) so I felt like it needed some recognition here. To see someone, who wasn't even on the suspects list (for most fans, I think), being named the Big Bad everyone is looking for, doesn't really happen too often. Quite a twist. Though it seems like there's much more to the story than we realize and I'm really excited to find out the rest soon. For now, Meredith being the Benefactor still seems unbelievable. And the moment when we learn the truth, right after Lydia and Stiles are saved by everyone's favorite Deputy from one of my least favorite characters on the show Brunski (I couldn't stand this guy right from the beginning, nobody can attack Stiles like that), is great, unexpected and suspenseful. Kudos to the cast and crew for their work! New episode's tonight!

THE BRIDGE, "Lamia", August 20, 2014, Actors: Alyssa Diaz and more
The Scene: Lucy gets killed (picked by Sharon Seymour and DarkUFO)

THE LEFTOVERS, "Cairo", August 17, 2014, Actors: Ann Dowd, Justin Theroux
The Scenes: Patti kills herself in the cabin & Kevin finds his shirts in Cairo (picked by Sharon Seymour, Francesco B, DarkUFO and Michael Pantoustier)

THE LEGEND OF KORRA, "Venom of the Red Lotus", August 22, 2014, The Scene: The final scene
Pablozky21:
The close up of Korra's face in the end - There is so much awesomeness in this finale that it is really hard to choose a single scene; there is the death of P'Li, Bolin lava bending, Korra's hallucinations, Korra and Zaheer's fight, and yet I go with the last second of the episode, why is that? That's because of the emotional impact of seeing Korra so broken, shedding tears of true depression and frustration as she sees how the air nation bows to protect all nations and she can do nothing. For an episode that had all moments of "OH, SHIT!" and "This is awesome!" no moment is as emotionally affecting as this, ending the season in a very bitter sweet ending; the avatar is weaker than ever, the world needs her the most right now, and she is on a wheelchair, trying her best to recover, but suffering from a deep feel of helplessness and depression. And all that is captured in one single shot, when the tears go down Korra's cheek. So, how could I not choose this scene?

THE STRAIN, "Occultation", August 17, 2014, Actors: Kevin Durand and more
The Scene: Vasily comes face to face with the vampires in the sewage system (picked by DarkUFO)

WITCHES OF EAST END, "When a Mandragora Loves a Woman", August 17, 2014, Actor: Tom Lenk
The Scene: Hudson's death (picked by Francesco B)
