I thought they were going to end with the completion of the casket in the flashback, which would have been lame, but the real ending was freaking awesome. Was not expecting Mr. Quinlan to appear so soon!
decent ep... liked the extended flashbacks and loved getting to see Mr Quinlan make his entrance... though I think this was very different than the book... but it's been awhile
Yes, Mr. Quinlan is here............a bit early, but the series time table is clearly different from the book(s). Now the "War within the War" begins! Richard Sammel/Eichhorst and David Bradley/Setrakian scenes are stealing the show for me. The "mirror effect" was really cool and just like how it was described in the book(s), (No Spoilers). Is it just me or do the episodes seem 30 min. long instead of 45 min. long? 6 more episodes to go and I for one am looking forward to them. 4 A KILLER STRAIN, I am still Nobody!!!
Why does no one listen to warnings any more? It's getting really irritating, first it was Kelly, then in this episode it was Jim's wife and the sister of the nanny. Kelly's was the worst case, when your ex-husband is the chief medical officer for the CDC and he tells you that you are in grave danger and need to get out of the city, then you should probably do it. What did she think he was just making it up for fun?
I think those were the Headhunters. They're strigoi who work for the other six Masters. The Master who's trying to take over the world (the Big Bad of the series) is considered a renegade.
Wait a minute... there is more than one Master. I really need to read the book this show is based on. Is it called The Strain or does it have another name?
Besides the very awesome flashbacks and all the intensity of Eichorst's persecution and his confrontation with Setrakian (I thought he was vampy-food) at the station, the tip of the episode was that ending. What the worm was that guy??? (I see he's called Mr. Quinlan in the books by your comments, but still: Good vampires? Really??) Amazeballs ending to an amazing episode.
I also liked how Eichorst's appearance and strigoi characters seem older than the newer ones, in ep 3 with the bat-like face and the furry tongue this ep. Also: "I could drain you right now" will be a phrase to remember.
Hmmm... good point. Let's leave him at Hoodie vamp. I also thought it was weird this guys just appeared out of nowhere, so they might also be a part of the whole Palmer-Master conspiracy. The hell I know? Some sort of pro-vamp police force? Followed by keeping humans alive for food and sustain? This is getting verry good!
you saying 7 masters in total but one decided he didn't like what they were doing or living their life so he figured why not create your own army and take over the world?
Loved the episode, Eichorst, Setrakian, and the Ninja Vamps. I'm guessing they have a leader. I also agree each episode seems 30 minutes long. I go back and forth about my feeling for Eph. He can be an azz.
I could tell you, but then you would hate me for it. Consider it a real treat if you haven't read the books or the graphic novel for what's coming up in the next 6 episodes..............personally I'm looking forward to the season finale..............you won't believe how it ends! Nobody, 4 NOW!!!
I will finish watching this ep but the ep is currently making me absolutely nuts. I want to sub-title the first part "Land of the Stupid People" First the husband see scary crazy people lurking around outside of his home trying to attack him. He makes a wise decision...get back into the vehicle with windows and steel and drive away very very fast and the moron of a taxi driver stands there wanting to know what's going on. He finally gets in the cab but doesn't move. And when some one tries to break into the window HE GETS OUT. Even if that had been just a guy with, say a knife, that was an incredibly stupid thing to do. The wise nanny gets the children out the house but her daughter decides they must be returned. Okay fine. Understandable. They find a body and the nanny wants to get the kids to safety (she must argue.) At least move the children way from the trauma of seeing their father in that condition and go outside to call an ambulance. But okay...I'll give them that one. But WHEN THE WOMAN WITH THE GIANT EXTENDO TONGUE ATTACKS YOU YOU DO NOT TURN AROUND ASKING QUESTIONS!!! I had to change the channel. What I wanted to throw at the TV would have broken in. sigh.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeletedecent ep... liked the extended flashbacks and loved getting to see Mr Quinlan make his entrance... though I think this was very different than the book... but it's been awhile
ReplyDeleteThe last five minutes was completely badass ...i mean WOW... game changer
ReplyDeleteAt least one thing was very different....
ReplyDeleteAnother good episode. That ending was awesome and a game changer.
ReplyDeleteFor the non-readers, who/what was that guy and his group in the end? (spoilers)

ReplyDeleteFantastic episode! Probably the best one yet.

ReplyDeleteDo you know what is Mr. Quinlan purpose?

ReplyDeleteThe first book is called "The Strain." The second and third book are called "The Fall" and "The Night Eternal."
ReplyDeleteThis episode was amazing. I loved the flashbacks they were my favourite parts

For the folks who have said "Mr. Quinlan", doesn't the size of the person playing the role make you question that assumption?
ReplyDeleteYou can't really get into that without spoiling some things.
ReplyDeleteAssuming it is Mr. Quinlan(which I would not), you can't really get into "Good" without spoiling who he is and where he fits into the story.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... good point. Let's leave him at Hoodie vamp. I also thought it was weird this guys just appeared out of nowhere, so they might also be a part of the whole Palmer-Master conspiracy. ReplyDeleteThat's the thing. Without spoiling a bunch of stuff, there is more than one possibility when it comes to that group.
ReplyDeleteyou saying 7 masters in total but one decided he didn't like what they were doing or living their life so he figured why not create your own army and take over the world?

ReplyDeleteMust say the flashbacks were really powerful.
Oh my god, more badass strigois, I loved that ending, give me more !
ReplyDeleteBetween the show and those of you who have read the book..and post enigmatic comments like this.........I may be convinced to read the book.
ReplyDeleteAssuming the show is going in the same direction the books are, then Yes.
ReplyDeletewhy does that sound familiar? lol
