I find it weird that the miscarriage wasn't brought up at all. I understand we've already had a lot of sadness over Frost's death but don't just gloss over it like that. And aww at Angela being so worried about her.
I honestly thought they would mention the miscarriage. Jane seems so happy which makes me sad as a viewer. Too bad they didn't have at least one conversation more and Jane would at least feel bad about it. She was more interested in the detective files for an old case than what just happened to her.
I really hope she is just trying to lock her feelings away and that it will bei brought up again in the next episode(s). otherwise it wouldn't make much sense. No woman looses a child and just goes on with life as if nothing happened..at least that's what I think
When Angela said "You really love your job don't you?" I was fully expecting her to say something like 'you love if more than your baby' . Maybe there will be a moment later - well except that there are 2 eps left. I did love the turn around with Jane freaking out cause Angela was out dancing.
I enjoyed this episode. The cold case was interesting. I liked how Jane contributed to the case, even when restricted by her medical leave, to work. It further shows how her character loves her job so much, it's almost like a calling, and not just "work" to her. I also liked how the new main character helped with the case. That computer simulation was really cool. And her interactions with Maura were pretty natural as well. I think I'd like seeing more of her character, helping out with the cases. Jane's relationship with her mom is so great. I like how Jane, despite being mad at Angela for hiding her mail, gave her mom the chance to explain herself, and Jane was able to get past her anger to see that Angela's actions were out of love. I'm embarrassed to admit that I wish I could do that with my mom, instead of staying in the "anger" zone.
This is one of my favorite summer shows, with it's fun, light, "not overly dramatic" air. I like that the show never spends too much time dragging out the emotional devastation of any particular event.
Frost's absence is felt and mentioned, to not be forgotten, along with the appropriate moment of silence and sadness, but it's not dragged out throughout various scenes of the show. I don't think many people would want to watch multiple episodes that are like a wake.
The main characters were sad, a few times in the previous episode, about Jane's miscarriage, but maybe it's not in Jane's character to be too emotionally distraught over it, especially when Jane didn't treat her pregnancy as something "real", but mostly just thought of her work only. I totally get where she's coming from. Not everybody reacts to miscarriages the same, and frankly, I don't need this show to act like many other shows, by treating a miscarriage as a huge deal to the character, when, perhaps, it wasn't.

I had that feeling too about the miscarriage. I was suprised their wasn't any mention of it.
But It's a complicating subject to deal with. How are you suppose to feel about the loss of something you actually never had. Her belly was bearly showing off, too. She bearly had the time to comprehend the fact that she was going to be a mother that it was ripped away from her... It's certainly not easy to deal with. For the writer or Jane. But they choose to go there so it is weird it wasn't brought up.
The question is, will they bring that up in one of the next episode ?
Apart from that I really liked the episode. Between Angela's worries, Jane dress up like a flying attendant and the hilarious final scene with Jane and Maura waiting for Angela.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteGreat and sad episode!
