  1. That was just a riveting finale. High drama and then some. Pardon me while I go pray for a renewal for next year.

  3. Great finale that answered a number of nagging questions and finally resolve Henry's predicament. The cliffhanger will keep me on the edge of my seat for season four if the show is renewed (fingers crossed). But I think I know what the outcome is going to be because I refuse to believe Branch is dead.

  4. The way A&E cancelled The Glades, it wouldn't surprise me if Longmire were cancelled. I certainly hope not, tho!

  5. Almost shed a tear when Walt cried as he scattered his wife's ashes.

  6. Branch cant get shot in two consecutive season finals.

  7. fantastic finale ep that finally closed the book and gave us some much needed answers to Walt's wife's murder... just still a little puzzled as to why it was arranged that way as if it was supposed to prevent Walt from being reelected as sheriff you'd think that the hitman would go after Walt and not his wife..... and great ending that was quite the cliffhanger, and loved the scene as Walt finally let his wife rest, but opened the new chapter on Walt's revenge which I hope we'll see in a new season...

  8. I think the goal was to kill Walt's wife, so that Walt would have an emotional breakdown and would be seen as unfit to be Sheriff. Remember in the very first episode, it was stated that Walt had not been paying attention to his job that much since his wife died.

  9. We didn't see him pull the trigger, so I'm hoping in the magic of tv and that Branch shot his father instead. Here comes wishfull thinking...

  10. Just in: R.I.P.leyAugust 5, 2014 at 9:57 AM

but how is he gonna get out of that one, IF he did (which I sincerely hope) ... seeing that Walt benched him after going mad when he - at least legally - could have got out of fit - and Daddy not making his problems disappear...? HOW is he gonna get back on track? aaaaaaaaaaaargh, I could scream :)

  11. It was self.defence so should not be.a problem.

  12. A lot of great scenes mentioned. I'd like to add the one when Walt mistakenly clocked Vic, and she said it was the best thing that had happened to her all week. That was awesome!

  13. IF.. I hope. he'd still need Walt's backing but seeing that Barlow was the one responsible for his wife's death... the ONE reason why I think/HOPE that it was Branch who pulled the trigger - I couldn't imagine another scene of Walt racing cross-country to find him shot. this time there might be no fishing hooks&line..
first though we all have to pray there will be a season 4 ;)

  14. Spectacular S3 finale. Henry always drops the gem lines. To Vic "I think you are spending too much time with Walt, you are picking up his speech patterns". Love it! A&E is crazy if they don't renew for a 4th season. One of the few quality shows on TV these days that relies on quality writing and acting and not sex, violence, and special effects.

  15. You really nailed it in the clarity of the last sentence of your comment.

  16. really strong season from Longmire, the best so far. Kind of frustrated with the clifhanger, and worrying Branch is dead and next season will be about Walt getting Branch's dad to justice. I hope not, Ihope he is dead.
I dont worry for season 4, even i A&E wont pick it someone else will, the show has too decent ratings to be ignored.

  17. I just wonder how Branch is going to deal with killing his own father and how knowing that Barlow killed his wife is going to affect Walt's relationship with Branch.

  18. Love this show! I am betting Branch didn't go alone, he had Lucien watching somewhere and Lucien takes out Barlow.

  19. I did NOT expect that! Awesome episode. Sorry, I was blown away by that confession; completely unexpected. I loved the expression on Fales' face as Katy and Walt laid out the evidence. (Given the promise of no law suit....do you think his career is over? Can I imagine his career is over?)

Everything about the episode was satisfying though the peaceful scene of Henry enjoying his freedom had me waiting on the attack that would leave us wondering if he'd survive. Can't express how pleased I am they avoided that cliche.

Wish I could keep straight in my head when A&E makes their renewal announcements. But I've lost faith in that batch of executives. So I'll just have to cross my fingers.

  20. Cliffhanger? Hmm, it simply never occurred to me that there was even supposed to be a hint of a question of who would be the last man standing in that scene. :-) I was more worried about Walt loading his gun. Until the owl popped up I was worried Walt would go hunting A Martinez's character (sorry blanked on his characters name) I hope the owl was the sign to make him stop and think.

  21. Poor Branch needed a therapist before shooting his father. He'll definitely need one now. Maybe we'll get lucky and he only fired a warning shot that stopped him. At that range Branch could have made several non fatal shots. Heck he wouldn't have even *had* to shoot. The way his father telegraphed his move Branch could have knocked his father's rifle away sending his father's shot wild.

But if he did kill his father the self defense case shouldn't be difficult. He's got the evidence to back up his word.

  22. Fantastic! Edge of seat through the ending. I am rarely caught by surprise and the ending, surprised me. Need to know how it really ended. As I read the comments, was Longmire in the bubble? It seemed like a slam dunk to me for renewal and now I'm worried. I don't want to be worried!

  23. Or maybe they spend the first part of next season trying to save Branch from himself. Turning himself in for killing his father? Does Branch have any good will left after this season?

  24. Who wrote this episode? It was excellent, all around. Great dialogue.

  25. I would have liked for Vic, Cady or the Ferg to have at least apologised to Branch for thinking he was delusional when he said David Ridges was still alive.

  26. Hunt Baldwin and John Coveny wrote this episode. They are also the creators/executive producers of Longmire.

  27. The jar contained pieces of papers that were requests for help from Hector. I think Henry taking it means he may take up for Hector in helping people seeking justice.

  28. The ratings number are down this season. The 18-49 demo is running .5 or .6 which does put it on the bubble. The total viewer numbers are also down but running 3.5m which is actually good for a cable show. Reviews are good and buzz seems more this year so I'm hopeful A&E will show some sense and renew. They don't have much else on their network that is doing anything but they seem to be making more and more nonsensical moves. If they don't renew I believe someone else will pick it up.

  29. .I hope Branch is slightly faster on the draw than his Father. If he is not I hope he is only wounded again.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Thank you! That makes a lot of sense. They neatly tied up a lot of loose ends. And of course left us with a big cliffhanger.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Here is my take on it... The father is dead or wounded. Either way, since they think Mr. Sexy Deputy is crazy, it is up to Walt to do justice for this Deputy. There is conflict due to Vick, where the sexual tension and the need to protect her all force Walt to have to choose. The contracts will have disappeared, that shows the payoffs for the henchman. Sexy Deputy will now take the place of Henry's storyline. Henry will continue with his non emotional, one line act, and look all mystical for season 4. Vick will throw herself at Walt, and the conflict of a work romance will ensue. Vick's spouse will smear Walt;s name, and use NHorse to help him. Deputy Donut's turn to have some conflict and the Lovely Coffee Server/Dispatcher will counsel Walt to stay away from Vick.

  32. Branch's behavior was indefensible. He is the one who should be doing the apologizing, no one else.

  34. He may be dead because Gerald McRaney is in demand. A busy, busy actor.

  35. Branch is not himself.

  36. Loved this last season finale episode. All of it was so exciting.I actually loved that Katie finally got Henry off and made that Denver detective look like a fool, but the entire episode was great.I hope we hear soon about a renewal. If any show on tv deserves to be renewed,it is this one!Great cast, great writing!
