great ep... I liked the tension that the trials created and really liked the foreshadowing of showing the Captain's family soon to be in peril just as they finally find the cure as it will be interesting to see if the show will incorporate more land based action as it's easy to predict that there will be some kind of rescue mission for his family...
I wish they would have spiced this show up a bit. It would have been better if people were mutating in the trials or zombies or something. Too much melodrama. And it felt like, once again, it's too easy. Now they have a working vaccine. Too easy.
It was obvious which of the 6 was dying...the ONE character we hadn't met before. That's almost as bad as the old feature film cliche of the ONE character (usually in military films) who is either engaged, just married or about to have their first kid...is the character that's going to be dead by the end of the movie. :-)
As the 6 volunteers walked into the quarantine area I was aware that this was the first time I felt the stakes for characters living or dying....until I realized that one of the six was a character we had never seen before. (Fan's get really upset when a show kills off a regular. I love it. Mostly because I'm always betting the show isn't brave enough to do it...so I am as shocked as the writers want me to be.) Honestly, I think this would have been a much better episode for the seal who was killed during the rescue mission last week to be killed off.
Other than that...the story with the Captain's family felt a lot like set up for the show's formula in season 2. We'll have some land stories. Though given the level of actors in this subplot. I suppose we'll see them next week (my recording cut off before promos) as well.
That said. I did enjoy the episode. I liked the solution. I kind of hope Bertrise will be back next season. I like her.
I will be so happy ( but am not holding my breath) when producers and showrunners accept that the audience notices things like that...and work a little harder to do something better.
That was an intense episode! Especially for Danny, he's already lost two people and then he found out Cara was pregnant. Loved that episode, looking forward to the finale and to season 2! :)
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.

ReplyDeleteThey picked one red shirt and that red shirt died, bloody silly if you ask me but was still a good episode.
