---|---|---|---|---|
Coach terrorizes a student | Scott is thrown against a wall | Kira acts awkward or stutters | Someone plays lacrosse | Big plot twist |
The vehicle Stiles drives breaks down or crashes | Scott gives a stirring teamwork speech | Peter or Stiles snarks | Either Scott or Stiles ask if someone's okay | A scene is so dark you can barely see |
Derek gets beat up or tortured | Deaton is no help at all | A party breaks out | Derek frowns | Lydia finds something horrible |
Stiles says "What??" | Someone's eyes glow | Someone's shirtless (Bonus if NOT Derek) | Someone growls | Someone in high school when shouldn't be |
Music played way too loud | Malia looks confused and badass | Awkward talk in locker room | Someone mentions Greenberg | Werewolf powers go wonky |
Way too hard to choose just 1 this week. Stellar scenes for me - both Satomi fight scenes, Scott's live while you're dying speech, Lydia's mom's brains, Mama McCall's march to get answers from Braeden, Lydia in the white room, Scott and Stiles conversations, everything (yes everything) Malia, FedDad for the save, and Stiles and Scott separated by the vault door before Scott uses his alpha vision. In the end, it is always Scott and Stiles for me so I'm picking the vault door separation but I was very tempted to vote for Malia walking out and Satomi dodging bullets.
ReplyDeleteI picked Stiles and Scott at the door. Stiles was able to get the info to save them, but because he doesn't have supernatural powers, he couldn't get in to save them. It could have been tragic.
ReplyDeleteMy favorites was the two Stiles scenes. With the gun and with Scott and the door. Dylan's acting was awesome in both. And i liked Satomiand the bullets, very Matrix :P
ReplyDeleteThis poll threatens my 6 episode long quest to pick JUST ONE in of your favorite's polls!
ReplyDeleteI really really really want to pick Stiles standing down an assassin with a gun pressed against his forehead. (I still wanna know what FedDad - hysterical chuckle this got him promoted to FedDad - had chambered in his gun!)
But I had to go with Malia walking away from Stiles. They went subtle and it was so much more powerful than the stereotypical scream of "get a way from me" and "I never want to see you again"
And I only picked ONE. I didn't cheat and pick 'Other' so I could vote for two.
Almost there!
ReplyDeletePlease note that I would've almost had a DOUBLE bingo with the card above during the S2 finale I watched tonight :-)
Malia always has the best scenes, although the ending was heartbreaking
ReplyDeleteThe acting in that scene has been my favorite of the season so far. Both Scott and Stiles separated by the vault door broke my heart. Then Scott falling through the door and the two of them grabbing each others' shoulders and just visually confirming that they had made it through another crisis together was brilliant. These two have come such a long way.
ReplyDeleteI'm telling you. I almost had to go with the other option on this one because there was a lot of good here. I will say that FedDad has 5 episodes to reclaim his title but I just cannot call him DoucheDad right now. I really, really want to but I can't. If I find out he's shafted Mama McCall on the child support and that's why she can't pay the bills, he'll be right back there.
ReplyDeleteI just finished the podcast with Lilith and one of the things I was raving about is how they didn't need any dialogue in the Malia-Stiles break up (for lack of a better word) scene. It was a powerful testament to the acting that not one word was said and yet the emotion of the scene was so intense. It was very well done. In fact many of my favorite parts of this episode had very little dialogue in it, including all the silent conversations Stiles and Scott had.
When I was debating who to give the MVP award to in the podcast, I ended up breaking form and going with Dylan O'Brien instead of any of the characters. That was the most powerful acting he has been able to do since 3B and he nailed it. It very much made these 2 scenes. As for Satomi, I can't believe how much I enjoyed her this episode. I actually hope we get to see more of her and learn more about the Hale family history through her. Matrix-style butt kicking is definitely the icing on that cake.
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are catching up. I love the idea of using Bingo cards for past episodes as well. Some definitely don't apply yet, but many have been staples from season 1. How'd you like season 2?
ReplyDeleteMalia has been a wonderful surprise for me. I wasn't excited about a coyote-raised human story but Malia has brought the humor in a way very few characters have and she has had great character development already. She is now in my top 5 Teen Wolf characters, which is very impressive for someone who joined so recently.
ReplyDeleteIm a sucker for Sciles so I have to go with when they were seperated by the vault door, and Scott using his Alpha eyes was badass! Satomi going all Neo in the hospital was pretty cool too :)
ReplyDeleteThe stuff about lying to Malia is annoying, but I loved seeing Satomi bring it when that assassin showed up.
ReplyDeleteSatomi has skills! I was nervous when they brought her up last week because I really did not liek the flash back episode in 3B. Surprisingly she was one of my highlights in this great episode and I hope we see more of her. The pack could use her fighting expertise.
ReplyDeleteThe whole scene may be the best of season 4 so far. Loved it.
ReplyDeleteSorry it took so long to respond. Work started again this week and I have been busy with meetings and getting things prepared for students. I think that Teen Wolf continued to improve all the way to the pinnacle of 3B. Part of it is that each year before this one it got a little darker and more serious with less of the things I don't like about Teen Wolf. I appreciate that the stakes are higher and so the characters react with equal gravitas. I too liked how season 2 built on Jackson's character even if Roy is a better character on Arrow. I thought that in the end when Lydia reached out to him was particularly poignant. I like that she was tied to the mytharc as well, but I am still waiting for them to properly utilize the actress, who I think is great. Lydia is one of my favorite characters so I always want more of her. I especially like when they use her brains, which was one of the first things I liked about her. As for Peter, he is one of the only characters that I actually liked being resurrected. He plays the bad guy so well and you knwo I adore snark.
ReplyDeleteAllison had some story arcs that were painful to watch. still I prefered that to her only story line being the guy she was with. For me the biggest missed opportunity if they never let Allison embrace her family heritage. She should have been trained to be the family matriarch and explore her skills as a hunter and leader. She could have become a real asset to the pack but they stuck her in a romance and often had her working against the pack instead of with them or trying to do things on her own. The character could have been amazing with a great growth arc, but they let her languish away. In some ways I blame her reaction to her mother's death on both her father and Scott though. If they would have told her the circumstances, then she could have grieved without feeling the need for vengeane. In many ways this is one of Teen Wolf's fatal flaws jsut like Supernatural. Anytime someone tries to keep a secret it backfires horribly on them and ends up hurting the person they think they are protecting even more. After the first 10 blow up in your face, you'd think they'd stop going that route.
Stiles is always a joy and they tend to throw a lot of meaty material his way because they know Dylan O'Brien can handle it. Bascially Stiles is one of those characters that makes every scene better. I appreciate how they can have him be goofy one minute and then the smartest kid in the room the next. Well, unless Lydia is there. I especially love his relationship with Scott and Sheriff. They are the heart of the show for me and why I was hooked from the pilot. As for Team Parent, that is where the writing team of Teen Wolf shine. Not many shows can make the parents allies to the children - real help in times of stress and not just a plot device. I love how these characters have grown just as much as their children have. Highlights to come - Allison encouraging Argent to become a real ally for the pack, Sheriff and the chessboard, and Mama McCall's "Be your own anchor" speech. Mostly anytime any of these 3 are on screen, they own it. Great casting! Oh and Lydia's mom will make a great appearance dealing with makeup. She becomes a more frequent player in season 4.
My turn to apologize for the late response - I work two jobs and Murphy's Law has been in full effect at both of them since last Friday!
ReplyDeleteBecause of the previously mentioned cluster at each job, I haven't gotten to S3 yet - a situation that is about to change!
I am hopeful for Allison's character in S3 but I admit that out of everyone in the Argent family, Chris is by far my favorite (although there could be some Stargate bias going on there). Kate = least favorite. I know she resurfaces so I am getting the socks ready.
OK - time to watch!!!!
Sorry job has been a pain. Hopefully it will get better. For me, Gerard is by far the worst of the Argents although Kate is also terrible and then Mama Argent. Argent (Chris) is by far my favorite as well.
ReplyDeleteAhhh, jobs have eased a bit so I cruised thru S3A the last few nights and started S3B last night. LOVED IT! I do like Allison better in S3 - looking back now I think maybe the reason I disliked her so much is because the relationship between her and Scott was sooooo intense - his whole life revolved around her and that's not healthy - and when she went all dark side on him, it just pissed me off (I'm not very maternal in real life but a friend of mine that I have gotten hooked on the show were discussing it and she pointed out that my reaction was the same as her's when her son's first girlfriend broke his heart!). Watched the Silverfinger episode last night and watching Allison work with her dad was awesome - I like that Allison!
ReplyDeleteYou were right about Mama McCall's be your own anchor speech - that can apply to people of all ages - fantastic writing and acting. So glad that the Sheriff found out about the supernatural world. This knowledge has already seemed to make a difference in his relationship with Stiles. One of my favorites scenes so far of S3B is when Scott, Kira, Stiles and Lydia were in the Sheriff's office being questioned by Douch Bag Dad (accurate description there btw) and Sheriff was doing his best not to laugh at loud of the teen's antics. I think he would've been stricter about making them answer questions before he knew of the supernatural world and knew that they were likely trying to cover up something related to it. Well, that and Scott's dad is a Douche Bag.
Well, gotta work for a bit today but I am hoping to be done with S3B tomorrow so I can be caught up when episode airs - looking forward to some BINGO :-)
Hey, were you wanting to do the Buffy roundtable for 2.03? We're going to do it Sunday sometime between 2-5 pm CST if you are available.
ReplyDeleteHow does it work? I'm aware of them but haven't checked it out before. Is it a podcast? Twitter?
ReplyDelete3B is Teen Wolf at its best in my opinion. HunterAllison was always my favorite woo, especially when working with her dad. You really are cruising right along if you're already to Silverfinger. Woo hoo! You'll be caught up in no time. I loved the interrogation scene too especially since the teens are silent talking to each other and snarking to DoucheDad. Sheriff was the icing. Completely fabulous! Look forward to hearing what you think of the rest of 3B. It gets intense.
ReplyDeleteShoot..I'm not Skypeable. :-|
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear it. We do everything by Skype because it records better than Google Hangout.
