CBS has found itself at the center of a lawsuit regarding "Bert the Farting Hippo," a recurring prop on NCIS,TheWrap.com reports.
The company Folkmanis, Inc., which manufactured the original stuffed animal used as Bert, is suing CBS and affiliated companies, alleging that the network has been selling unlicensed Bert the Farting Hippo toys manufactured by a company in China, and ended its contract with Folkmanis as a result.

ReplyDeleteUgh,here we go.
ReplyDeleteI only read the words 'Bert the farting hippo' and had to click on it.
ReplyDeleteWhat more could you want in a story? :-)
ReplyDeleteWell technically you'd think that CBS would have the brains to realise that the farting hippo belonged to a company. That said company probably designed and made the hippo and were delighted for it to appear on a well known TV show. Then said TV show decides to outsource the making of said hippo toy without contacting the original makers. It's quite possibly intellectual property theft. You wouldn't want something you designed and made to be outsourced by another company and you're not getting a bean. So it's understandable that Folkmanis Inc want their slice of the pie.
