I really love that Laurel is getting a story of her own this season but still be part of Team Arrow. I liked the sentence from the 31 Things to know about S03 article: Am I Laurel or am I my sister? I really hope they meant this and develop these individual stories.
Orphan Black: Fun video! Glad they chose Mark, because it does feel right!
OUAT: I'm wondering if this could relate to Will Scarlet or have a in direct connection with OUATiW (I know, I'm a little obsessed with wanting Knave news), but this doesn't just remind me of Indiana Jones, but also the Knight that watched the Red Door that led the Heart of the Island Fountain of Wonders and Nyx---and also there was suppose to be a Don Quixote/White Knight character that never was introduced like the writers said they wanted to!
I wouldn't call hunting Blood for a couple of eps a story on her own, especially with everyone meddling into it. I want stuff only for her with no significant input by other characters. .
In one interview its stated Tony will find the person he wants to be with,he can see a future for them and here they are saying well maybe. I would just like him to find a person he is serious about and thinking ahead of the future with her.
OUAT: I'm not sure which knight story we'll be seeing. I'm hoping it won't be King Arthur related.
Sleepy Hollow: I anti-ship Abbie/Ichabod so I really hope we're not getting a lot of romantic moments. I like them as partners/friends and nothing more.
The Originals: I think the Mikael/Esther relationship and Esther/Klaus' biological father are the most appealing story-lines. I don't know if I can continue to watch the show though unless they fix the main characters and drop Haylijah though.
From what I hear it doesn't sound like they're in any rush to pair off Ichabod and Abbie on "Sleepy Hollow", or that the idea's even on their radar, period (outside of what they might hear some fans say, at least), so I don't think you'll need to worry about that :). I personally wouldn't be bothered one way or another when it comes to the idea of putting Ichabod and Abbie together romantically, but I now isn't really the time to focus on that, and that they make for great friends and partners as it stands. And besides, I'm really interested to see how things unfold between Ichabod and Katrina next season. Now that he's reunited with his wife I think that could present some intriguing story ideas for the two of them. Anyway, very curious about this shocking moment that happens between Ichabod and Abbie. Considering they're in Purgatory when it happens I'm going to take a wild guess it'll be shocking in a not-so-good way for them :p. But who knows?
It was more than just hunting Blood, it was her entire addiction and downward spiral, followed by her recovery. I'd say she had more of an individual storyline last season than Diggle, Felicity or Thea did. Unfortunately, it was quite poorly written and did not portray her in a sympathetic manner.
I like how the entire internet is recycling that Arrow spoiler about identity ("Laurel: am I Laurel or am I my sister?", etc.) and every site acts like said spoiler is its own.
Laurel always had more individual storylines after Oliver in this show. The problem is it was executed and acted badly. Even though she was suffering these 2 seasons I just could not muster any sympathy for her. I have high hopes for her this season. They better do it right. Three seasons is too much time to make audience like a character.
Thank goodness they said Laurel and Felicity's relationship will not be catty. I would love to see them become friends gradually. But please I beg you TV gods please don't make Laurel give advice on Oliver and Felicity's love life. It was difficult watching her give romantic advice to Sara and Oliver last season. Not with Felicity too. Please keep Laurel away from Oliver's love life atleast for two seasons.
I agree. I want Laurel to be fine with their relationship and respect it but I don't want her to become the #1 Olicity cheerleader because that would be pathetic. Also I want Laurel and Felicity to get along. They don't have to be BFFs but it would nice to get more female interaction.
I want Laurel to not be affected at all by Oliver/Felicity dynamic. IMO she should have no reaction at all. Why should she care about Oliver's love life at this point? She should be his friend helping him in getting Thea back because after Oliver and Roy, Laurel is the one closest to Thea. I want the Thea/Laurel dynamic from season 1 revisited. Writers did a disservice to both the characters by dropping the mentor relationship after the introduction of Roy.
Also I hope they don't try to make Laurel and Felicity BFFs on the get go. Them getting close by next season I can believe. I want to see more working relation and growing respect between these ladies. What I want most is Laurel/Sara interaction. Please give me all the sister scenes they sacrificed for stupid love triangle last season.
Ugh the Blood investigations/Blind Spot episode were so cringe worthy for me. From how Team Teen Arrow just dropped it after Laurel took over, how Felicity got outsmarted by a security guard, Laurel doing the search for documents in a white coat. Then the killing of officer Daily, that was just swept under the rug (even in self-defense), we saw no remorse no guilt from Laurel.
Yes she had her stories! But their were more like plot devices to get the other characters where they should be a not about her way. I know Katie in different roles so I don't blame the acting, cause she got skills, it's the always changing writing. They hadn't any consistent storytelling with her. I for once like her and I hope when people will step away from shipping could find her more loveable(saying in general not meaning you).
The addiction story was done really poorly! Her fall never got to me. I didn't felt it. They should've took a page from Shonda and how she did Amelia's story. But they didn't had enough time and space to do it, I mean they had but did other stuff instead.
The thing is though she needs to show Laurels character/personality more. What i seen so far on Arrow (i didn't watch any of KC other shows so i can only take what i see from Arrow) i have troubles believing all the praises for KC. I found her scenes with PB and CD ok, but she struggles a lot with others. I think what might also hurt Laurels character is the feeling among the audience that Laurels actions don't always have consequences (2 blackmail attempts, officer Dailys death). And lets not talk about the jacket thing because that scenes still makes me stabby.
Yeah the consequence stuff is awful. I'm just re-watching S02 (watching S02E16 while writing this) and just realized the so shaken up morally high Laurel didn't twitch when she shot Daily and didn't thought about it at all. But we can put that on the drug count. I mean she is a cops daughter she could shot him into his legs. But she had a lot of good scenes as well. The inconsistency is what bothers me! I really think Laurel will escape the BC path and develop a identity on her own, really hoping hard. She needs to be a fighter on her own. I hoped for Sara to get paraplegic and train Laurel into BC. But it didn't happen.
I know the show tries to tell us Laurel is a do-gooder but from what i see on my TV isn't what we get told through interviews. So i am not sure whats going on between the writing and execution of a scene.
I have never seen KC in any other roles. So my opinion is solely on the basis of Arrow and one episode of Gossip Girl which I somehow stumbled upon. Though I agree lot of KC hate that is going around on the internet is due to the mob mentality of shippers. But you can't put the dislike people feel for Laurel solely as a result of shipping. I am not a shipper but I detest Oliver/Laurel pairing so you can call me an anti Lauriver shipper :)
My problem with Laurel started in early season 1. Even in the first episode she was so hot and cold with Oliver. I thought its just the pilot, it will get better. But God she was so self righteous and abrasive whenever there was a scene with Oliver. Still I had hopes for the character. When the Dinah returning episode was announced I thought now I can see Laurel in a situation away from Arrow/Oliver. But that episode actually made me dislike Laurel more. And I blame it on the bad acting by the actress. There is just no warmth in the character. She is said to be this kind and lovely person who works hard to help people but it is just not translating on to the screen for me. A strong woman does not mean uptight and stand off ish all the time.
Take Thea/Laurel for example. They know each other for some time and show tried a mentor relationship with them in season 1. But when Thea comes to Laurel in season 2 there is just no connection or familiarity between them. Even during the Moira funeral scene. Just a lack of warmth altogether. Today I happened to come across the deleted scene from season 1 finale which explains why Laurel stayed back. It would have helped people understand the character's motivation but the acting on that scene was so bad. There was no urgency at all in dialogue delivery and the city is collapsing outside.
To say all her story lines was done for others would be wrong imo. The introduction of Sara might have done for the furthering of Slade story but her whole relationship in the second half of season 2 with Oliver was done solely for the benefit of Laurel hitting rock bottom and rising up and be the bigger person. It just didn't work.
They still can salvage Laurel. Just push on and make her BC. Once she starts actually saving people I truly believe audience's opinion will shift. And whatever kool aid the writers were drinking while writing season 2 Laurel they should stop and detox. It was horrible. The retconning of season 1 Laurel by making her stealing Oliver from Sara *sarcasm* (what did they gain from that gem I still have no idea), blackmail for her own benefit (I would have loved it if it was done to save some poor soul in trouble), killing officer Daly and showing no remorse. Also keep her romantically far far away from Oliver for solid 2 seasons at least. No romantic looks, no romantic advice, no saying I know you in my bones *rolls eyes*. Just build a new friendship with this new Oliver and new Laurel. IMO actress should also stop saying Oliver and Laurel are soul mates. She should give more interviews building up the good qualities of Laurel.
The moral of this whole rant is I dislike Laurel now and I don't have much respect for KC's acting abilities as of now but I am cautiously optimistic towards Laurel's future. I am cautious because they always give great interviews when it comes to Laurel (emmy worthy scene, Laurel getting her edge back etc.)and I get excited and then get supremely disappointed. So I hope they do it right and don't take too much time to make her BC. I don't understand why Laurel needs this much build up into becoming a hero where as Roy became a part of Team Arrow and went on missions in the span of few episodes.
I agree. The problem is that Thea got stuck with Roy and she didn't do anything interesting until the reveal Merlyn was her father. Thea is my favorite female character and I hope Roy stays away from her next season. Their relationship is the definition of boring. It gets a non reaction because nobody cares about it, not even to get a negative reaction. I loved the Laurel/Thea scenes in S1 and the very few Laurel/Sara scenes that weren't about Oliver. I just think it would be nice to get more female interaction. Also they need Felicity to interact with other people or she will become exactly what the Olicity haters predict: a love interest that has no other storyline. I don't ship Olicity and I don't care about the couples or love triangles in this show. If they want to do Olicity and Laurel/Black Cat fine but don't reduce the female characters to love interests. Especially because it's going to make Laurel's characterization even more of a mess. What gives me hope is that for the first time the writers seem to have a real plan for Laurel this season instead of trying different things.
I am kind of apathetic towards Thea/Roy. I simply don't care. Only good thing happening from that dynamic is a maturing in Thea in season 2 because of Roy's support. After that nothing. I love Colton Haynes. He is a funny dude. But the guy just can't act. I heard they are bringing new LI for Roy this season. Thea will be spared for at least first half of this season.
I don't think we have to worry about Felicity this season. Last season they completely neglected to give her a life outside of Team Arrow just like Thea. But at least she was so much more active and involved in the story than Thea. From the spoilers we have got she is going to have a back story, her mom is coming, Ray Palmer is there and she is going to the Flash universe too. I don't get why after all these spoilers Olicity haters still think she is just going to be a love interest with nothing else to do. Also just because she did not interact with anyone outside Team Arrow in season 2 does not mean she didn't grow as a character.
I don't mind Olicity right now because it works for the story as it stands right now. Oliver needs to stop bed hopping for a while and be a responsible man. I don't care if he was a womanizer in the comics. The Arrow Oliver Queen is a changed man and that change should involve his romance too. Also any love triangle which does not have Lance sisters and Oliver is very welcome. Most importantly Laurel needs to be away from Oliver romantically for at least 2 seasons. The bitterness and betrayal between the characters has to go away. For that this move is needed. The kid and baby mama story line of Oliver is looming at the horizon. I hope before that happens Laurel is a kick ass BC and happy in her life so that the same melodrama of you cheated on me does not get repeated. That being said I don't think Olicity will be the only LI for Oliver from now on. The show is only at season 3. I don't think this show has the ability to show a successful relationship for a long period of time.
Felicity is my favorite character. So I may be biased. But I don't understand why people think the show is going to be all about Olicity now that they are going to go in that direction. The cast and crew talk about Olicity more because it builds internet chatter and also I think that is the safe topic they can talk about without giving away any important plot. Even if Olicity works out and they become an item or if Oliver is angsting over Felicity/Ray it will be a small part of the show. A few minutes per episode. It will not be an Olicity show nor it will destroy Felicity. If this doesn't work out writers will drop it like a hot potato and will go another direction. Better get into it right now than teasing it for seasons and never make it happen.
I think people are worried because this is network tv and loud obnoxious fans tend to end up controlling the tv shows. I have faith in the writers and I know this show won't become all about romance but I get why some people are afraid.
Also it doesn't help that a few really loud Olicity fans only watch for them and want the show to be all about them and complain every time some other character gets screentime.
I don't care if Oliver sleeps with Felicity or somebody else but I'm tired of the bed hopping too. Even Stephen Amell said Oliver just act more mature at this point.
I have faith in writers too. You know why? Ironically its because of Laurel. In the end EPs of this show are comic book fans. People have been saying for the past two seasons don't make Laurel BC, let Sara remain BC, Laurel won't make a believable BC. I myself said at one point in season 2 I would like it if Laurel is written off and Sara is kept as BC. But EPs never faltered from their plan to make Laurel BC. They admitted their mistakes but never gave into pressure and wrote off Laurel. I admire them for that.
In the end they would market and talk about what people want to hear most but they will tell the story they want to say.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
I really love that Laurel is getting a story of her own this season but still be part of Team Arrow.

She had a story of her own in season 2. It sucked. They better improve her this year.
ReplyDeleteSo, 24 WILL be coming back then! So much for the 'one off' theory that's been going around.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't call hunting Blood for a couple of eps a story on her own, especially with everyone meddling into it. I want stuff only for her with no significant input by other characters. .
ReplyDeleteBut it might return in the 2015/2016 season. I want more 24, but I was hoping in the next TV season.
ReplyDeleteIn one interview its stated Tony will find the person he wants to be with,he can see a future for them and here they are saying well maybe. I would just like him to find a person he is serious about and thinking ahead of the future with her.
