In the midst of the frantic fall schedule full of new shows on the big networks, one new drama might get lost in the mix, but you should definitely keep track of it: it's Kingdom, and it will be available to all DirecTV subscribers.
The show takes place in a gym for MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) competitors in Venice Beach, Los Angeles.
Season 1 consists of 10 episodes, and it will begin airing on October 8.
It will air Wednesdays at 10 PM on The Audience Network, much like previous DirecTV series such as NBC's Friday Night Lights (seasons 3, 4 & 5), FX's Damages (seasons 4 & 5), Full Circle (a 10-part 'high concept' series that aired last October), and Rogue (a cop drama starring Thandie Newton ; season 2 ended a few days ago).
Here is the first trailer for the promising series:
Here's the main cast:
- Frank Grillo (The Shield, Prison Break, The Kill Point).
- Kiele Sanchez (Lost, The Glades).
- Matt Lauria (Friday Night Lights, The Chicago Code, Parenthood).
- Jonathan Tucker (Hannibal, Parenthood).
- Nick Jonas (The Jonas Brothers).
- Joanna Going (From Dusk Till Dawn, House of Cards).
Fun fact: both Frank Grillo and Kiele Sanchez are starring in The Purge - Anarchy, currently in theaters. Grillo was recently seen as Brock Rumlow in Captain America - The Winter Soldier.
Fun fact #2: Frank Grillo also played a MMA trainer in Warrior, a fantastic film (starring Tom Hardy & Joel Edgerton) from Gavin O'Connor (executive producer of one of the best dramas on TV: FX's The Americans).
Will you check this show out even if you're not a MMA fan? I know I will. Tell us all in the comments!
