HBO Developing Shutter Island TV Series called Ashecliffe

Here’s one that has great potential: HBO and Paramount Television are making deals to turn the 2010 hit film Shutter Island into a TV series. Tentatively titled Ashecliffe, the plan is for the pilot to be directed by Martin Scorsese from a script by Dennis Lehane, who wrote the bestselling thriller novel that Scorsese and screenwriter Laeta Kalogridis turned into the hit film that Leonardo DiCaprio starred in.

  4. Oh! I could really get behind this Scorsese is/stays involved! I really liked his adaptation of the book. Would be cool if they could get Kingsley to reprise his role! It could be like a very dark 'Alcatraz' too!

Anyone else think this is True Detective meets American Horror Story Asylum?

  7. Well my problem with movies is the best ones have great plots that I want more of...so I would prefer them to be a series anyway. Most of these YA adaptations suck so much because they would make better TV franchises than movies as well. So I don't think it's a bad thing.

  8. They wanna make the Adjustment Bureau into a TV Series as well lol.

  9. The movie was already pretty good, and it hasn't been that long since it came out. I don't see why it needs a TV adaptation yet.

  10. I was thinking a 1950's Hannibal meets Alcatraz/Manchurian Candidate, especially if it's going to retain the atmosphere of Scorsese's film adaptation.

  11. As a prequel, they could definitely expand! :)

  12. Yeah at first I thought it was just another adaptation of the book. A prequel sounds more interesting. But the HBO pilot I am most excited about is the Jonathan Nolan one: Westworld.

  13. Cool! Person of Interest is one of the best new network shows. Westworld should be good.

  14. I'm very excited to see Bad Robot go cable and the Nolan brothers really have great psychological works outside their Batman trilogy, let alone this cast, it really could be something!

  16. Loved the movie. The talents behind are tempting, but I think there's no need to do this.
