Beloved blood opera Game of Thrones was shut out of the major Emmy Awards this week, but at least it justifiably cleaned up in the technical categories, taking home prizes for Costumes, Makeup, Art Direction, and Visual Effects.
You can get a good look at the latter in a new VFX reel released by Rodeo FX, the team responsible for creating much the world of Thrones. The marching armies are impressive, but what’s even more interesting is seeing how the digital effects transform a verdant countryside into the ruined warscape of post-Five Kings Westeros.

ReplyDeleteVideo won't load for me. Do they include that awful shot of the banner behind her? That was some OUaT-level CGI.

ReplyDeleteit just.... WOW. Congrats to all people involved in this!!!
ReplyDeleteapparently they finished post-production on the last ep a week or two before it aired, so it does look like i might be as long or longer to do the CGI than to film the actual scenes.
