At the end of last week's episode, the entire Woods family was seperated from each other but after a dream-like sequence, they are reunited very early on. Molly is submitted to the hospital where she gets troubling news from Dr. Beck (guest star Joshua Malina), said news drive John to question the truth about Molly's pregnancy but rest assured: Those doubts are gone by episode's end as Molly aligns with someone unexpected to find an explanation and uncovers something in the process that leads her one step closer to the truth.
For fans of Camryn Manheim's Sam: We get to see very little of her again (Most of her appearance can be watched in the sneak peek). She is put in a difficult position as her brother's life is on the line and she must pick between keeping him safe and helping her friend. This episode turns Sam into a wild card. It's hard to tell where her loyalties lie, now that the ISEA has leverage over her. She seems to have completely given up on Molly and it'll be interesting to see what her next moves will be.
"What on Earth Is Wrong?" also introduces a side of Julie we haven't seen yet and just how much she really cares about Ethan who spends most of the episode unconscious but he eventually wakes up. Whether he is himself or not, you'll have to watch to find out.
Overall, the answers provided in this episode are merely confirmation of what many have been expecting since the first episode. Applying the Three-Act-Structure, "What on Earth Is Wrong?" brings us nearer to the end of Act One by laying the groundwork for the different characters, presenting us with their motivations and giving the interpersonal conflicts enough weight to be worthy of being part of the extraterrestrial story Extant is trying to tell.
thank you mark, can't wait for tonight. really been enjoying the show.
ReplyDeleteSo I guess the doctor tells her she is not pregnant (cover up?) but she finds proof somehow. Maybe Sam or her dad?
