NBC won’t be heading for Oz. The network has opted not to proceed with Emerald City, its 10-episode Oz-themed drama series, which had been ordered straight-to-series for next season.
I hear after several backup scripts had been produced, there was a difference in vision between NBC brass and Friedman about what the show should be, leading to NBC’s decision to not go forward with it.
Word is that Universal Television, which developed the project and is producing it, is still high on it and may shop it elsewhere.

I'm really disappointed :
ReplyDeleteWhat the frak?!
ReplyDeleteOMFG. This means TWO of the shows I was MOST looking forward to (this and Hieroglyph) have been canned. God dammit!
ReplyDeleteThis is terrible news.
ReplyDeleteI was sooo looking forward to this show.
I'm pissed, especially since I just started reading the books! I was looking forward to this and hope another network picks it up.
ReplyDeleteHBO / FX you NEED to pick this up ASAP !!!
ReplyDelete[ like if you agree ]
Before even premiering, quite the dissapointment really
ReplyDeleteHow disappointing,i was really looking forward to this...
ReplyDeleteSo it's cancelled before it aired...?
ReplyDeleteHopefully it goes to cable.
ReplyDeleteman... the ole cancellation Bear strikes early this season.... lol .....bummer as I was looking forward to checking this one out
ReplyDeleteUgh, so disappointed. Hope this gets picked up somewhere else - preferably cable.
ReplyDeleteNBC has done it again, surprise surprise.
ReplyDeleteI didn't expect them to cancel it before it even aired. I think this show had potential and NBC really needs to find better shows - The Voice seems to be the only show that they really have going for them right now.
ReplyDeleteI'm really pissed with NBC now!!! I was really looking forward to a finally Oz-themed series!!! Please, please, Universal shop it in another network!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope it does find a home, I was looking forward to it.
ReplyDeleteQuite sad! It was odd for me that no casting was announced but I thought it would start rolling.
ReplyDeleteHopefully he CW will pick up their Dorothy must Die, it sounds quite interesting.
God dammit!!
ReplyDeleteSee? This is why we can't have nice things.
ReplyDeleteIt sounded like a bad idea from the beginning to me, but it's too bad for uberfans who have been waiting for the series for months.,,,
ReplyDeleteWHAT. This is the only mid-season show I was looking forward to!
ReplyDeleteAnd this confirms my hate for the Peacock network (besides The Blacklist, Today, and its late-night offerings).
I'd imagine, Friedman wanted something closer to Game of Thrones, and Nothing But Crap want something like Once Upon a Time.
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame. Why did NBC let it get so far before cancelling it. Must have been a lot of problems with it.
ReplyDeletethat show had a lot of Hype, people ws waiting for it. I want to know if Dorothy must die is still on i think it was for the CW
ReplyDeleteIt's still in script development stage
ReplyDeleteSo they promote it on Comic-Con and then cancel it? Okay, that makes sense.
ReplyDeleteReally disappointed was looking forward to watching this show just started reading the books hope another network pick up it be great on syfy
