The 80-minute premiere, entitled Deep Breath, aired on BBC One from 7:50 PM UK time. The highly-anticpated launch was seen by 6.79M viewers according to the overnights. That was worth a 32.5 share. Capaldi’s start lands as the series’ most-watched opener since 2010.

  1. Well deserved for Peter Capaldi, he was great, different from what were used to, but he has the traits of a brilliant Doctor in the making :)

  2. Was surprised that the ratings were already out for last night (usually see then later in the day) and glad the show did so well. In about ten days, the final BARB ratings will show how much higher a rating it gets. Also, the AI rating should be out on Monday indicating audience enjoyment of the episode (normally between mid to high 80s). That to me is just as important as the viewing audience rating.

  3. Fourth highest program of the week, and highest drama, so not too shabby at all, consolidated figures should have it hitting 9 million easily. I think X-Factor will hit it harder when it returns though (I think that's next week?) so overnights will probably dip a good million, maybe a one and a half, but catch-up should keep it line with the past series' averages of 7-8 million I think.

  4. Not bad at all, IPlayer records could well be broken as they often are with Who!
