Grey's Anatomy star Ellen Pompeo is adding executive producer to her résumé.
The Golden Globe nominee and People's Choice Award winner is teaming with ABC Family to adapt Rachel Carey's 2013 novel Debt, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Debt is a satire of the 2008 financial meltdown in New York. It follows Lillian, a woman in her 20s, who works as an SAT tutor with college loans and explores how everyone she knows — even her tutee's billionaire father — is in somebody's debt.
Pompeo will executive produce the drama, which is in the development stage. Debt hails from ABC Signature, ABC Studios' cable-focused boutique division banner. A writer is not yet attached.
