I have really missed this show of a weekend. Can't wait for it to return. Hopefully we'll fall in love with some new characters this year early on since they seem to kill off so many in s1!!
- Max got in over her head, put Elanor in an impossible spot, and then rejected her help. Now that she's found some good fortune, she's poised to hurl it all back in Elanor's face even though it was mostly her fault all along. Still, it should be interesting to see where they take their relationship in the upcoming season.
-Flint and Silver. Beyond the treasure, what is their leverage at this point? They were rather reckless with the lives of the entire crew.
Dufrense and De Groot ("I am de GROOT!"): I feel like the disaster to close out S1 was their fault too - by initiating the mutiny when they did, they put everyone in a dire situation and essentially thwarted the plan. Still, opening fire was a far worse decision because of the delay.
I still am amazed by the full broadside from the Spanish naval ship. That scene was worth the whole season. Just the suspense leading up to it, the collective "we're royally screwed" from the crew, and then the fully sustained barrage ripping the Walrus and the Ranger to shreds - it was a very impressive FX/CG sequence and a highlight of the show so far.
Nobody could have guessed that the Urca had wrecked the night previous. That knowledge likely would have changed the outcome of things slightly.
Vane is amazing. The character still has some mystery with him and I'm fascinated by his backstory. McGowan is doing well with the material.
And Anne Bonny/Jack Rackham don't seem to be in a favorable position at this point. They basically wiped out Vane's old crew and "proof beyond a reasonable doubt" is a concept foreign to pissed off pirates.
NOTE: Name-calling, personal attacks, spamming, excessive self-promotion, condescending pomposity, general assiness, racism, sexism, any-other-ism, homophobia, acrophobia, and destructive (versus constructive) criticism will get you BANNED from the party.
Very excited for S2. S1 was a slow burn but it really paid off.
