So in addition to ensuring there is room both on the canvas and within the narrative to circle back to Oliver’s kid, “We also need to have that moment happen in the right context. So is it Year 3, is it Year 10…? I don’t know,” Guggenheim says. “We’ve put it out there and we’ve got some cool ideas about where to go with it, should we do it, but we haven’t committed to actually doing it or even when to do it.”

it seem some fan want to see the storyline now or later........maybe season 4 is better
ReplyDeletetoo many story already for season 3...ray palmer, Diggle child, diggle brother, felicity background, ral al ghul coming, thea/malcolm, Roy harper storyline,
ReplyDeleteI'm not a shipper, but I'd be happy if we didn't hear about the son for a good long while.
ReplyDeleteUnproven negative speculation.
ReplyDeleteIt's faithful to the comics.
ReplyDeleteI'd rather we get a flash forward (i.e. Fringe future episodes) where we see Conner as Green Arrow.
ReplyDeleteThey aren't actually saying they're doing it this season, they just want to do it eventually (which they should).
ReplyDeleteThey probably realized it as well that there is to much going on. But on the other hand they didn't have to reveal it so soon if they wouldn't pull it off at least from my Pov.
ReplyDeleteWould you share with me why?
ReplyDeleteI think someone will uncover the truth but the conclusion will happen in season 4
ReplyDeleteYeah probably. As long as Conner becomes Green Arrow in the future I'm happy though.
ReplyDeleteprobably but I could see a flashback scene with Oliver training Connor and a father/son moment.....
ReplyDeleteOliver's son is only 7 yrs old now. It would be better if they waited few years to introduce him. Then after another few years they can show a time jump and Oliver training him. Thus when series finale comes Oliver can die and Connor can become next Green Arrow to honor his father. Season 3 is too early to introduce his child imo.
ReplyDeletei would prefer a series finale too(like The Dark Knight Rises, when we see him taking green arrow's place. That's it. Don't hope to see him during the show.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't automatically mean it's good or that everyone needs to like it. Bwana Beast is in the comics too. So is Batman wearing a pink suit. I don't think you want to see either of those things onscreen.
ReplyDeleteI agree with what Joe said. Also I think it's too soon to do this kind of storyline. The kid should have showed up in season five or six.
ReplyDeleteDo you know how much story is in a season of TV? Especially a 23-episode season? If you'd heard prior to season two that you'd be seeing Barry Allen, Oliver getting a mask, Diggle's ex-wife getting knocked up, the Suicide Squad, Amanda Waller, Dr Ivo, Sara returning from the dead, Black Canary, Laurel's alcoholism, Lance being demoted and promoted again, Mirakuru, Cyrus Gold, Roy being injected and cured, Slades men taking over the city, Nyssa and her relationship with Sara, Thea drifting away from her family, Moira's death, the return of Merlyn, the introduction of Oliver's kid, Slade getting shot up with Mirakuru and going crazy, Isobel Rochev, Deathstroke, two Flash characters crossing over into the show, the return of Count Vertigo, Brother Blood, Laurel's redemption, Al Owal, Dodger, Shrapnel, more Deadshot, Oliver losing his company, Felicity having chemistry with both Barry and Oliver, the fallout from Tommy's "death," Ollie's connection to the Bratva, and Thea running off with Merlyn what would you say? Probably the same thing I would think. Chill out. It's fine. 23 episodes is a lot of time and they need enough story to fill it. Arrow is a fast-paced show, the producers are all very experienced, and the writers are very good. Most of the time at least. They're not going to shove in a ton of story to ruin the show. They've proven they're better than that. This is not Smallville-level writing. (I like Smallville quite a bit but the writing was not always fantastic, to put it charitably.) But the point is it's a well-written show for what it is and there's no need to worry. There's no reason to do the "this is going to suck" internet fanboy thing. I get that predicting everything is going to suck is the in-thing on the internet but in reality there's no reason to do it.
ReplyDeleteWell, no surprise there, otherwise why bring him up in the first place? I'm not a fan of the storyline, and I really don't want another kid around, I mean we'll already have to see snipets of Diggle's kid, but in the right context in a future season, could work.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if he'll ever be trained in the Ashram Monastery like in the comics.
ReplyDeleteSon?
ReplyDeleteI dont think it was ever mentioned that its a boy/male, unless thats the default for child/kid?.
That or him being trained in the monastery.
ReplyDeleteDude it's Connor Hawke, seeing him being trained by monks and becoming Green Arrow would be awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to see Connor make a few guest appearances this season ( he wants to get to know his real father ) so he can slowly be brought into the shows canvas. Then in season four his mother will die and he will come to live with his dad Oliver. During season four we will see Connor as a young man through the eyes of someone who can see into the future allowing us to see how he will be and who will play the part ( I'm hoping for Dylan Minnette, Sterling Beaumon, or Robbie Kay ) in the future.
ReplyDeleteCome season five there will be a time jump and Connor will be sixteen years old.
A pink suit? Really? I'd like to see that. I'm sure that particular comic wasn't available in my country. I'd remember PINK SUIT. Could you tell me the title and/or the series? I'll look for it.
ReplyDeleteIt came out in 1957. The issue was Detective Comics #241. You could probably find it online.
ReplyDeleteOf course they have to bring that up, the sooner the better!
ReplyDeleteWhy is this news? We already knew this.
ReplyDeleteI respect your opinion but the main flaw of season 2 was too much story lines crammed together which led to lot of characters being underused. ex: Isabel, Blood. They introduced suicide squad but apart from Deadshot others were hardly even there. Roy and Laurel were absent from lot of episodes which led to a disconnect in their character journeys. We were never shown Roy hitting one target and voila in season finale he is a proficient archer who hits targets. What was the need for a huntress episode when they could have used it to further Isabel, Roy and Blood storyline. Diggle hardly get to do anything apart from the two episodes he was featured heavily. Even the producers in an interview stated that they tried to do too much last season which led to bad story lines for Isabel and Roy. So you can call it an "internet fan boy thing" but its the genuine concern of a fan towards his/her favorite show.
ReplyDeleteArrow is a highly entertaining and fast paced show. But they should learn to not just to add more and more characters but to say a coherent story and good character development.
I didn't know he was trained at a Ashram in comics. Who trains him? I always imagined Batman/Green Arrow to die while crime fighting. I just can't see them hanging up their costume and living a full life with 2.5 kids. In Felicity's words they take insane risks.
ReplyDeleteBut they will need to introduce him at least once in the show so that he can learn Oliver's identity and become motivated to be a crime fighter just like his father. Then they can send him away for his safety.
ReplyDeleteBatman in a pink suit. LoL. I didn't know that. Thanks for that info. Let me go and try to get a pic.
ReplyDeleteI have not read the comics, so I could not care less about authenticity but I truly hope they drop this storyline. Responsibility for raising children and super hero stories don't mix, when they are done realistic. I also think Digg's storyline is already bad enough this season, very risky at least. This kind of storyline killed Nikita, too, among other things.
ReplyDeleteMaster Jansen trains Connor in martial arts like aikido and kyudo. He basically becomes one of the greatest DC martial artists, through Oliver is better with a bow. Yeah him and Connor don't have a traditional father/son relationship, when they first meet he doesn't even know he's his son. Lol still better than the story of how Damien Wayne came to be. Oliver won't ever do that, it's just not possible when you're a superhero. (Well that's not entirely true if I remember correctly in the comics I believe he hung up his bow for a while and served as Star City's mayor.)
ReplyDeleteTV and comics are two different animals. I really don't think anyone wants to see Oliver chase after some bratty illegitimate kid of his instead of fighting crime.
ReplyDeleteIf it's at all like the comics, Oliver won't raise the kid.
ReplyDeleteI like Oliver to have a personal life as much as any other guy but in my opinion any kid story with Diggle or Oliver will not be good on ARROW, which is luckily an action show and not a family drama. Kids change everything, just because Oliver doesn't knew will not make it any better.
ReplyDeleteI don't want to see this storyline explored at all on the show. It was fine as it was, an easter egg nod to the fact that the older comic book Green Arrow is a father. Though if it was meant to be Connor Hawke, Oliver should have been present a the birth. But who knows, maybe Oliver found out sooner than we know? It could be a nice way for Susanna Thompson to make a flashback appearance.
ReplyDeleteFor me Arrow isn't about Oliver going out kicking as*(it's nice to watch it but not the reason why I watch), it's about the characters. And I would love see them challenge Oliver as a character more. All those things you said would be more of a game changer and would make Oliver see his live from a different point. Maybe understand his mother better, make difficult choices etc ect.
ReplyDeleteMy issue is that they brought it up and now put it on hold. I still hope the story happens ASAP, but S04 cliffhanger is most likely to happen.
But in the showe's timeline, Connor is what, 7? He'll have to be at least an older teenager (16-17) before we can see him training to take over from his father as Green Arrow. (Also, we already have Oliver training Roy as his protégé - wouldn't this be repetitive, even if it's loyal to the comics?)
ReplyDeleteBest way do the story in season 6 , Connor is 7 now he would be 9 in 5 and then jump forward 4 -5 years in season 6 and hes 13 -14.
ReplyDeleteI hope you mean La femme Nikita cause l don't remember Maggie Q's Nikita ever being pregnant , she was like a mom big sister to Alex but that was it.
ReplyDeleteI meant the storyline with Michael and his son on the show NIKITA.
ReplyDeleteWell again if it's loyal to the comics Oliver wouldn't train him (though he trained at least two Speedys, plus if he did it would be father/son thing unlike him and Roy), but yes he'd have to be around 16 which would require a time jump/ flash forward. I have to again point out the thing everyone keeps forgetting, if you read the article the writers said anyone from season 3 to 10 meaningly they still aren't sure when they'll use him just that they want have Connor appear at some point.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info. I hope we never get a Oliver being Mayor story line. I want some one else to even run QC once Ray Palmer leaves so that Oliver can concentrate on being Arrow. He just can't do it all imo. Even Tony Stark sits at home once he became super hero.
ReplyDeleteSee I would like the mayor thing as a possible ending for the series, or (if they indulge in a Connor Hawke flasforward episode which I still think would be cool) Oliver could either be mentioned as the mayor of Starling City in past or present tense (a few years after he hung up his bow of course, both at the same time would be problematic) to leave his fate up in the air (since I believe Stephen Amell wants Oliver to die in the end).
ReplyDeleteSee that is what needs to happen, or if Oliver finds Connor there as a result of a self-imposed exile like in the season 2 premiere.
ReplyDeleteGood!! I didn't want his son to show til like.season 5 anyway. I'm glad they put a hold on it.
ReplyDeleteThe point is the "it's in the comics" argument is stupid and pointless.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is the vast majority of the fans disagree with you. Being one of the highest rated shows on the CW and gaining almost universal praise undermines your point greatly.
ReplyDeleteI never said my words are universal truth. I was stating my opinion. I have seen in this forum and many other board people having a problem with the crowded nature of season 2 and the way many characters were utilized and developed. I have seen many reviewers commenting on the same. Marc Guggenheim in an interview said they chewed more than they can in season 2 and this Isabel and Roy suffered. And in the same interview he stated they are going to learn from their mistakes and season 3 is going to be more intimate than season 2.
ReplyDeleteI have no way of knowing what the vast majority of fans think. The ratings in the second half of season 2 did go down a lot with Deathstroke being the lowest. The finale did pick up though.
So if someone says they should drop one story line this season due to the danger of it being crowded does not mean they are trying to predict everything is going to suck. In the end Arrow is a highly enjoyable show which could be made more awesome if there is a continuity through out the season.
Great that's not my argument. My is that it would be interesting and would fit into the sims of our fathers theme. You don't need to be an ass about it.
ReplyDeleteA couple of replies on a board don't equal the millions of viewers who clearly like and watch the show. Including you.
ReplyDeleteDude I never said I hated the show or that viewers hated season 2. I was replying to your comment above where you called out the above poster's opinion about season 3 being crowded as a reason for pushing the Oliver's child story line to another time. You said the above poster was simply predicting the show is going to suck for just the sake of it. And I said some viewers had issues with the way season 2 happened and that comment was because of those issues. Once again Marc Guggenheim himself said they did too much in season 2. We are not imagining it out of thin air. Just because majority loved something does not mean it has no issues.
ReplyDeleteWe as fans are hoping the creatives would do a better job in season 3 and make Arrow even better. This is a board for such discussions. No need to put down another persons point of view. I am a huge fan of this show too you know.
