A production company is reportedly developing a TV series based on zombie megafranchise Resident Evil, according to Bloody Disgusting.
The pitch is pretty interesting. Called "Arklay," and created by Shawn Christopher Lebert, it’s dark and mysterious and has all the trappings of a juicy, supernatural police series, according to Lebert.
"When Detective James Reinhardt is thrust into a series of bizarre homicides, he unravels the city is hiding a dark conspiracy. Learning a fatal virus is connected to it all, Reinhardt discovers it’s already coursing through him. With time no longer on his side, he must solve the conspiracy to save his own life".
Lebert put together a pitch reel to show the tone he’s going for with the series (using footage from existing properties, not from the pitched series).

As far as a pitch can go, it sounds very good!
ReplyDeleteThe news intrigued me, but if it's not an adaptation from the video games then I probably won't be interested. I still can't get over how awful the live action movies turned out, and they might do the same here, butcher all the interesting parts of the games' plot.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds more like he just wants to capitalize on the RE name. If it's set in the RE world but really doesn't do anything RE, I don't know. We'll have to wait and see on it.
ReplyDeleteThe video is a bunch of clips mostly from Hannibal with the Arklay logo at the end. WTF is that all about? Hannibal is of course awesome.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Arklay stay away from CW for Sure, Hopefully goes Cable Only so Rated MA
ReplyDeleteYou should be a TV-writer....I love how the episode-titles were so overused btw, like..i think all of 'em been in like...every scince-fiction show ever...?
ReplyDeleteIs this real? It all sound like a fan rumor, I mean in the silly stile we've had with star wrs years go...THAT silly..the premise though, sounds interesting, but there wasn't really anything with it that seemed to tie to the games (or the movies for that matter, I enjoyed the first two and a half parts of that series btw..!), so I don't undertand why it would even be called Arklay or anything else Resident Evil
ReplyDeleteEpisode titles weren't exactly my objective there
ReplyDeleteI've been dreaming of a Resident Evil tv series for years! Would love to see this fleshed out (pun intended) a little more. Colour me excited.
ReplyDeleteYou said not to ruin Resident Evil, but you go ahead and do it
ReplyDeleteyourself. You messed with the story line way to much. Resident Evil
fans just want to see it go by the original, but from someone else's
point of view and with their involvement in the incident. There are
plenty of characters already that are police officers in the game.
There are so many characters and stories that you don't have to change
anything. You can play it out from each of their views if you would
like. You can't rewrite the story and call it the same.
