The Vampire Diaries is introducing a new face.
The CW's vampire drama has booked former Eureka star Colin Ferguson in a significant role on the upcoming sixth season.
First appearing in the season premiere, Ferguson will play Tripp, described as handsome, strong and disciplined. He is the head of a community militia and surrogate father to his young trainees who will do anything to protect his town.
He is also someone who will give Sheriff Forbes (Marguerite MacIntyre) a run for her money, hinted executive producer Julie Plec on Twitter.

Wait, what? What about Haven?
ReplyDeleteI didn't remember if he had really died. But even so, his character was so important that I thought he would be back.
ReplyDeleteI think it may be jarring to see him on TVD at first but this could work if the show doesn't make him some kind of Snidely Whiplash-type villain.
ReplyDeleteI don't think he's dead - just in a different dimension or something.
ReplyDeleteThis reminds me of the vigilante squad on True Blood. However, Tripp's "militia" and the storyline surrounding them will probably be easier to digest because TVD doesn't rush stories the way that True Blood has been doing. Tripp and his followers might stick around for a while. It's almost like they've formed a faction, and TO fans are no strangers to the concept of a "surrogate father" convincing one or more young people to help him protect his town from perceived invaders. Tripp will probably give Sheriff Forbes a run for her money because in a way, he's formed a cult, and Sheriff Forbes won't have very much influence if word has gotten out that her daughter is a vampire.
ReplyDeleteYes so happy about this.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if his 'town' is code for say the dark Dimension and he will be their Lucifer type leader, maybe with katherine by his side as his right hand women intent on taking over his throne
ReplyDeleteYes and Audrey said in the finale "now who's gonna help me get him back"
ReplyDeleteI'm assuming Haven has finished filming half of the season seeing as Colin will guest star on TVD and Emily is already on Graceland.
You know what, never mind the problems Tripp might cause. I'm in full agreement with another fan that Sheriff Forbes should have a romp between the sheets with the guy. I'm pretty sure the woman hasn't gotten any since her gay husband left her.
ReplyDeleteI doubt it, because why would Sheriff Forbes be interacting with him if that was the case?
ReplyDeleteNovel Spoilers Below
ReplyDeleteIn the novels one can access the Dark Dimension through 'portals / gates' on earth.
That actually sounds like an interesting plot. Increasingly TVD is a show that can be boiled down to "a gang of monsters vow to protect their territory and will murder anyone who gets in their way", so having another "territorial" faction arise would be an interesting counterpoint to the main characters motivations.
ReplyDeleteso he's like holtz from angel, just what we need, a cult leader
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed him playing a villain on Haven and I could see him injecting some of the same humor into TVD. It could be a fun snarkfest with him and Damon. :P
ReplyDeletewooohoooo yeah and thank you
ReplyDeleteYAY! Love this guy, hope they give him some comic-lines as his timing is increadable. This just might keep me watching if S4/S5 are as bad as everyone on here say they are, I'm on S3 "Smells Like Teen Spirit" I think. Any advice for a newbie who watches for the mythology rather than the triangles?
ReplyDeleteThe one thing I don't like about the show is Caroline's character inconsistenties after her father locks her up and outright tortures her then after she's rescued, the next episode she talks to him like nothing has happened? I did like her ''You can't fix me'' line, though. Really enjoying no emotion Stefan so far. Pual really does improve as an actor thoughout the first 3 seasons, also enjoying Jeremy alot more this season too! Just wish they gave Matt an actual plotline like they have Tyler.
Sheriff Forbes? isn't she dead?
ReplyDeletealso looks like the no magic spell is gonna last all of 5 minutes
In my Opinion S4 and S5 are not as bad as some people make it seem.
ReplyDeleteI kind of understand Caroline. After all he is still her father .. and when it comes to parents people often forgive to quickly
