‘The Big Bang Theory’ Negotiations Update: Production Start Date Pushed To Next Wednesday As Talks ContinueAfter taking things day by day on Wednesday and Thursday, I’ve learned that Warner Bros TV has tentatively slated production on Season 8 of The Big Bang Theory to start next Wednesday, Aug. 6. That is a week after the CBS sheries’ eighth season was originally supposed to kick off with a table read last Wednesday, July 31.

Production On ‘Big Bang Theory’ Pushed Over Cast Contract NegotiationsThere is no agreement yet in the contract negotiations between the original cast of The Big Bang Theory and Warner Bros TV, leading to the studio’s decision to push the production start date for Season 8, originally slated for today. “Due to ongoing contract negotiations, production on The Big Bang Theory — which was originally scheduled to begin today — has been postponed,” WBTV said in a statement. I hear the postponement is for one day for now, and the situation would be evaluated day by day as the two sides continue to negotiate.

  1. This fight took a little bit longer than we expect, I hope they finish without lost anyone of the cast.

  2. If TBBT was not a expensive show, now we can't say that anymore.
I understand that the WBTV doesn't want to give up cuz "if they want 1M now, how much they're gonna want next year"
But the show is lucrative and it seems to me that the audience is only getting bigger by the year.

  3. Come on, WB makes 3.000 million a year because of TBBT, can´t they just give 1 million to Cuoco, Parsons and Galecki and the increases to Helberg and Nayyar and get on with the production?

  4. If they agree to give them 1M, they would make that contract last for many years, because of what you said, I suppose.

  5. Interesting! Hopefully they will resolve this and this negative buzz will stop.

I hope Sheldon won't comeback to a friends funeral. -_-

  6. I believe it is a safe bet we'll see them again.

  7. How do you know how much money does WB make on TBBT? And how are you sure that cast isn't asking for more than just 1 million?

  8. I read it on a website. I could give you the link but it is in spanish :P And I think they are asking for 1 million, don´t think they have a chance of getting more as of now, id the show´s audience grow more they probably will.

A Deadline article a couple weeks ago said BBT makes 3 billion a year in syndication, ad revunue, DVD /merchandise ect.It also said the main three are asking for north of 500,000 a episode up to 1 million

  10. I don't think they'll get 1M, will probably settle somewhere around 750k to 800k.

  11. If any of those actors leave TBBT, I think its quality will go down.

  12. There is no way that's gonna happen.

  13. I Think its legit to want 1M for episode post 7 or 8 years for a popular show. Take in mind that these guys help make the series successful and gave the back end people the one who really get the money a lot of money. On top of that they are committed for 3 more years, and tho this is a good thing, it can also be a bad thing in that some of them will probably wont work often again because of the character image. But either way with 3B coming in I'm sure they can spare 150M plus or minus a year on them.

  14. Agreed. If the show were tanking or falling in ratings, then I'd question the want of a raise. But the show kills even in RERUNS, against NEW programming. I mean, goodness, it's not like they're wanting TEN million ...

I don't think the contract is just for just one year...

  18. Pathetic both the actors and warner too... 500k 600k 700k doesnt really change anything for anyone... also i dont see any of the actors on the show do something else other than TBBT so good luck to them.

  19. This is a great publicity ploy - keep a hot, but old show in the news - tons of media impressions reminding people the show will launch on a new night, etc. It's not they aren't going to work it out and get all 72 episodes produced (3x24) - those are worth hundreds of million dollars.

  20. This sounds a lot like what happened with the cast from Friends and I think the six of them ended getting the 1M per episode. So I don't think 3 of them getting it is that farfetched.

  21. I'm not a fan of this show at all but between the ratings, syndication, and awards the actors are doing more for Warner Bros. than Warner Bros. is doing for them. They really should be making more especially if they are being locked into long contracts.

  22. what's the hold up give them there money and get back to work NOW! I need my Big Bang.

  23. I think all six Friends contributed equally to the success of the show, whereas, with TBBT, the contributions really aren't equivalent, with Jim Parsons making the biggest contribution to the success. Nonetheless, I thought the 1M for the Friend's cast was ridiculous too.

  24. Possibly, I just wish that these huge profits would also trickle down to all of the behind-the-scenes staff instead of going into the pockets of greedy actors. It just seems wrong...
