The Affair - Première date, promotional photo and first trailer

The Affair, Showtime's new drama series, has a première date : Sunday, October 19, 2014.

The Affair is "a provocative exploration of the emotional effects of an extramarital relationship using the distinct memory biases of both the male and female perspectives to tell the story."

Season 1 will have 10 one-hour episodes, all of which will air after Homeland season 4 at 10pm from October 19 to December 21, and it's created by Hagai Levi (creator of In Treatment - such an underrated show) & Sarah Treem (In Treatment too - you really have to watch it, it's surprisingly easy to binge-watch).

The main cast is very good :

- Dominic West (The Wire, The Hour).
- Maura Tierney (Rescue Me, The Good Wife).
- Joshua Jackson (Film Class Guy #1 in Scream 2).
- Ruth Wilson (The Prisoner, Luther).

A few tidbits on The Affair :

- Season 1 covers six months.
- Showtime President David Nevins has heard a four-five season pitch.
- It drew comparisons to Masters of Sex (btw, watch Masters of Sex, that's an order).
- It's an intimate and intense close-up on these people, "with a momentum that you get from a good thriller".

And now, our first look at The Affair :

And I'm sure it'll garner some interest here in part because of the presence of a certain J.J in the main cast (not that J.J, the one from Fringe-- okay, the one from Dawson's Creek, it's clearer now), but I have a feeling the show will be good (I will humbly add that I'm rarely wrong). They're having a panel on The Affair at the Television Critics Association today.
